Really glad we did this. I hadn’t read reviews and was thinking it might be a faux submarine experience (kind of like a glass bottomed boat). This was a very real submarine and we got down to around 140’ deep. The tour was only half booked, so everyone was able to sit on one side of the sub. The advantage of that is the driver was able to ensure everyone got to see the same thing along one side of the reef. At the halfway point we were able to walk around to the other side and see views of the reef on our way back as well. Saw lots of fish and our pilot was even able to find us a turtle which was a treat!
Frances was our host and he did a great job of making the kids laugh while sharing a lot of great information about the waters around Aruba. I would highly recommend this tour.

This time, I did the submarine, but I've done a handful of activities with Depalm (including Seatrek at Depalm Island) and they've all been top notch. Depalm is my go-to for any organized activities in Aruba.

The submarine crew balanced light-hearted fun, information, and safety quite deftly. I'd definitely recommend for anyone interested in seeing the bottom of the ocean (who isn't?!) without scuba diving.

I would give it a 5 star review if it were not for the fact that we booked online through DePalm Tours, which charged us $13 for each ticket. Such a high service charge is unacceptable, and we were not warned that it would be added. Better to buy the tickets at the dock for the normal $105.

That said, it was a wonderful experience.

The 11 am sailing was full of small children, who were having a great time. If you want a quieter sailing, go at noon.

- It should be explained better how long it would take by surface vessel to/from the submarine entry point. The elapsed time for the excusrion was much longer than the stated 2hrs.
- When making the booking at the published price of $ 105 per person, additional and wholly unexplained service fees were added at some $ 11 per person. That's quite unacceptable.

This was more than I expected. Usually with many of these excursions I expect they’re going to be mediocre. This was an exceptional tour and the staff made it even better.

Oscar, Francis ,Jason they were all fantastic really engaging really great with children make sure to call them out made them feel part of the experience.

We had an opportunity to see two shipwrecks and experience all different kinds of sea life everyone got an opportunity to see you things the submarine would do one pass and then turn around and do a second pass so the passengers on the other side of the submarine could see the same items so no one felt like they were missing out on anything.

My son who is 12 loved it and thought it was fantastic and got so excited every time he saw something new. We as well two grown adults also found extremely entertaining and constantly searching for some thing out there in the great abyss.

We booked this excursion through Carnival Cruise Lines and couldn't wait. I'll start by saying, it DID NOT disappoint. I'd also like to address the last review, by user Deb S, who said there are hardly any fish at this location. She couldn't be more wrong, and I have plenty of photos to prove it. Yes, the seats are hard plastic, uncomfortable, and very close together. We didn't care, it was worth it. It's a submarine, not a charter bus.

Our excursion started by taking a 15 minute boat ride from the pier where our cruise ship was docked to where the submarine is located. Your mileage may vary if you book this through another source. We arrived at the sub and, after the earlier excursion got out of the sub, it was our turn. As said, it's tight and, if full, you get up close & personal with the people next to you, but what did you expect? It's a submarine.

My biggest complaint is that the windows are lower than the seats, so you have to bend over to get a good look out of them. Even so, the experience made it worth the minor discomfort. They have laminated cards next to each window that lists all the different types of fish you might see, including pictures. It was very rough on the surface that day, but once you get underwater, it's smooth cruising.

Our guide, Carlos, was informative and, at times, cracked some funny jokes. The Captain skims alongside the reefs and then turns around and comes back so the other side gets to see. Just when I thought we were done, we headed to deeper waters where we skimmed right by a shipwreck. After that, we still weren't done...we went passed another reef. Overall, we spent around 50-60 minutes down there, which was longer than I thought we would, and reached a depth of 141 ft. at the deepest point. But down there it's pretty baron because there isn't enough light & warmth for coral to grow. The action is all around the coral.

We saw countless fish of many different species, several different types of coral, two sea turtles swam by the sub, and one side got to see a stingray. One guy on the tour before ours saw a moray eel.

We enjoyed this excursion so much, we'll probably do it at different ports of call on future cruises. And next time we cruise to Aruba, we'll do this again. We'd even consider doing two of them back to back in Aruba because there's so much to see, we'd probably see different marine life each time. If you don't mind small, tight spaces and don't mind being a little cramped with the people around you, take this excursion. Don't think about those things and enjoy this great experience. One member of our group called it the greatest aquarium ever.

This was an awesome experience for us. We had hoped to get certified in scuba but COVID and our own health issues have changed those plans. So being able to dive deep and see the reef in Aruba in a submarine was a great alternative. We were blessed to be in a group that was only half of the sub’s capacity.
The staff were all amazing and the photos that they take before to trip for security purposes were inexpensive souvenirs of our trip.
It was fun.

This was one of the most memorable experiences ever for our family! From the time we checked in until the hatch was opened it was nothing but friendly service. The boat ride out to the submarine was a little rough but that was due to rough waters. The submarine was clean and lots of room and everyone gets their own view. We saw 3 shipwrecks and the announcer was very engaging and always pointed out any fish for all to see and both sides get to see it all. It’s something we will tell others about forever. Afterwards, try out The Paddock and eat lunch and have the bartender make you a M.A.V.E. punch (a new drink the bartender let us name).

We booked this tour through Royal Caribbean on an ABC island cruise. Perhaps it's better to book it through another agency or just walk in to the tour company on Aruba. That might have mitigated some of the problems we encountered.

48 people were booked for the sub that carried 48 people, 24 in each row of plastic bucket-type seats. There was no weight limit which meant that, because our group had a large number of very large people, we were squished together like sardines in a can. I am not claustrophobic but it was impossible not to feel hemmed in.

If we'd seen a lot of interesting fish and other marine life I might have been able to get past the cramped quarters but we saw little other than some coral and a few fish. That advertising photos above? Nah ah. Maybe in other ports but certainly not Aruba. So when the excursion lasted barely 40 minutes, I was more relieved than disappointed.

Positive:
Very cool experience to go 138 feet down to the bottom of the sea floor. We were able to see lots of different species of fish and the 2 (man sunk) shipwrecks! We also got to see The Renaissance hotel private flamingo island, from afar of course.

Negotiate:
The company really packs you into seats smaller than an airline seat. This means if a passenger is overweight, it makes for an uncomfortable tour.

I’d recommend this... if you have the extra cash.
