Ramen and Gyozas - Cooking class
We booked this cooking class for the end of our trip, and wow, what a delight. Yuca passionately shares her recipes for ramen and gyozas, she is welcoming and an excellent teacher. Everything takes place in her home in a warm and friendly atmosphere, and you quickly feel at ease. I loved tasting various candies and chocolates throughout the class while sharing stories with other guests from around the world! The recipes are well explained, you get to participate in everything, and you even decorate your ramen bowl just the way you like it! I wholeheartedly recommend this cooking class. Thank you, Yuca, for sharing the secrets to great ramen and delicious gyozas!

I loved every minute of it!
YUCa was incredibly generous inviting us into her home. She is such a lovely person and was patient with every step, giving us plenty of opportunity to learn about Japanese home cooking and even grocery shopping. It was definitely one of the highlights of my trip that I tell all my friends and even locals. 100% recommended!

      Amazing!!!
Yuca was so nice and kind. Made cooking the recipes super easy. Really enjoyed the class as well as learning more about Japanese cuisine. We even went on a little trip afterwards to the local supermarket. Yuca showed us where we could get all of the ingredients which was helpful. Would definitely recommend and do it again!

      Okonomiyaki and Gyoza 🥢
This is our second class with the lovely Yuca. We so enjoyed her ramen course in 2023 that we came back to do the okonomiyaki class this year. Such a fun way to experience a little more of Tokyo life. We caught a tram to yuca’s home, in northern Tokyo and had a fun couple of hours learning how to make gyoza and okonomiyaki. It’s also a great way to meet like minded travellers. ( We shared our class with a lovely group of friends from Austria and Germany.) Yuca has good English, is very organised, knowledgeable and happy to chat about daily life in Japan as well as teaching us how to cook delicious local fare. Highly recommend this class!

      Highly recommended
Yuca is incredibly knowledgeable. She is also highly organised and a lot of fun! This is a class for everyone. We had absolute beginners and a professional chef. The food we cooked was delicious. Another bonus is coming to an area where there aren’t many tourists. You will love it.

Delicious food cooked with an amazing host
We had a great experience with Yuca. She is really knowledgeable and was replying to all our questions. The ramen and gyoza that we cooked were really tasty and now we will be able to do it back at home and remember our time in Japan. One of the best souvenirs you can bring back home

Wow our experience with YUCa was amazing. We cooked delicious Ramen from scratch, my husband said it was better than the famous restaurant we went the night before. The gyoza was perfect and after the lesson will be easy to recreate at home. YUCa was so sweet, we loved chatting with her the entire time. The house is in a more residential area of the city, a great place to wander and see real Tokyo life. I could not recommend this more.

My wife and I plus our 12 year old son and his best friend had a great time at YuCa’s ramen and gyoza cookery lesson. She is so welcoming and enthusiastic and made sure everybody in the group (8 in total) could get involved and play a part in making a delicious lunch. This is a great way to experience some of the culture in an unfamiliar country and we would totally recommend it!

What a wonderful morning spent at Yuca’s! She is so thoughtful and thorough in her teaching process, that I really felt like I could leave here and take these recipes home to easily recreate. Yuca herself is so friendly and personable, we really enjoyed getting to spend the time in her home. 10/10 would recommend!

[TLDR: highly recommended] The pleasures of this course are three fold. (1) YUCa san seems very knowledgeable in cooking ramen and gyoza. She was able to answer all the questions we asked, and she included everyone in the process. So we learned quite a bit. (2) YUCa san is very nice and accommodating. 3/8 of the class was vegetarian so YUCa san had us make a separate vegetarian ramen and gyoza in parallel with the others so it didn't feel out of place. (3) The location is removed from the touristic hustle of Tokyo which was a nice change. It is just at a normal house on a normal, blissfully silent street. The short walk through residential neighborhoods from the Oku train station to YUCa san's house was a nice preparation to cooking a homely meal.

Bonus fold: she knows where you can buy kimonos for only 500¥ (just to be clear, that's about $3.50)

We decided we’d like to take a cooking class and learn how to make authentic Japanese food while in Japan for the first time. YUCa was sweet, friendly and knowledgeable - we enjoyed her company and her style of teaching. We were in a group with 3 other couples, but our host was very inclusive and gave everyone things to do and made sure everyone could see if she was demonstrating something. It was fun and rewarding to eat the meal we had prepared with YUCa’s guidance. We learned a lot, ate delicious food, she sent us home with recipes, and we got a chance to swap stories with the other members of the group. She also recommended some other areas of Tokyo to visit, which was appreciated and offered to let us wander a local grocery store with her after the class where she pointed out different ingredients and answered any questions we had. Overall, this experience was a great one and we would recommend it to others! We spent 3 weeks in Japan and ended our trip with this. Worth every penny!

The cooking class was such a relaxed and friendly setting. We really enjoyed learning about the steps and processes of creating such a delicious dish. And some of the Japanese traditions around food. Yuca is very knowledgeable, a great teacher and she is very kind and accomodating and it’s very easy to get too as it was a 5 minute walk from the train station. We would recommend doing this cooking class if you stay in Tokyo, enjoy food and want to learn how to make a delicious Ramen and gyoza.

We strongly recommend this class for anyone interested in a fun morning of learning about Japan and Japanese cooking. Yuca welcomed us warmly into her kitchen space where she gave us a quick overview of Japanese food and held introductions. We then got up, washed our hands, and got to work as she demonstrated and had us participate in the ramen and gyoza making processes. She was kind, gregarious, and an excellent teacher. At the end we got to eat the fruits of our labor, which may have been a little disfigured since we’re first timers but were still delicious. We had an absolute blast and really appreciate Yuca’s care and hard work making this a memorable experience.

As cooking amateurs, we booked Yuca’s class to learn about Japanese cuisine and techniques.

Yuca is an amazing teacher, full of energy and really keen to share all her knowledge about Japanese cuisine and culture.

The fact that the class is held in her house allowed us to get a fully immersive experience.

The course is really participative and cooking time is shared between all guests so we all get a chance to cook (I will beef up my gyoza pizza flipping game ...).

To top it all off, Yuca brought us to the local supermarket where we could buy the ingredients she used in her class to make our own ramen & gyozas at home.

Thank you so much Yuca-san. We'll be back!
