Close to St Catherine's woods, the impressive St Catherine's Breakwater and secluded beaches, Archirondel Tower provides a perfect coastal base while you explore the north-eastern corner of Jersey.

Built on a rocky outcrop in St Catherine's Bay in 1792, Archirondel Tower was used as a garrison for artillery soldiers and has been a key defensive point throughout Jersey's history. Linked to the shore by the abandoned southern arm of St Catherine's Breakwater, the Tower has been converted into one of our basic coastal towers and accommodates up to 10 people at any time.

Split over three levels with a large terrace overlooking the tranquil bay of Archirondel, the Tower provides a great base for those looking for adventure, with the sea on your doorstep. The ground floor c...

4 of 5 stars Reviewed 16 September 2013 for a stay in September 2013

We hired the tower for 2 nights in Sepember 2013, booked through Jersey Heritage.
The location is amazing.
No running water, no toilets.... but there is a good cafe and toilets (open 24hr) nearby. The toilet block also has showers .... but beware they are unisex and there are no doors/curtains to protect your modesty.
The tower does have electricity, a kettle and a fridge, and 7 basic beds. Taking a good torch is essential for visiting the toilets at night.

Suggestions to owners - some sort of outside cover would be very helpful in the event of rain.

The wind howled around the tower at night but it was warm inside, it was a memorable stay!

Management response:

Thank you for your review, we do value all feedback and are delighted that you had a lovely time. Archirondel is an amazing place but you do need an adventourous spirit to stay there for longer than two nights. Next time you visit Jersey try one of our historical, self catering properties - privacy in the shower guaranteed. more
