Despite atrocious weather, we booked to stay at Appletree Cottage as we were house hunting in the area. The cottage is lovely, but for a cottage surprisingly roomy and as I am over 6ft tall, no trauma with low ceilings as long as I was aware of where the pinch points were, ie staircases. The property was found easily, despite arriving in the dark in a monsoon, and very well set up with heating on and the makings of a wood burning stove indoors. Very spacious kitchen for dining and for our research with maps on a large table. Beds were very comfortable and certainly big enough for us. Parking was 'interesting' in the storm but once seen in daylight was easy to sort out a system for turning around for exiting the lane. We were contacted a couple of times by the owners to make sure everything was ok and they were very helpful and happy to give us advise on locality and places to eat.
