    Stop: 3 hours
The tour starts in front of the Meiji shrine. We then would admire Tokyo's most impressive landmarks Yoyogi gymnasium by Kenzo Tange from the distance. We will stop by at the contemporary and unique fashion boutique architecture such as The Iceberg, Dior, Louis Vuitton, Tod's, Sunny hills and Prada. By taking a side trip to see the backstreet neighborhood, we could appreciate the different aspects of the area and be amused how diverse the area is. We will stop to sit to have a short break while walking and enjoy some conversation.

I expected the tour to focus on the tall iconic sky scrapers you see on the Tokyo sky-line. But instead we looked at smallish buildings designed by cutting edge Japanese architects with distinctive styles and which demonstrated innovation and imagination. They are buildings we would have missed on our wanderings through Tokyo, so it was very worthwhile to have an opportunity to have them pointed out, and to learn about them.

My guide Hal took me on a very interesting tour of the architecture in this shopping district with a rich 20th and 21st century history. The tour covered a wide variety of architectural styles, from the 1920s, through the 1964 Olympics, to buildings by top architects of today. The distances were never far from one building to the next, so it was an easy walk. But there were lots to see.

Hal was knowledgeable and her enthusiasm for architecture showed through. My best tour of the trip. Thank you, Hal-san!

Yuki , our guide was wonderful.
This tour would suit anyone with an interest in design and architecture. From ultra modern, to mid century to tiny laneways with old homes/ shops.
It’s also a wonderful introduction to Harajuku and trendy Ometesando.

Best day in Tokyo. Fantastic tour led by Hal. Opened our eyes, made us look, and shined a whole new light on Tokyo. An architectural play group for the great and the good of design. Book and go!! You will be forever thankful for these few hours.

I spent a very enjoyable few hours wandering through the Harajuku area with Hitoshi, a knowledgable & thoughtful guide. We saw not only the better known iconic buildings on the main streets, but also small buildings hidden away down narrow laneways: for me the more interesting, as they are far removed from common building styles where I live in Australia. I would not have found those without the benefit of local expertise, & Hitoshi was able to detail the provenance of each & show me photos of other works by the same architects. An interesting journey, & a highlight of my stay in Tokyo. Would definitely recommend.

I am an Architect from the United States that has noted the excellent Architecture of Japan since the 1970's when i was in Architecture School.
So naturally i was very excited to make my first trip to Tokyo.
My tour guide was Yuka and we had a very nice time together walking through the neighborhoods and streets of Omotesando. She was able to discuss the various projects knowledgeably and was also a very pleasant companion.
the tour was very flexible. We made some adjustments on the fly and spend more or less time at each project as we saw fit. I felt like i was talking with someone who knew the projects well and was adding to my understanding of the work.

I highly recommend her company for anyone wishing to have such a tour.

Our guide Yoko was friendly, articulate, knowledgeable, and extraordinarily generous with her time. We took welcome coffee and lunch breaks in interesting venues, but did not complete the nominally 3 hour tour until nearly 3:30 as we loitered over building details, and Yoko kept finding more treasures to visit. Ended at the Nezu museum, well worth a visit, and also had time before our 10am start to walk most of the way up the beautiful avenue of trees to the Meiji shrine. Interesting contrasts between the commercial glitz of the main street and the intimate spaces behind.
Thoroughly recommended.

Hal (Haruka), our tour quide, was absolutely wonderful and the sights featured on the tour were very interesting. Neither my friend nor I have much background in architecture, but Hal was quick to connect stops on the tour to our expressed interests. We covered a lot of the area, and I enjoyed stopping for a cup of tea and pineapple cake at one of the sights on the tour. I booked the tour with credit card points and would definitely recommend paying for it out of pocket.
