    Holiday Rental House –
    3 Bedrooms, 3 Bathrooms, Sleeps 6
This is a 5 star picture postcard 700 year old cottage in the centre of the highly acclaimed and easy accessible village of Hartington, superbly situated adjacent to the Rover Dove. There are three bedrooms, sleeping two in each room and each room has the benefit of a spacious en-suite, one of them a full size bathroom. The original 700 year old (!) cruck beams can still be seen. The spacious living room is heavily beamed (although not as old as the cottage itself), and has an Inglenook fireplace with imposing dressed stone surround, stone mullioned windows and walls approaching three feet in thickness. Without doubt this is a most relaxing room. There is a television, offering of course full Sky programmes (films and sports package included) and CD player, but who needs these – whether... more

    How to get there
Airport: Manchester; East Midlands: 48.0 km
    Railway: Buxton: 16.0 km
    Ferry: Hull: 130.0 km
Detailed directions are sent prior to guests arrival, but Hartington is very accessable being a very easy two miles away (along a fairly straight B road) from a trunk road, the A515, half way between Buxton and Ashbourne. The accessability of Hartington means that once there, getting around the Peak District, is also extremely easy.
For those travelling from abroad we would advise that we are half way between Manchester to the north (whose airport is one hour away)and Birmingham and its two airports Birminghan and East midlands Airport - the latter is also one hour away - to the south. 80 miles from Hull Docks (for ferries from Holland and Belgium)(two hours driving time) and 4 and a half hours from Dover. The
excellent bus service between Buxton and Ashbourne from a stop just 80 yards f...

A lovely, delightful cottage which well deserves it's 5 stars. Perfectly situated in a picture postcard village. Quality accommodation where everything matches - no old, odd and mismatched crockery! Its obviously been furnished with care and thought and was spotless throughout.. The owner was on hand at a few minutes notice when we had one or two queries and nothing... more

5 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 January 2014 for a stay in January 2014

We stayed at Knowle cottage for 4 nights with friends and our 2 young children. The cottage is fantastic and we highly recommend it to anyone travelling to the area. The village is the smallest and most quiet village I have ever visited and its absolutely lovely. The cottage is well equipped with all that we needed. One from the... more
