About
I will accompany you to my land where I was born and raised.
Traditions and people will be the backdrop to this adventure on the Modena hills.
I will let you discover the flavors and aromas that accompany our days and I will reveal the ancient secrets that producers still use today to produce Parmigiano Reggiano and balsamic vinegar.
We will have fun preparing a good dish of fresh pasta together using just a few ingredients for a mouth-watering result.
You will discover how in Emilia Romagna we are used to using few ingredients and having a lot of patience.
All this on the gentle hills in the Modena countryside, far from city traffic and mass tourism and in contact with nature and the passion that distinguishes us.
We can organize (at an additional price that we will communicate to you) the pick up at your hotel and we can also organize a private tour (for couples or friends) or vary this tour in case you have other needs.

About the operator
Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- barbaracU2675HM0 contributionsGreat tour of the Parma region! We really enjoyed this interesting and beautiful tour around the Modena countryside. Unfortunately it was raining pretty hard the day we went, but our guide Alice couldn’t have been more flexible and accommodating. She suggested we do it by car instead and planned a custom experience for my husband and I, She was an excellent guide…super friendly and very knowledgeable about the process of making cheese/balsamic and the history/culture of the area. Plus the tastings were fantastic. Highly recommend!Written 9 October 2024
- lillyw5170 contributionsAmazing tour in ModenaWe had a wonderful time with Aly exploring Modena. We will book with her again. I could not suggest this experience more! Aly was great & super knowledgeable. Food was delicious & Modena is a beautiful place with lots to see. We appreciated hearing about it from a local perspectiveWritten 28 August 2024
- elliots6930 contributionsPhenomenal Experience!Amazing experience! I (40ish) went with My teenage son and father (70+) and it was one of the most memorable parts of our trip in Italy. The scenery is amazing and the tour has a very private feel. It exceeded my expectations. Here are some details that might help: Difficulty: low/moderate. I exercise regularly, but had not been on a bike in years. The ride was somewhat strenuous when climbing the hills, but overall not bad with the Ebike assist. My father rides an Ebike regularly and found it moderately difficult. Transportation: We did not rent a car, so we asked to be picked up from our hotel. It did cost extra, but was very reasonable, either the same or less than the cost of a taxi. Guides: Did an outstanding job! They lead and tail during the ride to help ensure safety during the ride (some of it is on streets). They were patient, helped to carry water and the things we purchased, and offered to take pictures for us. They were very knowledgeable and were excellent English speakers (we speak no Italian) Overall, this was a phenomenal experience and I would not hesitate to do it again. Thank you!!Written 6 July 2024
- Connector108789085810 contributionsHighly recommend! Magic! After expert gravel riding in Tuscany we struggled to locate high end road and gravel bikes plus mountain bikes in the Emilia Romana region and were relieved to locate Mud & Snow, Alice and her brother Francesco. We did an incredible bike ride to Montalbano. In addition, on a separate half day, Alice arranged a fantastic tour of one of the top cheese makers in the region. Be sure to start there in the morning, or you will miss the production of the days milk into cheese. Next we went to the family maker of the famous balsamic vinegar, where we had an amazing spread of snacks to sample the product. Of course we bought a bottle of each the blend and special juniper barrel vintage 25 year old (!) - delicious result. Finally, we visited a small family winery that produces the regions famous Lambrusco. Five different types, served with charcuterie. Again all was very delicious. Alice Drove us on our tour and gave us many additional intimate insights of the region along the way. She is expert in languages and was a pleasure to converse with, being in direct contact with us via WhatsApp as well. Highly recommend! Magic!Written 22 June 2024
- Nancy H0 contributionsHighly recommend! Fun, safe and educational with family! We highly recommend tour with Alice!! We’re a family of 5 with three teenage girls. Alice and Matteo were excellent duo: Alice was the tour guide, sharing her knowledges and educating us. Matteo was a mountain cyclist, responsible for leading the ride on the road. The two together is a great combination. My husband and I are cyclist/tri-athletes and are aware of how scary it might be taking teenagers on a cycling trip on an unfamiliar area. We always take a bike tour when visiting a new city (more than ten to date in various continents); this was one of the very few that we felt most relaxed and comfortable during the bike tour. Alice was very knowledgeable about the making of the cheese and the Balsamic vinegar. The cheese master and the vinegar master were both family friends, who also made us felt like family during the visit. Alice also help made a lunch reservation for us at the end of the tour, which allowed us to enjoy local cuisine. The driver she arranged for the pick-up was also very professional.Written 17 June 2024
- J1922NRtaylork0 contributionsParmesan and Balsamic bike tourI had the most amazing time on this e-bike tour with Alice and her brother Francisco! High-quality experience from start to finish, including a smooth pick up and drop off before and after the tour. Alice and Francisco made sure we felt comfortable on our bikes, and were excellent guides leading us on bikes around Castelvetro di Modena. Alice is also very knowledgeable about the Parmesan and balsamic vinegar process. We got to see Parmesan cheese being produced and learn about the various stages in the process, and ultimately got to eat the incredible cheese! Similarly, we visited a local balsamic vinegar producer and learned all about this process from Alice and the producer and his wife. And even after the tour ended, Alice continued to be extremely helpful, providing recommendations for the rest of our day that we concluded in Bologna. Had the most amazing time on this bike tour, and would absolutely recommend to anyone.Written 13 June 2024
- ralphine w0 contributionsFabulous tour. So much food to taste and understand. So much beauty and history to respect and admire. Alice is a truly wonderfuThis was a wonderful morning and fabulous tour of Modena. Alice is a delightful, informative, engaging woman. She is passionate about the city, the food the history and the beauty of this town. Her enthusiasm and generosity with both knowledge and food was infectious. We sampled lots of different food and I left feeling happy and with a good understanding and respect for the people, the history and the food off this town and region. I cannot recommend her highly enough.Written 11 June 2024

- P4668HIsteved0 contributionsWonderful experience!Alessandro and Marta were amazing guides! Our family had so much fun on this tour, and we learned a lot about foods we have always enjoyed. The countryside was gorgeous, and although none of us had ever been on e-bikes before, our guides were patient and took the time to teach us how to ride them. Definitely a highlight of our trip!Written 5 October 2023
- Roblaw0 contributionsJust Perfect - A Must-do Experience in Emilia-RomagnaWe booked this on our second last day of a one-month holiday - and it was a highlight of a month in Italy and Croatia. Travels arrangements were made to pick us up in Modena and after a short mixup in finding our ride, we were on out way to what was an amazing day! Marta and Allessandro were our guides and they were amazing. They spoke perfect English and made our day a perfect pedal through the hills surrounding Castelvetro di Modena. Could not have been happier and could not recommend them more!Written 29 September 2023
- Glowsndadark0 contributionsExcellent tour. Fun and informativeFantastic Pamigiano Regiano cheese making tour. It was great to ride the bicycle through the beautiful countryside and some of the views were so amazing. We learned a lot about cheese making and just how special this cheese is( note we did a bicycle and cheese only tour). Really fun and relaxing experience. Both guides are lovely people.Written 8 September 2023
- WendyRobi0 contributionsThis e-bike tour was highlight of our trip to Emilia-RomagnaDo this e-bike tour! It will be the highlight of your trip to the Emilia-Romagna region. The booming process was very easy and Alice and her brother Francisco were the nicest people you could ever meet. The e-bikes were very high quality and the area to meet up was easy to find with plenty of free parking (key when driving in italy). Riding in the hills of Modena was breathtaking and while a nice little workout, not hard at all. The way they organized the riding then stopping for the tastings was very well done. We loved learning about and seeing how parmigiano reggiano was made and then getting to taste the fresh ricotta (still warm!) and the various aged parmigiana was amazing! Then another gorgeous ride to the acetaia for the balsamico tasting. That was another treat as more snacks to try the balsamic on including sweets—something we would have never tried before. Don’t want yo give too much away as a few surprises are nice but just wanted to highly recommend this tour if you want something fun, active, memorable AND getting to eat some of the items this region is famous for.Written 3 September 2023
- Linda N0 contributionsFood bike tourTruly an unforgettable experience! For those of you that want to experience the "real" Italy.... this is a way to do just that. Castelvetro and the surrounding area is beautiful but possibly this is topped by all the delicious foods that you have the opportunity to taste! I wasn't sure that an e-bike was for me... but although it was my first time I had to problems!Written 21 February 2023

Sept 2024 • Couples
My wife and I went with 2 other couples, and this was an amazing experience. We are all really into food and enjoy making our own pizzas and pasta as well as other Italian-inspired dishes, but we still learned a lot from this tour. We found the cheese-and vinegar-making fascinating, and the tastings gave us all a new appreciation for the time and process necessary for this level of quality. But the pasta making (and eating!) was the real star. Enrico is an excellent instructor, and Nonna's fritatta and ragu with our tagliatelle is exactly what we hoped to eat at such a traditional Italian-family meal. The wine was delicious, the village was remarkable, and the company was excellent. It was a fabulously authentic Italian experience.
Aly is an amazing guide. She is a joy to be with, and she provided so much interesting insight. Her enthusiasm is infectious, and she made the whole tour fun and fascinating.
As Americans, we struggle a bit with the Italian language, but Aly's English is perfetto. We thoroughly enjoyed this excursion, even moreso than many of the other sights and experiences in and around Bologna and Modena. We all highly recommend Aly and this excursion.
