    Holiday Rental House –
    2 Bedrooms, 2 Bathrooms, Sleeps 4
Formerly a byre at Longsyke Farm, The Goose Barn (4 STAR GOLD QUALITY IN TOURISM AWARD) was meticulously restored in 2010 to provide beautiful, luxurious self-catering accommodation in the heart of the rugged, unspoilt Northumberland countryside. Overlooking fields, and with a totally private garden for guests, The Goose Barn is the perfect rural retreat, a place to relax and unwind.

The barn's beautiful original features, such as flagged floors and exposed beams have been carefully restored. There is every modern convenience, including underfloor heating, and a wood-burning stove; French windows open out onto a secluded terrace where meals can be taken al fresco or a barbecue can be enjoyed.

The Farm is a haven for wildlife; its rare upland hay meadows, a botanist's dream, are...

    Cooking and Eating
The painted timber kitchen with solid oak work surfaces is fully equipped – whether you wish to cook a special dinner, prepare an idyllic picnic, or just take it easy and heat up a ready-made meal, everything you need is here. With electric double-oven, gas hob, microwave, full-sized dishwasher and a comprehensive batterie de cuisine, self-catering at The Goose Barn will be a pleasure, never a chore. Seasonal farm produce from our vegetable garden and fresh eggs from our hens are available, as is a careful selection of ready-made meals, prepared in our farmhouse kitchen.
As the carefully designed cooking area is open-plan to the traditional painted farmhouse dining table, to the sitting-room and to the terrace beyond, no one is ever 'stuck in the kitchen' .

The Goose Barn is situated in the heart of the beautiful unspoilt Northumberland National Park. The most dramatic central section of Hadrian's Wall is visible from the barn's windows; it is only a short walk (less than a mile) from the barn to the Hadrian's Wall National Trail and to its junction with the Pennine Way.

The barn is a mile north of the National Park visitor's centre at Once Brewed, and close to the famous Roman sites of Vindolanda and Housesteads. Despite this seclusion, communications are excellent: we are just thirty minutes' drive from the M1/A1 to the east and the M6 to the west, and 35 minutes from Newcastle International Airport. The nearest rail station is Haltwhistle (4 miles).

We have just spent a delightful week at Goose Barn. This cottage is a little treasure. It is well kept, fully equipped and in a beautiful part of Northumberland. Lucy and James are lovely people who run a busy farm as well. The daily visits from Jack the cat and the chickens was very entertaining. There are plenty of good... more

The Goose Barn is the place to stay if you are visiting and walking Hadrians Wall as you can look out of the window and see it!!! Steel Rigg carpark is just a few minutes drive away (Nearest one to Sycamore Gap) and is on a cycle route if you have your bike. The property itself is done to a... more

I recently stayed at The Goose Barn with my husband and our 6 month old and we had a great week. The barn is very tastefully decorated and has the best pillows - ever. The barn is well equiped and very cosy and our baby was happy there too. We didn't need to light the log burner in March, even... more
