      Best experience on beer tasting
It was an amazing experience; the tour was truly interesting, and the tasting experience was the best. They made it fun by sharing fascinating facts about Costa Rican culture and historical practices. What added an extra layer of delight was the opportunity to taste the actual fruits they use to craft the drinks, providing a delightful sensory connection to the local flavors.

Wonderful tour and tasting - highly recommend.
My husband and I had an incredible time at the Costa Rica Meadery garden tour and tasting led by the charismatic owner, Michael. The meads and beers brewed by his wife, Alejandra were a delightful and unique blend of flavors, We enjoyed every sip! During the tour, we also got to taste some of the raw ingredients, including a few we never heard of before. The farm's restaurant served a delicious lunch with beautiful views, completing a truly memorable and enjoyable experience. It’s a great way to spend a good part of the day while in the San Jose area! Highly recommend!

A unique experience very close to the capital city
It is a very creative, educational, enjoyable and well organized tour that really surprises the visitor. Even for us costarricans it is a discovery of unknown aspects of our country. An intelligent mixture of information about the use of plants and the need for their preservation.

      Amazing Garden & Meadery tour!
This was a great tour. Ali was amazing and passionate about her creations.. Took an hour long walk through the gardens and learned so much from her. Then we came back to sample about 8 or 9 or the meads and beers. Very unique tastes and she explains in detail what goes into each one and you can smell and taste the ingredients. Taking the garden tour first does help you understand the complex flavors that not only can go into their creations, but by chefs from around the world. Thanks Ali & Michael

      Romantic and beautiful meadery.
This is by far the best part of my trip. The property is breathtaking. The food at the restaurant was phenomenal. The mead, wine and beer were delicious. Watching the rain on the back terrace while eating and drinking is one of my favorite memories of my trip. I wish the owners much success! Amazing!!

      Must Do Experience!
This tour is a must do! It is really an interactive botanical garden tour with Ali. Her knowledge and infectious enthusiasm would be enough to warrant the tour, but the chance to see, touch, and taste fruits and plants along with the views makes it exceptional. BUT THAT IS NOT ALL- then you get to go inside and taste how honey from Michael and Ali’s own bee hives, combined with the flavors just experienced in the garden, are turned into wonderfully flavorful mead. Some meads taste like rose’, sparkling wine, sherry and beers. My favorites were the Moca and the Amapola, but we bought all of them and have enjoyed them on the rest of our trip! We toured with our college kids (18-23) who loved it!

Wonderful, Unique, Educational and Engaging Experience
The mead tasting was wonderful! A variety of flavors from crip and dry to sweet almost brandy like. The discussion about the history of the creations is also engaging. However the tour of the botanical gardens which also produces the various fruits which go into the mead is even more engaging. Alejandra, the co-owner, brewmeister and former cheese maker is also full of cultural anecdotes which bring to life the various species and varieties of exotic plants. _Hats off to both Mike and Alejandra as well as the crew which has made this all work together in an interesting way.

      Amazing!
This was my first (and will not be the last) visit to a meadery & I thoroughly enjoyed myself! We got to tour the grounds see, learn and even taste different fruits & plants before the actual tasting. It was super informative & the views are amazing! Both Michael & Alejandra were great and very welcoming! Would definitely recommend!! If I get the chance to revisit San Jose this will be my first stop!

      Unique Costa Rican Artisanal Ferments
Alejandra made us feel welcome from the start. The Meadery is where the magic happens! We wanted to try a few different flavors and of course, purchase some products to take home with us. The Passionflower dessert wine is spectacular! As is the Flor de Jamaica flavor. We haven't tried the beers yet, and are looking forward to trying their version of prosecco. Highly recommend a visit here. Bring your curious and open mind, a palette ready to be pampered and step into something special.

      Best day ever!
Alejandra gave us such a wonderful tour through the farm, with tastings of all manner of fruits right off the trees and herbs galore! We enjoyed hearing her passion for the land and for the mead (and beer) she makes from its bounty. The tasting of some of the most delicious meads and beers I’ve ever had was the absolute icing on the cake of a perfect day. If you’re in the area, make sure you book this activity at the Meadery—you won’t regret it! Thanks so much again, Alejandra.

We tasted 6 meads- all different and all great! And each beverage had a story behind it. Alejandra and Michael are passionate about their work and it shows in their products. All ingredients are locally sourced- something that is not common in Costa Rica. This was a fun way to learn about (and taste) mead and fermentation. We left with 24 bottles of different meads and lots of ideas about how to pair them with other foods and beverages. Highly recommended for visitors to Costa Rica and local residents.

    It was an excellent evening.

I went with family and we loved the experience. Not only did we taste some very unique and delicious wines, meads and beers from their vast selection, we also got a very thorough explanation of their ingredients, inspirations and facts related to their development, from the master brewer Alejandra and co owner Michael.

They source fresh ingredients from the Herb Farm next door, and we even got the surprise that one of the ingredients used in one of the samplings, we had tasted in one of the dishes from the restaurant that very day. These shine through the different bottles and there´s definitely one for everyone.

Even amidst the heavy rain, we felt very welcome and satisfied with both the products and the tasting. We will definitely be back!

What a great discovery. The co owner of the Meadery Michael called to confirm our scheduled tasting reservation. He graciously made reservations for us next door at the Restaurant located at the Ark farm. It was hard to choose my favorite Mead as they were all amazing. You can tell Michael and his wife have a passion and love what they do. Don’t miss this wonderful experience.

Alejandra and Michael were a blast to spend some time with and sample a few of their best-selling meads. My husband and I were on our honeymoon and we love mead so of course we had to do a mead tasting! Michael gave us a brief tour of the facility before handing us over to his wife and brains behind the brewing, Alejandra. She walked us through the history and experimentation behind each mead and her passion for her work and the unique local, fresh ingredients she uses was infectious. It was unlike any other mead we’ve ever had but in the best way! We bought a few bottles to bring back to our hotel with us and will be the first to buy more when they’re able to ship to the US. If you love mead, craft beers, or trying new drinks from around the globe, you must do a mead tasting with Alejandra and Michael!

Here is a place you can let your mind free not far away from the city. Is either good for a quick visit or spending time tasting alcohol beverages. Really enjoy the service since you get to know the passion from the very own entrepreneurs.

My husband and I had so much fun at this little piece of heaven. Michael and Alejandra have definitely put lots of heart and soul into their products. I am not a beer drinker at all. No one has ever been able to convince me to drink beer. But all of their beers are exceptional and I just wanted more. This is a must stop visit if you ever travel to Costa Rica.

It was a very great experience. The owners truly provided us a unique experience and were very welcoming. All of the beers, wine, and mead were amazing so the only "issue" was selecting one we liked the most so we purchased all of the ones we tasted. Overall, we had an amazing time and will definitely go back. I highly recommend!

My wife's favorite alcoholic beverage is mead so we have been to alot of different meaderies in the states before we moved and had alot of really good mead. Costa Rica meadery did not disappoint, all of their meads and even their craft beer was fantastic and unique! The owners are both super friendly and know their stuff well! We ended up buying a few bottles and finished them within days because they were so good. If you like mead or even craft beer you'll love everything they have there!
