      Best Highland Tour
We loved this tour!!! Beautiful all-day tour through the beautiful Scottish Highlands. We loved that our guide was local and knew the area well. The tour was super flexible and they catered to our family's needs. Would absolutely book again.

      Worth visiting
Really fun tour that didn’t take all day. We took a bus tour that took us to a boat tour then to the castle. The bus tour resumed after the castle tour. It was really comfortable and interesting

Change and cancel stops without any warning.
The tour lists the sites you will see and states they may take you in various types of vehicles including large buses. What it doesn’t explain is if they get enough people to fill a bus they will skip promised stops with various excuses. We were told that the bus was too heavy for the bridge, then that you couldn’t park a large bus there, and a few other reasons. They choose the transportation method and will adjust the tour accordingly. We missed two of the stops listed and weren’t even told until headed back. I wouldn’t book with them again and would book with another company. What we did get to see was done well.

      Excellent tour!!!
Booked this tour as an alternative to the ones offered by our cruise. SO glad we did! Rhona was an amazing guide, one of the best we've ever had. The Scottish Highlands are so beautiful and of course the coos are absolutely adorable! The falls were dry when we were there so we visited Clava Cairns instead which are in a beautiful area and were pretty impressive. There were 8 of us total and she was wonderful about tailoring the day to what we wanted (or didn't want) to see and do. She got us to Cawdor Castle just as it opened so we avoided the crowds. We had ample time at all stops and never felt rushed. She also kept tabs on the traffic to avoid any delays and we made it back to the ship with time to spare. She is an excellent driver, navigating the narrow, single-track roads with ease and made sure we were all comfortable. The price of this tour wasn't significantly less than what our ship offered, however the small group, the option of being able to actually dip your toes in Loch Ness and Rhona's excellent guiding made it a superior choice in our opinion. Maxine was very quick to respond to emails with all of my questions (which were many)! All in all a fantastic tour and one of the best experiences of our 10 day cruise. Thank you Rhona and Maxine for the wonderful memories!!!

Well worth going on this tour.
Great tour and wonderful guide who was a local with lots of knowledge about the areas visited. Enjoyed all aspects despite some rainy weather at Culloden. Lovely drive through the Scottish countryside.

The Loch Ness Urquhart Castle tour was wonderful! Inverness, the Cairns, Culloden were real highlights too.
We booked this tour for the day our cruise ship was in port in Invergorton. Thistle Excursions had tailored this Tour to fit our our ship's arrival and departure date and times. They had our ship listed on their web site when we booked the Tour. They made sure we were back to the ship one hour before departure. Our tour guide was easy to find. She was waiting for us at the end of the dock, as planned, just a short walk from the ship. The tour was in a nine passenger van. June was our tour guide. She was very personable and knowledgeable. She made the tour feel like a pleasant family outing. The tour included stops at Culloden battlefield, the prehistoric Cairns and standing stones (really cool!), the city of Inverness, a drive along Loch Ness, a stop at Urquhart Castle and a stop at a small farm and country store to see some Scottish Highland "hairy coos" ( shaggy longhorn cows). The tour was timed well. I didn't feel rushed. The time spent at each stop was just about right. June also described how each place fit into the "Highlander" stories . I highly recommend this Thistle Excursions tour. Keith T.

      An absolutely wonderful day
Our guide Mo was exceptional. She shared an amazing amount of information, both historical and local lore. She took us to various sites and explained some of their history and let us explore them on our own. It was a great day and I would recommend it anyone.

      Amazing tour
Amazing tour, highly recommended! We were on a cruise docking at Invergordon and the guide was able to accommodate us to make sure we were back on ship on time. We thought this was going to be a small group tour but even better, we ended up having a private tour with our incredible guide named June! This tour was perfect to visit all the musts in Inverness in a small amount of time. June gave us great explanations and facts about Inverness, Invergordon, Loch Ness, Clava Cairns, Culloden Battlefield and Cawdor Castle. We also had enough time to visit each places and do some shopping in Inverness. 10/10 experience!

      Exceptional Invergordon Highlands Tour
Many compliments to Thistle Excursions and our tour guide Rhona for providing an unforgettable 8 hour experience of the Highlands. What was going to be a long quiet (dull) Sunday in Inverness, turned out to be the best shore excursion of our cruise. We were assembled into a small group of 8 (4 couples), which affords a much more friendlier and flexible adventure. High on my list was a visit to the standing stones and ancient tombs of Clava Cairns. This site can’t accommodate the larger tour buses so it was a delight to wander around with only a few other visitors. Rhona's detailed and humorous commentary was pleasurable. We very much enjoyed the overview of the Culloden Battle, the drive-through of beautiful Inverness, a Loch Ness stop (with a toast to Nessie) and the stunning Urquhart Castle visit. It left me wanting to return to visit Scotland again. Outlander and Harry Potter fans will not be disappointed as many film locations and local sights were included in the tour. Email exchanges with Maxine at Thistle Excursions is immediate and comprehensive. We booked directly with the Thistle website which had more tour details and was more economical. Compared to similar cruise line shore excursions, this tour is much better value for the money. The guide took care to warn us when there were upcoming bathroom stops, and also gave the group some options to decide on the amount of time to spend at different stops, subject to the group's interests. We decided to forgo free walking time in Inverness to allow a longer visit at scenic Urquhart Castle. Above all, we got back to the cruise ship with an hour to spare prior to sail away. This personal touch and attention to detail really sets Thistle Excursions apart from other tour operators.

Excellent day out with great guise and good value for money.
We had a good series of emails while booking to clarify the cruise lines confusing timelines, and everything turned out rosy. Excellent communications all the way along the line. Rhona was a great and enthusiastic Guide and the whole day was a delight. Highly recommended.

      Great HighlandsTour with Thistle Tours.
We really lucked out by choosing Thistle Tours to see the Highlands. Our tour included the Clava Cairns, the Culloden Battlefields, Cawdor Castle, Loch Ness, Urquart Castle, hairy coos and more! Our guide, June, was fantastic from beginning to end and was really knowledgeable about the area and the history. And she was a lovely person to spend the day with. We also really like the small group Can like Thistle uses vs large motor coaches. We could not have been happier with the whole experience and we have done a lot of traveling so we know what a great excursion it was. We highly recommend Thistle Tours.

      Wonderful Introduction to the Highlands
Took the tour in a 6-seater minibus which made the experiences much more personal for all of us. Rhona, our tour guide, was very knowledgeable about the area, its history and culture. She made frequent stops at photo opportunities and points of interested beyond just the highlights of the tour. One example was a lunch stop at a local village bakery where we purchased a very tasty lunch made to order on fresh baked rolls! The whisky tour was very impressive even though I myself am not a whiskey drinker. The castle and grounds are very impressive and the falconry display was well worth seeing. The weather made the trip to the gorge questionable, so the group decided to opt for a longer shopping period instead. All in all, an excellent experience. We would love to return to this area again for an extended visit someday.

We recently used Thistle Excursions for a tour in Inverness during our cruise. We got lucky and the owner was the guide for our excursion and she did a fabulous job. We also had the good fortune to meet her partner Graham. They did a great job of keeping things on track and the tour was a much better value than excursions through the cruise ships. There was also the bonus for cruisers as they pick you up at the port in Invergordon which was hard to find with other tour operators.

We had such a fun day on this tour! Our tour guide was easy to spot with her purple suit when we came off the ship, bus was great and we especially appreciated our bus driver’s skill navigating the small roads! This company was easy to work with over the Internet and our guide (apologize if I get the name wrong, Anne) was just so passionate about sharing her knowledge of the area—-thank you so much for a memorable day in the Scottish Highlands!!

We went on your trip on Wednesday from Invergordon to Culloden battlefields, Culloden Viaduct, Clava Cairns, Inverness, Cawdor Castle and Lock Ness. We wanted to say how much we enjoyed the trip and what good value for money it was. Mo was our tour guide and she was brilliant telling us all about the area we were going through. I had inadvertently booked our trip for 2023 and not 2022 but your staff were so helpful and said not to worry and got us on the trip with no hassle what so ever. They were all so helpful. The bus driver was so kind to a lady in a wheelchair and sorted her out whenever she wanted to get off.
Great value for money. We would recommend your tours.
    Excellent.

While on a cruise of the British Isles, we booked a tour with Thistle Excursion and had the best time ever. The tour picked us up right in front of the ship. We visited Loch Ness, Iverness, Culloden Battlefield, and Cawder Castle. Our Guide Mo was very informative , knowledgably, and funny. She gave us historical information, local lore and current events. No matter what question was posed to her, she had an answer. Our driver Ian expertly guided us through the small lanes and city streets. We would highly recommend Thistle Excursion's to anyone traveling in the area. The only downside, was not enough time in the day to linger at the sites.

Inverness was one of our cruise port stops and we booked this excursion independent of the ship. Mo was a fantastic guide and provided lots of information at each stop. I liked that we were able to stop at a bunch of different places and also receive the relevant background information before exploring them. Mo had a great sense of humor and kept the group entertained throughout the tour.

Absolutely fantastic. MO as tour guide and Ryan as bus driver, Ryan I am usually a nervous wreck when on a tour but your driving was impeccable. MO was helpful and full of knowledge. A great day was had by all.
As a company Thistle Excursions are proaactive I finding their missing clientele, truly remarkable compared to other tour companies we used this trip.

We all thoroughly enjoyed this excursion. Our driver was a kick because he was dressed in a purple and green kilt. Our tour guide was friendly and knowledgeable and mostly easy to understand. I would have liked more time at the battlefield, but that isn't a knock on the tour. Just a personal preference. The castle was enjoyable and we liked the man playing bagpipes outside. Seeing and talking about Loch Ness was really cool. They made a few additional stops to see local items of interest and for shopping, which enhanced the experience.

Emma and Scott did a great job and they were working hard with our cruise schedule. I wish I had more time but some stops had to be 30-60mins so we could make it to our next stop.

We walked with Emma through the battle site while she explained the history. Emma knows a lot and she worked her tail off throughout the entire tour and bus ride. She explained all the surroundings, wildlife, nature, history, and joked a bit.

We had planned to go on a British Isles cruise September 2020. We booked this excursion before the covid 19 virus out break Even before the virus, their customer service was amazing and attentive. We felt this tour was a great value and a lot of fun. We decided to cancel our trip and therefore our cruise due to the Coronavirus. I emailed the company and they dealt with our cancellation and credit professionally and kindly. When we finally go the cruise we definitely will re book this excursion.
