I can't stress enough how impressed we were with our crew on our three-day charter. Emma was the most amazingly competent skipper; but not only that, she was so thoughtful, taking into account the weather so that we could be tucked away safely for calm, comfortable nights. Additionally, she was expert in gauging the weather and tides for visiting the various estuaries we would love to see that could only be accessed at high tide. She made sure we could spend a good amount of time with the seals which was a top priority for us. Furthermore, she made sure that she could drop our various members off for hikes on parts of the Abel Tasman Track that some of us wanted to hike most of. She was careful to ensure that the less energetic could, at the same time, walk a beach or swim or walk part of the trail to meet the more serious hikers. Moreover, she prepared delicious feast after feast for us. We will remember so fondly drinks and snacks on the top deck, and long chatty, friendly evenings spent with our hosts over a delicious dinner.

And then on to AJ. She is a treasure, too, - always cheerful; nothing was too much trouble for her. She is just SO knowledgeable about all the plants and trees on the walks, as well as the Māori legends and wisdom related to those plants and to the birds we came across. She has not only an enormous depth and breadth of knowledge that we could tap into, she had the enthusiasm to impart that knowledge such that we felt she was enjoying the discussion as much as we were. That is the gift she gave us – she made us feel special to her on our learning journey and all that she introduced us to.

We so enjoyed hosting you on your Abel Tasman experience! Both Emma and Aj have mentioned how much they enjoyed meeting and spending time with the four of you and it was a treat to be able to share this special place with you all. Thank you for sharing how much you enjoyed your experience with us and for your fantastic review. We hope it doesn't take another 30 years :)

Having enjoyed a day out with Rod and his son three years ago,, we made a late booking on our return to Abel Tasman and were very pleased to have done so. On this occasion, our skipper was Tim, who multi-tasked superbly looking after nine of us and also produced a glorious day’s weather. This is undoubtedly the way to experience Abel Tasman. Not only did we visit several islands to see birds, penguins and seals, but we walked and paddled on two beaches, and were given a delightful lunch courtesy of Rob’s wife. Thanks again to you all and especially to Tim

We are delighted to hear you had a thoroughly enjoyable day with our fantastic skipper Tim - and of course enjoyed the lunch :) and appreciate you taking the time to write this great review. Thanks again

Our family of 5, kids 26, 23, & 20, chartered a private boat with Abel Tasman Charters and had an incredible trip. Arrived into NZ the day before from the US and thanks to Rod & Mac, we learned about not only Able Tasman but the fascinating history of NZ. We are NOT a family of boaters which is funny because this was one of our favorite days in NZ. Weather was beautiful, we stopped at all the sites mentioned in these reviews, had a great hike on land as they prepared an absolutely delicious lunch (with wine!) and went swimming around the boat. We would recommend this trip HIGHLY.

My husband and I are traveling around New Zealand for a month and wanted to see Abel Tasman so we signed up for this tour. Wow are we glad we did! The skipper Tim and first mate AJ were wonderful hosts. The boat was extremely comfortable and accommodated everyone very well. We enjoyed our leisurely cruise up the coast with several stops for hiking and kayaking. The views were astonishing! They provided us with a delicious spread for lunch - loads of veggies, meats, fish, cheeses and bread. Wine, beer, sodas, water, coffee and tea. A lovely day all in all. Relaxing and enjoyable way to explore the Park.

Beautiful day on the water with Tim, the perfect captain. He was friendly, knowledgeable and waited on us like we were VIPs. This trip was the perfect balance of being on the water and coming into land for walks or sunbathing. Delicious lunch. We were very well treated and it was a great way to see Abel Tasman!

Expensive - indeed. You can do cheaper day trips in Abel Tasman. But you can't do better day trips: it was an all-inclusive tour to Abel Tasman on which we could swim, snorkel, kayak and enjoy a marvelous freshly prepared lunch. Our boat captain was friendly, knowledgeable and competent. We enjoyed the day very much! An outstanding experience we will never forget.

We ( 4 couples) absolutely loved every single thing about our private full day charter with Captain Rod and Keren. They are true professionals and taught us a lot about the region while having fun. The boat ( and those fab bean bag chairs) was beautiful as was the lunch/ beer and wine. We loved hiking and kayaking/swimming. For many in our group this was the absolute highlight of our New Zealand adventure and we are so thankful to Rod and Keren for creating this experience! Abel Tasman Charters is so easy to work with and was a great value. Do not miss Abel Tasman National Park - its a short drive from Nelson and totally worth it!

Highly recommend this trip if you are looking to see the beautiful Abel Tasman national park without walking for days.

Our guide Tim was knowledgeable and funny and whipped up an amazing buffet lunch.

The day was spent cruising the islands, swimming, kayaking and laughing.

Can't wait to bring the rest of my family back to do this trip next summer.

My friend and I loved our day out with Abel Tasman Charters. Tim was our charming skipper with a knack for making all of us feel welcome and valued guests. A knowledgeable guide with lots of fascinating information about local history and geology, Tim also laid on a delicious lunch! Swimming, strolling, whizzing along in the shimmering turquoise waters - we saw sea lions, penguins and a host of interesting birds. Just six guests made the trip very relaxed and we truly enjoyed every minute of our special day!
