Nestled in the foothills of Cader Idris, in the spectacular Dysynni Valley, rests the beautiful Llanfihangel-y-Pennant. This rural hamlet is steeped in Welsh history and culture including the ancient St Michael's Church, Castell y Bere, and Mary Jones Memorial.

Old Tyn-y-Fach is an 18th century, Grade II listed cottage. Nestled by a shallow stream, it backs onto a working farm, thus not only offering spectacular mountain and valley views, but also day to day farm life (lambing, sheep shearing, and working sheep dogs). It looks cosy and welcoming all year round, with its slate roof, white walls, and feature windows.

Inside, the house has many original features including exposed oak beams, slate floors, fireplaces and deep windows. There are three very good sized bedrooms, one double...

5 of 5 stars Reviewed 16 August 2013 for a stay in July 2013

We stayed at Tyn-y-Fach during the last week of July and we were all very pleased with the cottage. It is very 'olde worlde' with stone floors and low beams but has been sympathetically modernised and is very comfortable and clean. There are many things to do in the surrounding area which is very picturesque. It is situated on a working farm and children and adults will both love seeing the sheep and horses so close by. We were allowed to feed some young sheep and became rather attached to a young foal which was in the barn next to the cottage. Booking was simple and Richard and Melanie went out of their way to ensure we had all the information we might need. Thank you. more

Tyn-y-Fach is in a stunningly beautiful and remote location. As soon as we turned the key in the door we started to absorb its atmosphere.

The exposed beams and stone floor exuded history which made us inquisitive; how old is the cottage, how many people have lived here, and who was it built for?

The cottage is very homely and comfortably furnished and we felt very welcome.
The information booklet was comprehensive and the sheets and maps of walks on the doorstep were very useful.

We very much enjoyed our weekend here and would definitely make a return visit.
