My family of four travelled from Canada and rented the Coastguard cottage for one week in July 2013. The Cottage is part of a series of buildings/homes just above the quarry at Porthoustock, although we never heard any quarry noise. There was plenty of space for us to make ourselves comfortable and my young children really enjoyed the gated yard to play in. It has every amenity needed for a family, laundry, dishwasher, large fridge, bathtub, shower, 3 toilets etc. with the exception of cell phone service, which we knew when we booked and was a welcome break. The village of Porthoustock is a very short walk with a shingle beach, my kids really enjoyed the cool off in the evening as Cornwall was in a heatwave.
This was a great location to explore the Lizard area, St. Michael's Mount, Falmouth and area of Cornwall. We loved Roskilly's ice cream and farm which is a very short drive from St. Keverne. We also enjoyed the neighbouring town Coverack's sandy beach, when the tide is... more
