As a vibrant, modern holiday destination, Vilamoura is sure to hold something to appeal to all tastes and age groups. Designed and constructed specifically to appeal to the present day holidaymaker’s requirements, Vilamoura is a resort where every moment of your holiday is likely to be precious. In order to maximise your overall experience, privately renting a holiday apartment or villa is certain to prove an excellent idea, with the consequent cost savings equally likely to prove more than appealing.
The marina is the epicentre of Vilamoura and the ideal place to start your exploration of the area. Traditional water based activities such as cruises, jet skiing and big game fishing can be arranged at the marina but the area is also home to a great many trendy bars and shopping facilities. Clean, sandy beaches can be found on either side of the marina to cater to all sorts of traditional, family beach activities. During the day, the marina at Vilamoura can be fairly sedate and it is in the evening that it truly comes alive, as people converge on the bars, the nearby casino and the popular restaurants.
The golf courses in the Vilamoura area have been created to a very high standard and were designed to attract golfers of the highest calibre. Courses in the area include the Oceanico Laguna, Millennium and the Old Course, offering challenges of varying degrees. It should be noted, however, that most of the courses will require handicap certificates to be presented.
Sporting fun in Vilamoura is not limited to golf. There is also a riding school, a tennis centre and facilities for lawn bowling. The Roman site within the area has well preserved ruins, including the former bathing area and a museum affords an interesting insight in to life in the far distant past.
Although Vilamoura has plenty to keep its visitors entertained, there are equally sights worth seeing in the surrounding areas. A further benefit of renting your holiday accommodation means that you can take full advantage of day excursions and those activities that little bit further afield. A boat trip to explore the local sea caves is one such interesting activity, while the nearby historical town of Loule has a fourteenth century castle to explore and an open air markets to shop for souvenirs of your holiday in the area.
