          Fantastic tour
Hiroyuki Kinoshita Was my tour guide and he was very knowledgeable, took time to explain everything and was just fantastic. He even waited for my Uber to make sure I fit to my hotel. I will hope to have him as a guide again one day.

Disappointing Guide and tour going mostly to shops!
Our guide spoke English very quietly with a strong accent and was difficult to understand. He didn’t know a lot more info than on the plaques. Disappointing . After the imperial palace we went to a series of shops. This tour was ridiculous and as a result of it I will hesitate to book with Viator again.

Tokyo imperial palace east garden for cherry blossoms
A great place to see cherry blossoms at that time without huge crowds. There’s a certain peace to be had just strolling around the east garden.

          Sumo up close
This was an incredible experience, watching top sumo wrestlers up close. Everything about the experience was great. We were one of only a few people watching, were warmly welcomed and able to have our photo taken with the sumo wrestlers after practice, which lasted around 2 hours. Our guide was friendly and informative and spoke good English. One thing that is worth bearing in mind is that the sumo stable we visited was about an hour from central Osaka including a 15/20 min walk. This wasn’t a problem for us but worth being aware that the whole experience can take up to 4 hours if you’re pushed for time.

Such an amazing experience!! Our professor was incredibly nice and patient while teaching us. I was put in a group of 4 and together we managed to all bond over this beautiful instrument. An incredible experience and would definitely recommend

A great team building activity for a work trip
We attended the course as a team building activity organised by our company on our team trip. We were a large group but the hosts handled us perfectly - it was great to more than one teacher to help us out in smaller groups when we got to preparing the actual sushi. A great way to experience a little bit of Japanese culture and a quiet few hours serving as respite from the non-stop whirlwind of the rest of the city! I may be biased, but the sushi was some of the best I've ever tasted ;) Would recommend, and if I'm in Tokyo again with friends or family I'll be back for more!

A great opportunity to learn how to prepare and then eat tasty sushi
We attended as a group of about 10 people so we were split to two tables. The instructor and both assistants were extremely helpful and informative. The whole process was flawlessly executed and commented comprehensibly, with an occasional joke. I definitely recommend attending this course.

          Informative, entertaining, and tasty
My fiancé and I had a great time at our sushi making class. Both instructors were very kind and patient, giving us coaching along the way. The sushi we made was delicious and we opted to add a sake tasting as well which was a lot of fun. In addition our instructor Keiko even taught us a few tricks to expertly slice cucumbers for decoration. We’d recommend anyone traveling to Tokyo to take this sushi making class.

          An Efficient Tour Organisation!
We recently visited Japan for the first time and booked three half-day tours with True Japan Tours, two in Kyoto and one in Tokyo. Booking was simple, timely and the starting time of our tours was adjusted to our request. Our guides were very knowledgeable with perfect English and they paced the tours to our pace, allowing us to spend more time where we had a particular interest or moving on if we had no interest to linger. Each occasion was a very pleasant experience allowing us to develop some understanding of Japanese history and culture, and familiarising us with the cities we visited. Each guide presented us with a small gift at the end of our tour as a token of appreciation representing the culture of courtesy and respect that we observed throughout our visit. True Japan Tours is an organised tour operator that employs high quality guides.

          Great fun & very interesting
I booked 2 experiences and both were fabulous. Our first was the tea ceremony which was extremely interesting - getting into the kimonos was great fun & excellent for one's posture! Our second was watching the sumo wrestlers train, which was totally awe inspiring. We were met at our hotel by a lovely lady who explained the dos and don'ts before we arrived at the stable, very knowledgeable and such a delightful person. We were four people and all of us without exception had a great time!

          Excellent tour
We used True Japan Tours for a tour of a sumo stable earlier this month. The company was very responsive by email before our arrival, and payment for the tour was easy via Paypal. I wasn't sure what to expect, especially when they told me a couple days in advance that our tour would be shortened because the sumo schedule had changed. But the tour was wonderful! We had a hand-delivered letter from our guide, Ted, a day or two before the tour to confirm the details. Then we met on the day of our tour and he guided us via subway to the stable. Enroute Ted had us read some information about sumo wrestling, and guidance for what would be expected at the stable. Then we arrived and began the tour. We had expected to only have about 40 minutes, but the practice went longer - nearly 90 minutes total - and we were allowed to stay. It was fascinating to watch all the aspects of the practice that we saw - in fact, it was almost hypnotic. We even began to see the differences among the wrestlers. After the tour Ted walked us through the neighborhood, pointing out the Edo Tokyo Museum (which we visited on our own afterwards), and he took us to a Japanese garden and the sword museum for a quick overview. I recommend True Japan Tours for their excellent tourguide and service.

          Sumo practice Nagoya
I was really bummed to find out I was missing the next Sumo tournament by one week and that the tournament was in Nagoya and not Tokyo. So I was afraid I would not be able to see any type of sumo, but thanks to Ken at True Japan, he made it happen. No other company I could find did tours in Nagoya. Rika was my guide and she was very knowledgeable and interesting to interact with. She got me to the practice and had interesting information about the practice, tournament and sumo itself. I was very glad I did this tour. The only negative was the meet up spot was not easy to find.

          Sushi Making
I would highly recommend the Sushi making programme which i took with my daughter. It was very informative and we learnt how to make sushi rice, maki rolls, how to cut sashimi correctly and how to mould sushi rice. Our instructor, Kimiko was lovely and we both felt confident that we could prepare sushi on our own. At the end of the class we were able to eat all our sushi and were also given miso soup and tea.
