About
Housed in the Natural Park of the Serranía de Cuenca, it is the second most famous Natural Monument in the province of Cuenca and the best possible place to get carried away and enjoy the didactic explanations of our guides, which will reveal countless data, and curiosities about the nature and history of a place that has served as the setting for a handful of films such as "Conan the Barbarian."
The guided tour of the Enchanted City is essential to understand the physical geography of Cuenca and the Iberian Peninsula.
Highly recommended for the excursions of the little ones!

About the operator
Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- 260isabele0 contributionsNobody showed up :(I booked this tour through Nattivus and 45 minutes before the departure time I received a cancellation email, then 9 minutes later a confirmation one. I tried to email, text and call 'Mirando pa Cuenca', the company that organizes the tours, but nobody responded to numerous calls. We went to our meeting point and waited a good 30 mins just in case it was cancelled by mistake but nobody showed up. We decided to walk into the city and by chance I found their office, when questioned, I was just told the 'manager must have been very busy to attend the calls' and that, in any case, the tour did not exist (so why selling it?), and obviously blaming Nattivus as a 3rd party. At the end we took a taxi to Ciudad Encantada that waited for us at the door and even saved money.Written 25 August 2023
- 423lesleyd0 contributionsTerribleI arrived at Calle Larga at 11.30am today, waited until 11.45. No-one arrived so I left to explore the city on my own. Very disappointed but just glad it only cost £5Written 1 April 2023
- andr_sa2330 contributionsOutstanding experience!Amazing tour!! The guide Isabel knew a lot about the city, and we had a very pleasant tour. She gave very interesting facts about the city, and adding on top fun comments! I think this is one of the best tours I have taken in my life, as she spent a good amount of time with no rush at all, thanks a lot for a wonderful experience, I definitely suggest anyone to take this great tour!Written 4 October 2021
- Matthias S0 contributionsVisita guiada teatralizada por CuencaViajesIt was Pablo who took us around medieval Cuenca, wiping away the polar cold in autumn with his wittiness, along with the lively theatrical support act resembling 'caperucita roja'. Great entertainment!Written 17 November 2019
- wildcolours620 contributionsBeautiful CountrysideEnjoyed the Enchanted Gardens & Cuenca. Very disappointed that the winery was simply a bathroom stop - a wine tasting should have been included. Guide was very knowledgeable but most of his tour was in Spanish - he translated less than half of the commentary into English. Lunch in Cuenca was limited because few places provided English menus. A second guide was added for the Spanish tourists for the visit to Cuenca. Our original guide spoke very good English for the tour of Cuenca but he was VERY VERY distracted answering his phone so then the tour ended up being only 45 minutes. I was paying for the tour....not the other person on the phone. He had calls to make so left us in the centre of the old town for another 30 minutes.Written 1 November 2017
- malteser30850 contributionsDay Trip to Cuenca and the Enchanted City from MadridWe booked this tour since it was the only day trip which combined a visit to Cuenca and to the Enchanted City from Madrid (where we were based). We did not know what to expect but the tour was excellent and our guides Alejandro and Victor were very friendly and extremely knowledgeable. From Madrid we were picked up and driven to a winery in the vicinity of Tarancon where we had time to have a coffee in their restaurant however I would suggest that this stop should incorporate wine tasting or a visit to the winery itself to make it more interesting. We then proceeded to visit the Ventano del Diablo for some amazing views of the river gorge and then continued on our way to the Enchanted City. During our journey from Madrid the surroundings changed from arid fields to lush pine forests until we arrived to the Enchanted City and started a 1.5 hr walk around the natural stone formations of this beautiful area. The tour then proceeded to Cuenca where we had around 1.5 hrs free time for lunch and then met our second guide to visit the old centre of Cuenca proper but we were first driven to a spot in the hills around Cuenca for some amazing views of the city. We then walked with our guide through the old city and visited the main attractions (although the Cathedral was closed on that day) and finished the tour on the San Pablo bridge right next to the Casas Colgadas. This was a great day trip and I highly recommend this tour to anyone staying in Madrid. Well done to Receptivo Cuenca for this amazing experience!Written 8 June 2017
- Guido10080 contributionsVery good tour with good stuffThe tour is very interesting and you see a lot you wouldn't see without a guide. The guides can also speak a bit English and the price is very good for a tour like this.Written 14 April 2017
- IMJR0 contributionsPrivate ToursI have contacted Victor days ahead of our visit knowing it was a busy period. There were 4 of us in a group ( my teenager daughter and 2 other girlfriends) He was very helpful and made it easy for us to arrange our requests for english private tours. And are we glad to do it! We had the night tour of Cuenca and Victor was very passionate and knowledgeable. He made sure we enjoyed our tour and gave us a lot of insider's information. He is passionate and is very proud of his roots. We also felt we had someone who we can trust and rely on requests for special tours and other information about our trip. Cuenca is beautiful and has a lot to offer.Written 17 October 2016
- Teabag0 contributionsTerrific tour and value. We booked a tour of the Enchanted City with this company for only 25 euros each and were surprised when our guide arrived with a car at 9.30a.m. and only ourselves to lead. Nuria was absolutely delightful with good English and excellent knowledge. We found that the time flew as we drove along the banks of the Huecar to our first stop, the Enchanted City. After, we visited a lake in a wonderful wooded area with lovely walking and bathing areas and then to a mirador with more spectacular views where we watched a group canyoning......seemingly a very popular activity in this area. By the time we returned to our pick up point in Cuenca old town it was 2p.m. Well worth every penny and definitely recommended.Written 5 September 2016
- lesleymarr0 contributionsCuidad Encantada nature WalksOur guide Victor picked us up in his car from our lodgings. He arrived at the agreed time. It cost E25 each for a 4 hour tour. It was most enjoyable and good value for money. He is intelligent, knowledgeable, speaks English well and enjoys his work. He went out of his way to make sure we understood and enjoyed the marvels of the Cuidad Encantada, for example, allowing us all time to take photos and pointing out Buzzards and boar's nests and other stuff we wouldn't have noticed otherwise. There was no visit to his brother-in-law's restaurant nor any pressure to buy souvenirs. Clearly 4 hours looking at rocks is not everyone's idea of a good time and I am not a geologist, but it I had a lovely time.Written 31 July 2015

I went here with a Spanish and English friend of mine yesterday. I´ve been wanting to go see la Cuidad Encantada for a while. We choose the guided tour (it was 1€ more than the 5€ entrance fee and was maybe the best value I´ve spent for an entrance ever). Our guide was Almudena and she was amazing. We learned so much about the natural and geological history of this unique natural place. She was an amazing storyteller. She told us about the plants, the rock formations, and kept the group completely entertained (even the kids) the whole time. I think the tour must have been an hour (I lost track of the time). The rock formations are so interesting. The tour was in Spanish only (I speak Spanish so I loved it). We translated things for my friend along the way. I will definitely add it to my list of trips to take my visitors to when they come to see me in Madrid. Please do the tour if you go. You won´t regret it.
