Be sure you get a rental car with unlimited mileage. Captains Choice for example has unlimited mileage. Eagles Nest Hotel does not. John - Thanks for the car rental info. I actually looked into renting a car from Juneau and taking it on the ferry, but in July it's actually more than renting it in Haines and from what I remember, a lot of the rental companies don't allow you to ... more

... a car or not.....bike rentals are available..... Another option (a little price-y) but a wonderful place is the River House an independent vacation rental on the Chilkat River (I think they have their own website)....We had five grandchildren under the age of 8 visit us in Haines ... more

... full kitchen (basically a small apartment). Very close to the ferry terminal. It ran about $100/night for 2 in November but I am sure it costs more in the summer. The woman is so sweet, and bakes all kinds of goodies for you. I am probably doing a similar ... more
