Sheldon Church nr Bakewell - possibly the best small church I have ever seen

Part of a 19th century barn in the thriving village of Hartington, situated in the Peak District National Park. Hartington has two general stores, The Rook Cafe, Beresford tea rooms, a Cheese shop, tourist shop, a post office, garage, two pubs The Charles Cotton and the Devonshire Arms. All located a minute's walk from The Bear's Barn. The Rook Cafe offers takeway food two nights a week and a Fish & Chip van visits on a Friday night.

The barn has one bedroom with a four-poster double bed, a large kitchen with dining area and a cosy lounge with Multi-fuel stove sitting on locally sourced Derbyshire Gritstone hearth. The bathroom has sink, toilet, heated towel rail, fan heater and a bath with electric shower over. Off-road parking for two cars.

If there is a better place for a couple to enjoy the countryside, I have yet to find it. Bear's Barn is simply perfect: the size of the property, the cleanliness, the facilities on site, the large TV, the Log Burner and THE most comfortable bed I have ever slept in. Spent a great week staying at the Bears Barn. This is an ideal retreat for exploring the Peak district with 'everything' on the doorstep. Particularly pleasing that there is a really nice pub and a decent hotel within a hundred yards - so not far to go after a nice meal and sampling the local ales. The accommodation itself is... more

An amazing cottage. It was very clean and very comfortable, could not fault it at all. Walks right on the doorstep and a fantastic pub in the Village (Devonshire Arms) did great food.
