Just back from a week in L'Etable. The accommodation is beautifully finished, with an open plan kitchen/diner/sitting room on the ground floor, together with a good bathroom. The kitchen is well equipped, although there is no microwave. The two rooms upstairs are roomy with comfortable beds. I visited with my mother, who has some problems with walking so the downstairs bathroom was a slight drawback, but is no problem to the able bodied. There are nice grounds shared by the other gites, but there is also a small private grass area at the back with views across the valley.
A small enclosure with hens and ducks (no cockerel, thankfully) adds to the rural feel and are a source of eggs which you can buy.
The owners, Peta and Jason, couldn't be friendlier or more helpful and are your best bet for local knowledge and places to visit.
The gite is less than 10 minutes from Thury-Harcourt, which is where all the nearest shops, bakery etc are found. Head south...
