- 88joanj0 contributionsBREATHTAKING - We went twice! We flew this treasure twice, that's how meaningful and beautiful and breathtakingly beautiful it was. Our Pilot, Bob, was phenomenal both times. You can tell he loves the mountain and everything he sees. I cried, there are no words to describe what we saw. The mountain has its own weather so seeing it is luck but even when it is not so good because of clouds, Bob goes the extra mile to capture any sight of it from any angle. I would do it again if I went to Alaska. It was one of the BEST moments of the 14 day trip.Written 14 August 2016
- Jonathandm0 contributionsAmazing and breathtaking.Easily much more amazing than we expected. My mother is from Switzerland so she has seen her fair share of glaciers and was a bit skeptical. I took her on this trip for her birthday. She LOVED it and has not stopped talking about how amazing it was. Bob was an amazing guide and pilot. Very experienced pilot with an easy manner that gave us all tremendous comfort and worked hard to give us a great experience. He loves his job which turns out is contagious. I would recommend this to anyone.Written 13 August 2016

An absolute must do trip if you are in Denali. It was the best experience we had in Alaska.
Experienced firm who know exactly what they are doing. Very helpful and friendly check-in.
Our pilot , Bob, was amazing. So experienced and knowledgeable. He warned us in advance that it was going to be bumpy due to the winds. Make sure to tighten up the seat belt. He Pointed out the free plastic bags for personal use in the back of each seat. It was a wild roller coaster around Denali but absolutely worth it and felt totally safe with Bob at the controls and a strong, old plane. The views were breathtaking and he made sure that both sides of the plane saw all the great views. Some found the turbulence a bit too much and the lady behind us had to “borrow” both our bags as well as her own and her friends!

Flying with Denali air is a truly unforgettable experience. There is no better way to truly experience the wonder of Denali National Park and the Alaska range than flying with Denali Air.
The staff at Denali Air could not have been more friendly, Kai at the front desk was very professional and ensured we had good communication and that we knew exactly what to expect and coordinated our flight for our group of 6 with ease. The whole office staff was very friendly and made sure we felt comfortable and were well prepared for our flight.
Our pilot Bob (with one O) was an absolute riot, he seamlessly mixed humor with expert flying to make sure everyone on the plane had "outrageous" views of the spectacular mountain scenery. He was not only capable of delivering spectacular views but made sure that the ride was both smooth and exhilarating. He set up amazing shots and delivered an experience of an amazing natural theater of that could not have been more spectacular.
5/5 stars, would absolutely recommend to anyone looking to cap off their visit of a Denali National Park with an unforgettable flightseeing experience.

This was very interesting but I’m torn on whether it was worth it (and we book expensive tours all the time- ha!) It’s such a gamble on whether the weather will cooperate and you can’t tell from the ground. Our views were decent but not great. We spent about 15 minutes of the 75 minute ride in a complete white out and only saw Denali through a skinny layer of clouds. It was still magnificent but pricey for a family of four (kids are 7 and 10). Im sure if you get a clear day, you feel much differently.
I did not pay for the glacier landing since we were hiking the Matanuska glacier and for some reason, I thought it would check that box. I regret not booking the glacier landing though.
We felt safe and the audio tour is very good. They definitely need to upgrade their headphones- we all had headaches afterwards (compared to a much longer flight we did to Lake Clark with Bose headphones and had no issues).

We booked our land excursions for our Princess Cruise late in the game and most of them were sold out. I had wanted to go on a glacier landing trip but couldn't. This was the only air tour available and i had my doubts. Why wasn't it as popular? They claimed to have a 90% success rate in seeing Denali, but I've been taken in by over the top claims before so i was dubious.
Was I ever wrong! This is a top notch tour company with skilled pilots who know the area. Our pilot Dan was excited to be showing us the mountain and had a wealth of knowledge about the park. I especially appreciated his knowledge of glaciers which is a minor obsession with me. Within a few minutes after takeoff I was gazing at rugged mountain scenery as good as any in the world. The weather was cooperating and we were able to do the whole loop around the mountain, a seventy minute flight,
I can't guarantee that you will have the same conditions as we had. Alaskan weather is very unpredictable and doubly so near the mountain. But if there is any chance of seeing Denali, you can be certain they will find it.
This was more than sightseeing, this was a bucket list item I didn't know I had. It should be one of yours.

What an awesome adventure! The Denali Air staff and our pilot were personable, experienced and professional. We had to reschedule several times due to changes in excursions because of the fire in the park and ever changing weather conditions. The staff were wonderful and worked with us by accommodating us each time we had to rearrange our schedule. Our flight was in a PA31, Piper Cheyenne. It was clean and well maintained. I can’t tell you how exhilarating it was when we cleared the clouds and Denali first became visible. Our pilot, (I think his name was Dan), was amazing, I felt we got up close and personal with the mountain giving us a thrilling flight! He pointed out special features and told us about interesting facts and history. The topography was stunning. We enjoyed this adventure SO much! I highly recommend Denali Air for your sightseeing flight around Denali.

A must-do if visiting Denali.
This program is based in Denali, approximately a 10min drive from Park Entrance instead of driving 2 hrs to Talkeetna.
I had no idea Talkeetna was that far, and canceled that excursion and rebook with Denali Air. The program Operator was very responsive, accommodating, and very helpful with planning our trip. We changed our plan last minute due to the weather forecast, and Vivian in the office was very helpful and we were so grateful.
Our pilot and guide Mr. Bob gave us smooth and safe flights, and fun & very insightful sightseeing that was worth every penny.
You can only see this view... the Denali from up in the air. We highly recommend it.

We had a wonderful experience! We flew an 8 PM tour in late May that was incredible. Their planes are twin-engine which allows higher altitude than a single engine. The scenery is so beautiful, there are not enough adjectives to convey the wonder of the breathtaking mountains and glaciers. Everyone has a window, and the view out the windows on the opposite side works well too. There were a few clouds when we flew, but we flew under the clouds to see the dramatic mountains and glaciers on the approach to Denali, and both under and over to see the majestic highest mountain in North America. Highly recommended!

Our flight with Denali Air was spectacular. There were clouds on the ground when we took off, but we quickly ascended above them and were treated to amazing views of the Alaska Range and to Denali itself. Our pilot, Dan (I believe) was excellent, guiding the plane through the mountains and telling us about the landscape around us, and ride was smooth, even with the rain clouds below. We totaled, I believe, 7 passengers, each with a window seat. The company also provides shuttle service between their airport and Denali National Park and nearby hotels -- a plus since we arrived by train, without a car. If you’re seeking a view of this incredible geography, we highly recommend this well-run company and this particular flight tour.

Unbelievable! Our pilot Megan, did a tremendous job of flying so that each side of the plane would see equally incredible sights. She flew side to side of the valleys and dipped the wings for us to get spectacular views! We attempted to see Denali but to no avail, the clouds and rain prevented us from getting even a peak at the "Great One". She assured us a great trip instead by going east to a different range of mountains. Wow did she deliver! We were amazingly close to glaciers, mountain slopes, peaks, and river valleys. The fall colors were coming along which also added to the stark contrasts we observed as we flew. Megan eventually took us down for a very soft landing on the gravel runway. One of the most incredible trips with the most incredible sights I have ever seen and we didn't even see Denali! I will never forget this flight! Thank you to Denali Peak Sightseeing by Plane!

Thrilling, exciting and worth it.
We did not book in advance but just the previous day on the train from Whittier. The weather was sunny - very few clouds so we knew this was our best chance to see Denali. Our pilot was Bob - a very experienced one - he forewarned us that the flight would be bumpy to start with - it was and Bob did an outstanding jobshowing us all the glaciers and peaks in the area - he lowered the left and right wings allowing all of us to get a better view. Highly recommended.

Lol. Take a boat from Ketchikan to Seward, then drive several hours north. That’s literally like Florida to New York. Alaska is big!!
