I recently stayed at this lovely cottage and it exceeded all of my expectations. The cottage is much larger than it looks in the photos, and is ideally located in the centre of Longhope village (the main/most populated village on Hoy), a short walk from the local shop which includes a petrol & diesel pump and offers cashback (there are no ATMs on Hoy, so I found this especially convenient).
The house itself is very tidy and traditional, and has a nostalgic feeling of a Scottish "but 'n' ben". There is a real coal fire in one of the living rooms which makes for a very cosy evening atmosphere after a day out exploring Hoy. The house includes all mod cons and is well stocked with crockery, cutlery, towels, laundry facilities, games and DVDs.
The owner was very welcoming and courteous, and the house is a fantastic deal for the price charged.
The real attraction of Hoy is all the incredible outdoor pursuits, which suit a range of activity levels...
