About the operator
Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- debbiebB2959IW0 contributionsstaff was professional and organizedMy husband and I had a great time, the staff was very professional and organized. We would definitely go again, we are experienced riders but it wasn't necessary for the excursion.Written 27 May 2024
- MartijnBonaire0 contributionsCavetour....absolute MUST DOToday I joined Adventuremakers with there Cave Tour. A absolute MUST DO on Bonaire. Marco, 1 of the owners and tourguide for this tour was perfect in every way. He explained the geological history about Bonaire, flora and Fauna. The 3 caves we visited were al different. Everything you do is explained perfectly This tour is possible for all ages, when you are healthy, can walk and not afraid of smaller spaces( not real small) So... 5 stars for this MUST DO ...with adventuremakers. 23-07-2022 Martijn.Written 23 July 2022
- runner1230 contributionsWhat a great experienceWe had the intention to visit the National Park on our own and to rent an SUV but due to a shortage of vehicles, we could not rent any. So we decied to make the tour with Advenure Makers. How lucky we were. We would never have had such detailed information about the fauna, flora and geology . There were 3 Landrovers with about 12 tourists on this tour and they often stopped to let us out and tell us about the things to see at that particular spot. I forgot the name of our driver/guide but he made this trip wworth more than the money we paid. At lunchtime they served a simple but varied lunch for us on tables and there was also a stop to do snorkelling at a small but beautiful beach. They provided the snorkelling gear for those who wanted to go for a swim. I have never been so happy that rental cars were not available. On our own this experience would never had been so instructive . I strongly recommend this companyWritten 26 February 2022
- miltonplane880 contributionsTotally AWESOME Bonaire Day!!!Thursday, 9/23 – BONAIRE An early alarm woke us and we met our friends at 6:45 in the Oceanview for breakfast. With a 7:00 arrival and a 7:30 meeting time with our tour with “Adventure Makers Bonaire” we ended up being the first group off the ship. Our tour guides Nike and Jon were waiting for us and led us to our vehicle for the morning tour, a former German military Mercedes open air truck. Thank goodness it had a canvas top for shade! By the end of the morning it was getting hot, but for the early tour it was a great way to see the southern end of the island. Our tour took us along the coastal road and we stopped to see the salt production facilities. These are huge and the mountains of crystal white salt are impressive. We also saw the White, Blue, Red, and Orange Obelisks along the road. There were signs to ships for the various loading areas in the sailing days. Two sets of “Slave huts” are preserved as well as an automated lighthouse on the southeastern point. We also saw multiple groups of flamingos as well as donkeys. The guides pointed out that the eastern beach is rough as the wind drives the waves there. There is a lot a debris that washes up on these beaches, much of it all the way from Asia due to the currents. Some of the residents gather up debris and turn them into artwork along the way. We made a restroom stop at a resort on a beautiful bay. The guides said we could get our feet wet but none of our group wanted to get sandy feet this early into the day. We cut that stop short and continued on to the Flamingo sanctuary. There we saw White flamingos. Flamingos are born White, after two years of consuming pink shrimp, their skin turns pink. The dirt road to the sanctuary was quite an experience in the German truck! We drove back to Willemstad and our guides pointed out various sites before bringing us to Epic Tours, our snorkeling tour provider to Klein Bonaire. While Epic has a set schedule of taking folks out, for the six of us they took us virtually immediately. A 15 minute boat ride took us to the drop off point for our “Drift snorkeling” outing. They told us to expect to be in the water 60 – 75 minutes and to just let the current take us along to where they had shelters set up on the beach where our towels and gear would be waiting. This was absolutely the best snorkeling experience we have ever had. Never have we seen such an abundance of various types of coral, and the number of fish of all sizes was incredible. I was very pleased with how well my Olympus waterproof camera battery held out as I shot a lot of video clips as well as many stills with the fill in flash operating. We had a great time and a few times I even doubled back to get a second look at a few areas. After about an hour, one of our group somehow had a fin come loose. This regretfully led to them having a bit of a panic attack. DW and I helped him as best as we could, guiding him along towards the beach shelters. At one point, with the shelters in sight (but still some distance off), he said that he simply needed to stand and broke away towards the shore. Part of our group was on shore so I was able to yell that help was needed. One of the Epic representatives, Laura, came running along the beach and came into the water along with one of our group to assist. They sent one of their boats and we helped our friend onto the boat. Not taking any chances, they immediately took him to shore and had an ambulance waiting. The paramedics worked on him and took him to the hospital to be checked out. In the meantime, the Epic crew on Klein Bonaire kept us informed as to what was going on. Needless to say his wife was very concerned. They sent a boat to bring us all back to shore and the captain kept us informed on the 25 minute ride back. The owners of Epic, Michel & Inka were waiting for us on the pier. They brought us to a shady spot to report that Gus was being well cared for at the hospital. Inka took his wife to the hospital while the rest of us spoke with Michel. We then headed back to the ship. Upon arrival at the Equinox, we went directly to guest services to offer any assistance needed should their cabin need to get packed up. Guest services was already aware of the incident. Celebrity sent a representative to the hospital. In the end, everything stabilized with our friend and he was released just in time to return to the ship with the Celebrity representative just before the gangway was brought up. Ship's medical went over everything with them and except for a “No alcohol for two days” medical order they were free to continue the cruise. Great support from both Epic tours Bonaire and Celebrity on this entire incident is acknowledged. Back on board, I enjoyed a short time in the shady pool and hot tub, and then got ready for dinner. It was really great to have our friends at dinner with us. Today was certainly a day that will always be remembered, but despite all that happened, I would love to go back to Bonaire to see the North part of the island and do some more snorkeling. - travellight0070 contributionsGreat Trip Through the National ParkGreat adventure in a 4wd vehicle up in the national park. We visited nature formations, flamingos, blow holes, snorkel spot, and had lunch. The guide was very informative about the landscape and wildlife. This tour is exactly as it is described. I enjoyed it very much.Written 19 July 2019
- JeroenRos0 contributionsGer is awesomeDuring our stay in Bonaire we have done two separate tours with this company. The first attempt was totally messed up by our tour operator 'Astrid' from Corendon who took the payment, gave us the voucher but forget to actually tell the Adventure Makers that we wanted to have this tour. Reluctantly me and my wife went to Washington Slagbaai in the second attempt, and it did not disappoint! 'Ger' was a very friendly and relaxed guide with a great sense of humor and much knowledge on the history and the nature on the island. We had a great time! Later that week we went on another tour exploring several caves underneath the island. Tour operator 'Astrid' from Corendon just told us we should bring closed shoes, but I would recommend bringing thick baggy clothes as it is not an easy excursion. One girl came in a nice dress which was not intact anymore after the excursion. Perhaps 'Astrid' should do the tour herself anytime soon so her preparation advice would be better. The caves were quite pointy as they were quite young. The ceiling was on some points not very high either. Overall this second excursion, also led by 'Ger', was definitely something I would recommend (with the correct clothing!)Written 13 July 2019
- Melissa B0 contributionsBonaire Land and Sea TourJust enjoyed this terrific 7 + hour Land and Sea tour organized by my cruise ship and run by Adventure Makers Bonaire! Overall the experience was fabulous and I would rate it four and 1/2 stars if possible and the potential for a full 5 stars is very real! I believe that some of the issues I had probably stemmed from the cruise ship’s inaccurate wording on the advertising of the excursion and also time limitations that were imposed on AMB by the ship due to early afternoon departure, so probably not AMB’s fault. My guide was Niek - he was friendly, professional, courteous, knowledgeable and enthusiastic! Our excursion was a small group - 12 guests divided into 3 Land Rovers each with a guide. We took a 3+ hour land tour in the morning while 12 other guests took the sea tour then we switched to the sailboat midday. We drove the north side of the island - some on road and some off. We saw gorgeous scenery and wildlife including a flamingo filled lake, drove through the towns of both Kralendijk and Rincon and explored the Museum and some of the wild coastal territory of the Washington Slagbaii National Park. Through all of this Nic and his colleagues gave detailed commentary and answered many questions. Rest stops and cold drinks and cookies were offered several times through the morning. Around 11 am we stopped at Captain Don’s Habitat, a lovely boutique resort catering to diving vacations, where we were served a delicious alfresco lunch that had been preordered for us and had a bit of time to rest before the afternoon excursion. This was one of the aspects of the tour that while lovely wasn’t what the ship’s write up presented. It said lunch while sailing on a luxury yacht. So that was a bit misleading. We then boarded a modest and well-maintained sailboat to sail and snorkel along the coast. Again a beautiful experience but in no way a luxury yacht. The captain and crew were excellent and informative. Snorkeling gear and instruction and a guided snorkel was offered to all. My biggest disappointment was that I had hoped to snorkel more but we only stopped once. Then we sailed quite a bit while beer and wine were served. I would have preferred two snorkel stops and less sailing. I can sail anytime but Bonaire-quality snorkeling is rare! Again this might have had to do with the ship’s early departure. All in all I would highly recommend this excellent company.Written 14 April 2018
- bolster_110 contributionsAn Excellent Tour of the Washington Slagbaai National ParkAdventure Makers gave us an excellent tour of the National Park in the north part of Bonaire. Four of us went with our guide in the Company's jeep from our resort through the national park. Our guide was very helpful throughout the whole day. He knew the history and the meaning of all facets we experienced on the tour. He also provided us with a wonderful lunch and refreshments throughout the day. We really enjoyed the museum at the entrance to the Park, the geological history we learned throughout the day, and the wonderful wildlife we were helped to experience. We also had an opportunity for an interesting snorkel as part of our tour. We would highly recommend this tour company for a national park tour in Bonaire.Written 13 February 2018
- Barb5100 contributionsBest way to tour BonaireReally enjoyed our day with Nick & Marko touring the north side of the island and Washington Slagbaai National Park. They provided information on history, geology and this particular desert-like environment we could have never gotten on our own. We also appreciated being in air-conditioned Land Rovers which could handle some of those large-rutted unpaved roads. They provided a tasty lunch at Slagbaai after our snorkel at Wayaka. Thanks again, guys. It was a lovely day!Written 30 January 2018
- Melanie L0 contributionsTour of the national park - SO GREAT!We had a full day tour of the National Park with Nick. This was the most informative tour I've ever been on. Nick answered a ton of our questions and he seems to really love his job (even if he doesn't he seemed like it and thats what counts!) We hit all the major points and did a great snorkel portion, loved this tour. Really felt like I learned so much about the island.Written 14 January 2018
- Tigerfan850 contributionsGreat way to see the parkWe had rented a car earlier in the week, but knew that it was not allowed in the park. We could see why. Anyway, we were picked up at our hotel and had some commentary on the way to the park. We knew in advance, and they reminded us, to bring our national park tags so that we would not have to pay again to enter the park. Our guide had drinks and food for us, which was nice. We enjoyed the ride through the park, but the highlight was the snorkeling stop. Our guide watched our stuff while we swam all around in a calm protected reef area. This trip would have been worth it for the snorkeling alone. This was also the closest we got to the flamingos. The lunch was fine, but not the highlight. Don't forget your swimwear for that amazing snorkel stop.Written 26 August 2017
- karmafan0 contributionsIsland tourFlew into Bonaire for a day and booked a tour with Adventure Makers Bonaire. They made it so easy - picked me up at the airport, dropped me anywhere I needed once the tour was done. Niek was my guide - great guy - very knowledgeable and friendly, took his time, didn't rush anything. Highly recommend the company and Niek.Written 23 June 2017
- krbwalk0 contributionsFantastic guides, good mix of stops and activitiesI thoroughly enjoyed my 7-hour Washington Slagbaai National Park Tour with Adventure Makers Bonaire. After being picked up at my hotel, I joined five other visitors from several different countries (the Netherlands, Luxembourg, and Germany) on this tour in two appropriate off-road vehicles with Adventure Makers Bonaire guides Niek and Marko. Niek and Marko were fantastic - super nice guys who took good care of us and provided really interesting information about the history, flora, and fauna of the area along the way and at each stop. (See tour description on Adventure Makers Bonaire's website for details of spots visited and activities.) I felt that this day with Adventure Makers Bonaire provided the perfect balance to my trip (which was mostly focused on obtaining my diving certification); it really allowed me to learn about and see a lot more of the island. Everything was so well-organized and I thought it was an especially nice touch that Niek and Marko provided snacks and drinks at a couple of stops, along with an impressive spread for lunch. At lunch they were even offering wine and beer! Prior to my arrival, I had been communicating back and forth about tours with Niek, who answered all of my e-mails very promptly. I was also supposed to do an Island Tour with Adventure Makers Bonaire on my first day on the island but unfortunately due to flight issues, arrived one day late and missed it. After my experience, I am sure I would have loved that one too. I highly recommend this company for any tours you want to take in Bonaire!Written 9 May 2017
- MUCner0 contributionsGreat trip to the Washington NationalparkThe trip is worth its money when you have a great guid. Nick was great. He knew everything about the history, about the vegetation and did the one step more as guid. It is good to do the tour guided once to her everything, what makes it more interresting. Tanks for the great tripWritten 29 April 2017
- Warren D0 contributionsA nice OverviewWe spent about 3+ hours on a tour of the south part of the Island in an open 4x4. We saw donkeys and cactus filled desert. In the wet lands we saw many stands of flamingoes. We stopped at a wind surfing beach and the vast salt flats. The slave huts from a darker past were eye opening. We have snorkelled many times before; so this tour helped filled in our understanding of the Island.Written 10 March 2017

What an amazing day we had!! Eddy picked us up at the Resort perfectly on time, after which we went to another Resort to pick people up. In the park, while enjoying a cup of coffee we quietly discussed the day. And we knew what to expect. It was my big dream to see an iguana, and Eddy took care of it!
We came to beautiful places, got lots of nice information with everything you saw and you could ask Eddy anything you wanted to know.
Lunch was in a beautiful place, where we even saw dolphins in the distance.
What a fantastic day trip! Eddy, thank you!!

We had a tremendous day with the tour guide John and his amazing sidekick Kithura in the car. The whole team delivered a great experience this day, but John stands out by his enthusiasm. He keeps explaining and telling about all sort of things during the park tour about the park, but also about the island itself.
We had an amazing day and highly recommend this tour to anyone who wants to visit Washington Slagbaai national park.

We visited the park with Adventure Makers Bonaire, and it was a very good surprise. They picked us up at our hotel in a well equipped Land Rover Discovery. Mark the guide, knows everything about the park and the island, and took us to some wonderful places around the park, explaining the region in details. Lunch was very good in a beautiful place Slagbai. It is a must to do in Bonaire. We loved it.

Actually you only have to read the other descriptions, it was a great day. In the morning we were picked up from the resort at 8am. We had a very nice guide Eddy, his mouth never stopped moving. Also had a lot to say and knew a lot about what we saw. Can't find any downsides.
Tours are also fun for children, although they should not be too young to understand it all.
If you have a weak back, I wouldn't get in, you'll be shaken up a lot in the jeep.

Yesterday we did the tour in the Washington Slagbaai National Park and it was great! John was our tour guide and he's been so nice, helpful and informative. We were lucky, since we were the only Germans on the tour and got our own private tour in German.
But again, John was the best guide we could have wished for, he answered all our questions perfectly and showed us a lot about flora and fauna in the park.
Highly recommended tour, we're really glad that we did it and did not just go into the park on our own because we would have missed out on a lot.

We had a nice varied excursion. From 7:45 am to approximately 3:00 pm.
We saw many nice places and guide Joost knew a lot about the vegetation and animals in the park. It was a fairly uneventful ride with plenty of stops and we were well looked after.

Our handler was "Loco" Eddy. Pretty guy! It was a beautiful trip through the National Park. Received a lot of information, be able to take beautiful pictures, snorkel and also a delicious lunch. Even the rain was perfectly arranged. It was very hot that day and a refreshing rain shower made everything cool down again. Highly recommended. Special thanks to the Guide. Not only the park, but also the other information he told about the island of Bonaire is much appreciated. Thank you very much!

If you can only do one tour on Bonaire, this is the one I would recommend! Our tour guide was friendly, knowledgeable, and kept the tour interesting even for my 7 & 11 year old from pick up to drop off. He kindly explained everything to us in English while another group was guided in Dutch. While at each stop we were with a group, just our family and guide were in our SUV and it felt like a very personalized experience. The wildlife and landscapes are beautiful. The snorkel stop was my husband's favorite of our trip. Wear shoes that are good for hiking on rocks as well as going in the water. The lunch provided had healthy tasty options for adults and kids alike. I highly recommend the cliff jump before lunch for a unique adrenaline-pumping experience!

The adventure started at the entrance, where we were given Stinapa "coin", as if to say: "Prepare for a wild ride!" With a Jeep rattling with excitement and three Dutch guides accompanying us with their jokes and banter, we were ready for the tour of a lifetime through the Bonaire National Park.
As we drove along bumpy paths, we were greeted by the majestic cacti that stood like sentinels along the road. Suddenly the blowhole appeared, a natural phenomenon that made us smile with wonder with its powerful bursts.
At lunch we were not alone - a group of flamboyant flamingos kept us company and added a touch of elegance to our meal amid the natural splendor. The Warawara kept an eye on us the entire ride and you saw them everywhere.
But the highlight of the day was snorkeling at Wayaka, where we felt like three musketeers exploring the mysteries of the underwater world, surrounded by colorful fish and breathtaking corals.
And as the sun slowly set and the Landrover Discovery brought us safely back to civilization, we knew that this day full of adventure and friendship would remain etched in our memories forever.

I am writing this while the horrors of the visit are still fresh.
Most importantly, if you have neck or back pain, do not go there. The drive over the terrible road surface is uncomfortable at best. Liken it to a really uncomfortable amusement park ride that lasts two and a half hours.
We got a pick up truck for our visit to Bonaire mainly because it was needed for the drive through the park. Save yourself the added cost and discomfort of having a half ton, get a more comfortable car and skip the park.
If you are game to hike a path with nothing but cactus and scrub trees and shrubs in VERY HOT weather then this might be your place. There are a few trails in the park that are touted for hikes but I thought this would be a special kind of torture to add on to the otherwise uncomfortable experience.
The best snorkelling in the park we were told was Wayaka Beach II. It was easily the least interesting snorkelling spot on Bonaire we visited during our stay. The size of the area, cloudiness of the water, lack of viable coral and minimal fish all contributed to this low impression of the area. We visited many easily accessed sites along the west side of the island with much better experiences.
Best part of the visit, we spied a young goat no bigger than a cat on the side of the road on our way through the park. Too cute for words.

Dear reader,
This reviewer did not join our tour & company. Their experience is based on their own individual trip through the national park. This is by no means a reflection of our standards and tour. If anything, this perfectly describes why you should book a tour. So if you want to avoid a similar experience make sure to book the tour with us!

Hi! What other fees you have to pay to make this tour? Apart of the tour itself which is 80 USD and the park entrace fee (25-45 USD), is there any fee for Visitor Center Museum/ Seru Grandi /Wayaka Trail/ Boca Slagbaai? I see these are mentioned as exclusions. Thank you!

I remember we paid a general fee for snorkeling/diving for the whole week we were in Bonaire. Our entrance fee to the park was less because of that. But I don’t recall any other fees. Hope that helps…
