- 577TerryM0 contributionsDo it!!Toru was a fantastic host. He gave us a great overview of the past and present, all wrapped up with lots of fun, interesting info and photos. A fun small group of us listened, laughed, ate and drank our way around the old and new gaybourhood. Arigatou Gozaimasu Toru.Written 13 September 2024
- jedatsea20050 contributionsNeed a jet lagged energy boost? Pick this tour!Even though we were jet lagged, Toru brought the energy and was an incredible guide. We hit all the hotspots with some history, some laughter, and lots of “picture time!” Dinner was delicious, the drinks were strong, and the company was the best. 100/10!Written 10 September 2024
- Brian F0 contributionsFun tourFun tour. Our guide explained everything and itinerary was great. We also met interesting people from around the world.Written 15 August 2024
- Gripfast650 contributionsFun, Fascinating & Delicious!A fantastic evening - best tour ever! Kristi is a wonderful guide and showed our group many interesting places including several tiny standup eateries with fabulous food! This tour was a highlight of my stay in Tokyo - fun, fascinating and delicious! I never would have explored the areas we visited on my own.Written 23 June 2024
- benfox850 contributionsWhat an intro!First night in Tokyo and what a welcome to the city. Great insight from our guide Andrew from the history of Japan, personal stories and of course sampling some of the local food as well as saki! For someone new to Japan and with a hunger to get away from the tourist traps and understand the local culture I can not recommend higher! Great intro, great food, great experienceWritten 15 April 2024
- S197WHtammyl0 contributionsThe best tour!I took many day tours during my visit to Japan and Cecilia is the absolute best guide. This tour covered historical sites, traditions, cultural insight, sampling of local bar food, and vibrant night scene. My other tours were interesting, but this one delved deeper in explaining the customs and culture which became alive with Cecelia's life experience and stories. After touring the area you aren't shuttled into the same place that everyone visits and actually get to pick which bar you want to visit. I highly recommend this experience to everyone, and a special thanks to Cecelia for her warm and personable guidance.Written 11 March 2024
- Martina K0 contributionsGreat insight into food culture and hidden gemsWe had a great time discovering an area called Oimachi where we really were the only tourists. Lukas was super knowledgable and insightful about the culture and customs in Tokyo and Japan and took us to great places that we would never have found or ventured into ourselves. He also was great company.Written 31 July 2023
- Molly F0 contributionsTour like a localWe had a fantastic tour with Andrew! We got to explore parts of Tokyo that we never would've gone to on our own and eat at small izakayas we never would've found on our own. If you want to get outside of the touristy areas of Tokyo and explore like a local while learning a lot about Japanese culture, I highly recommend this tour.Written 6 July 2023
- QGBassist0 contributionsFun and enjoyable food and drink tour!Very well organized, informative, and declious. The stops all featured solid food and drink options, and our tour guide Andrew was helpful and highly knowledgeable. We really enjoyed exploring a neighborhood we otherwise wouldn't have travelled to ourselves. Would definititely recommend!Written 3 July 2023
- nickcI3200GC0 contributionsGreat way to see a slice of lifeWe had a fantastic time with Lukas who was insightful and knowledgable about LGBT life in Tokyo! We got to see a side of queer life we wouldn’t otherwise experience as tourists. The small group was friendly and the food and drink options were great. Would recommend!Written 28 June 2023
- W7376SEchristinek0 contributionsBook this tour!Honestly this was the most fun experience we had in the 7 days we were in Tokyo! Our guide Andrew was so awesome and taught us so much! It was very cool to see a part of Tokyo that most tourists don’t visit and also interact with the locals who were all very kind and friendly. Would highly recommend this experience!Written 30 May 2023
- steveprez0 contributionsGuide never showed up......Signed up for this tour and was very much looking forward to it. After four emails confirming the booking and giving detailed directions to the meeting point, we showed up at proper spot. Recieved a text from the guide stating he was at the point too. Problem was, he was in Kyoto, hundeds of miles away. Somehow I was assigned to a tour in Kyoto. When the tour company figured our what happened. They offered a curt apology and a refund. So, left stranded in an unfamiliar part of Tokyo and hungry, we started walking through the tiny streets and back alleys just next to the Oimachi Station. There are literally hundreds of small eating and drinking establishments in the few blocks surrounding the station. It's easy to step into them even if you don't speak Japanese. They will be happy to have foreigners in their place. Many have picture menus to make ordering easy. And of course, beeru is the word for beer. A tour guide is not needed for this experience!!!Written 11 May 2023
- Venture328958872900 contributionsVisited local spotsMy tour guide Andrews was great. He was fun to talk to and really knew the history of Japan. He took me to spots where the locals go and not to any tourist trap.Written 11 May 2023
- Cruiser674603355940 contributionsWorth the time and money!!We just finished our LGBTQ+ tour last night with Lukas. We are glad to have booked it! We were able to see a lot of unique and out of the way places in the Tokyo area (Asakusa and Shinjuku) that would have been hard to know about without someone who knows the area. It was well worth the time and money! Thanks Pinpoint Traveler and Lukas!!!Written 23 April 2023

Our guide Yapi was amazing! She took us on a wonderful tour of the old town, giving us lot of insights and taking us to many locations we would have never found on our own. We really appreciated the history and engagement. One of the highlights for the kids was seeing all the 80s and 90s technology in this cool little building and sampling lots of street food as we went. Our guide Yapi was super patient and tailored the tour to our group and pace. She also took photos throughout and shared afterwards. We would highly recommend.

Our tour with Michelle was the best we had on our Honeymoon trip to Japan. We learned so much about Tokyo, it's people and the culture from her. She went above and beyond in every degree and even found a gem of restaurant that had was able to accommodate my wife's Dairy and Shellfish allergy. She made us feel cared for and looked after. We have the highest praise for her and will recommend her to everyone we know who will be coming to Japan like we did.

It was a good intro to Tokyo. We saw lots of very different things from modern to ancient, and learned the difference between a shrine and a temple. Our guide was very sweet but we were hoping they would be native Japanese. Some of the info we got was proven later to not be fully accurate. Very fun walking tour overall, however.

Full disclosure, as a solo, woman traveler Japan was initially an intimidating endeavor. My guide, Ricardo tempered my unease and he was also extremely knowledgeable about all the sights we visited. Make sure you wear your sneakers because it is a lot of walking. I loved my experience with Ricardo and I appreciated his thoroughness and time. Definitely recommend this tour!!! Thank you again, and I hope your kiddos and wife are doing well Ricardo!

This was such a fabulous tour, showing us a side of Tokyo we never would have seen otherwise, with a witty and knowledgeable guide, Taka, who understood what we wanted to know and see, and explained so many things that will stand us in great stead for the rest of our time in Japan. So grateful we chose this tour early on, as it was such a good way of understanding a very different and intriguing culture.
