My wife and I just finished a month-long stay at Jeremy's house. We're experienced travelers in our sixties and have visited New Orleans several times before for short periods. This time, we picked the Algiers Point neighborhood because of its history and proximity to the French Quarter and Canal St. by ferry.
The residents are a mixture of artists, young families, retirees and professionals. Friendly folks out walking in the evenings and gathering at the various cafes and bars enhance the old world feel. Within the boundaries of "Old Algiers" you can escape the energy, craziness, and hint of danger that is the Quarter.
The rental is half of a double shotgun-style house with bedroom, kitchen, bath, dining and living rooms. There's plenty of space for clothing and supplies, and Jeremy provided snacks and toiletries as well as towels and linens. The bed is comfortable and the neighborhood is very quiet at night.
