What to Expect
Your Tokyo walking tour and sushi class begins by meeting your guide at a location near Tsukiji Outer Fish Market. Enter the market, and see the huge variety of fresh fish and seafood on offer—from sea urchin to crab, octopus, and giant tuna. It’s a real feast for the senses, and of course there are samples along the way.
Next, head to local shops to learn about Japanese kitchen tools and accompaniments, followed by a visit to a shrine (time permitting).
The tour progresses to a cooking class at one of the largest culinary schools in Asia, where you learn washoku recipes (traditional cooking). Dishes usually include a sushi roll, a Japanese omelet, and side dishes. Then enjoy the meal you've made, accompanied by your choice of plum sake, wine, or soft drinks.
