What to expect
1. At 10:30 am, gather at the central exit of JR Omori Station. Look for someone who has a bag with the logo "homecoming TAKA". 8 minutes walk to my home. Along the way, pass by the side of the shrine and walk in the quiet residential area. 2. Once you arrive at my home, I will explain today's program. Origami → Japanese noodle making → Japanese food making (sushi, dumplings etc) → Matcha → Souvenir calligraphy colored paper 3. First, origami. Fold the paper crane. 4. Udon noodles then. Enjoy the process from material to completion. Everybody steps on the material. 5. Create sushi and dumpling together as the main menu for lunch. As the experience of Japanese cuisine, it will be the main of today. In addition, my wife takes on some Japanese small dishes. 6. Enjoy conversation and enjoy lunch slowly. All materials are from Japan. Drink too. Beer, sake, shochu and soft drinks are free. Everyone drinks, eats and drinks! 7. After meals, make matcha together. Taste Matcha with local Japanese sweets. 8. Finally, Keiko will write the visitor's name in calligraphy on colored paper and bring it back as a souvenir. 9. It is a lonely time zone. We couples are teary. We look forward to seeing you again at JR Omori Station for the next reunion.

Me and my wife went to japan for our honeymoon and this was one of the highliths of the trip, Taka-San and Keiko-San made us feel so welcome and confortable in their home, shearing with us the history of their culture and stories. Learning from cooking to having a Macha ritual everything was fantastic.
Cant recommends enough, is a must done if you visiting japan.

Very fun & welcoming - highly recommended!
Jan 2020
Myself and 3 friends wanted to visit a Japanese home and learn more about their culture and how they live and eat - and were pleasantly surprised we got much more than that! From dancing making udon noodles to drinking sake and learning about Japanese traditions - we can now proudly say we have 2 great friends in Japan in Taka and Keiko. Already talks of inviting them to any of our future Australian weddings... Good times, thanks!

The best part of our Japan trip
Jan 2020
This day was so fun for us. Taka hosted us in his home with his lovely wife Keiko. He started by telling us interesting tidbits about Japan. After a while, we started with origami, then it was on to the cooking class. We learned how to make udon, sushi, and tempura. The tempura was surprisingly simple to make--other people have more complicated recipes, but theirs is a simple yet excellent recipe. We of course ate what we cooked. The sushi had the freshest, juiciest fish (the best I've tried, I must say), and the wagyu beef was top notch! yummmmm.
We ended with a calligraphy lesson. We were sad to leave, and said and waved goodbye to Keiko until we turned the street corner lol :-D
Taka was even concerned that our flight was canceled (volcano eruption in our country) and emailed to ask if we were able to make it. You don't only gain knowledge from this activity--you gain friends as well. We will be sure to visit them again the next time we're in Tokyo.
Thank you so much, Taka and Keiko! We loved every minute!

Highlight of our Trip to Japan!
Dec 2019
Thank you Taka and Keiko for providing us with the highlight of our recent trip to Japan. Taka and Keiko are the most fantastic couple who love meeting people from other countries, welcoming them into their home and sharing their culture. We had great fun learning to make origami, followed by some great dancing whilst making udon noodles, tempura and sushi. Eating, drinking, talking, laughing, calligraphy and green tea - all in Taka and Keiko's home. A truly fabulous experience that we will not forget and would happily recommend to anyone. Taka and Keiko are the most generous and hospitable couple. Looking forward to keeping in touch Taka and Keiko. Thank you once again.

Memorable cooking class - have fun and make friends at the same time!
Nov 2019
We ended our Japan trip with a cooking class with Taka and Keiko and it was definitely a highlight of our trip! Taka and Keiko warmly invited us into their home and treated us as friends rather than just guests. We got to learn how to make lots of Japanese foods the traditional way and are keen to try them ourselves back at home. Will highly recommend this cooking class for anyone who wants to have a fun time spent learning more about Japanese cooking and culture.

The BEST experience!!
Oct 2019
We absolutely LOVED our time with Taka-san and Keiko-san! They were so welcoming and so passionate about meeting people and sharing stories, culture, food and fun together. The time was structured perfectly - origami followed by preparation of udon noodles, sushi and tempura; then eating, drinking and calligraphy - and plenty of laughs and dancing mixed in! We left this experience so happy, with fantastic keepsakes and Japanese friends for life. Thank you so so much for helping us to enjoy one of the highlights of our time in Japan.

Great food - fantastic company
Oct 2019
Cooking with Taka and Keiko was such a good and fun experience. Not only was the food really tasteful and fun to make but the company and hospitality was beyond our expectations. We were welcomed with open arms, curiosity and openness about Japanese life, food, language and much more. Visiting Taka and Keiko in their cozy home felt familiar – almost like visiting relatives.

We can highly recommend anyone who wants to learn how to cook a few tasteful Japanese dishes and experience Japanese hospitality at its finest to join “Team Taka”. We are looking forward to keep in touch and to come back in the future!

An absolute must do in Tokyo
Oct 2019
This was an amazing experience. Taka and Keiko will teach you the traditional way to cook Japanese cuisine. You will also learn the art of Japanese origami and calligraphy which is very fun. This is also the most genuine way of experiencing the world renown Japanese hospitality. Taka and Keiko not only welcome you into their home, they welcome you into their lives as friends and part of their "Team Taka". I am so happy I not only learned more about Japanese culture and cuisine, but I made some great new friends for life. This will be one of the highlights of your trip that you will cherish for a lifetime.
