About the operator
Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- C79-Family0 contributionsFriendly Crew/Very AccomodatingWe had a full boat of 8 people - 3 in our group and 5 in the other group. We enjoyed the crew and all the people. The morning before we left was very hot and still, but by the afternoon when we left it was perfect with a breeze. We got to go out to two locations, though Scotts Head was closed down due to the previous storm. 7 of the people got out and snorkeled. I was reluctant, but with the support of my husband and one of the staff, I got a life preserver and fins on, got in the water - very comfortable. No pressure to get my head in the water. Everyone loved seeing the underwater fish and coral - due to the warming of the water, the colors of coral were not vibrant, but nothing the company could do anything about. I'd highly recommend using this company. The pre-booking communication was super helpful.Written 17 November 2024
- pascaltG9909RF0 contributionsGreat crew! With their small 8 passenger boat, PH Whale watching’s crew was outstanding. They did everything they could to have us see whales and dolphins. I strongly recommend this company if you want to go whale watching.Written 1 November 2024
- 537carmend0 contributionsLovely boat rideWe didn’t see whales but not for lack trying. The boat was lovely and the crew was great but the whales did my show themselves that day.Written 29 April 2024
- ChuckD8980 contributionsExcellent Whale Watching ExperienceSelwyn ("Selo") and Brittany provide an excellent whale watching experience. (Assuming that the whales cooperate. We saw two sperm whales and were able to get within about 100 feet of them.) Selo is very knowledgeable and is passionate about how some of the tourist operations are disturbing the whales and possibly driving them away. As has been noted, the boat is an open skiff with a canvas top for shade and seating for 8 people. It is a seaworthy boat. On the day of our trip there was an unusual south wind that caused 3-4 foot swells and significant chop. I have 60 years experience with boats, and Selo was an excellent captain in these conditions. As I told him, he kept everybody "safe, comfortable and reasonably dry." Except for the one dash to where the whales had been sighted, he kept the boat oriented to the swells for safety and comfort. When returning to the dock he went right along the beach, providing a smooth ride and excellent views of Dominica. Suggestions: There is no bathroom (head) on the boat, so limit your fluid intake before the trip. Parking is hard to find in Roseau, so if you are driving allow extra time to find a space and to walk to the dock. Check out the south end of town, around Turkey Lane, for parking.Written 16 April 2024
- chadhN6490XI0 contributionsAwesome way to spend the morning!Brittney and Solle? Did a fantastic job. We had a brief spotting with a little sperm whale. They didn't have another outing booked for the afternoon so they kept us out much past the time that was alotted. We got to see another one after that. They also had some rum punch for everyone! They then took us back along the coast of the island to see some of the other sites. Will definitely book again with these two when I come back.Written 16 April 2024
- Duke11400 contributionsLots of dolphin and sperm whales in some rough seas. The sea was rough, but our crew did a wonderful job of providing great views of dolphins and once further out , several sperm whales. Our Captain wore a Dive Dominica shirt and worked well with his friendly crew who took great care of us all. Some passengers had mobility issues, yet the crew took great care of them and made sure they got to see the incredible creatures we were seeing.Written 19 March 2024
- I1028OQdavidw0 contributionsGood fun but no whales!PH met us at Cruise pier and walked us 5 mins to board small boat with 6 other people plus 2 crew Enjoyable, occasionally bumpy ride but unfortunately no dolphins or whales. Would do trip again if in the area as it was a fun 3 hoursWritten 8 March 2024
- 311trish0 contributionsA definite first choiceWe were impressed with the knowledge, Know-how , and personality of the 2 who took us out. Brigitte and sello (sp?). We saw 6 whales and had plenty of time to observe them. It was impressive to see the technology and inter ship communications that gave us the best chance of seeing whales. We loved the small group setting and the ecological consciousness of the company. Well worth the time and money.Written 7 March 2024
- krispi630 contributionsSave your moneyThis was the worst excursion. The boat held 8 passengers and 2 crew. Very small boat in very choppy ocean waters. We felt beat up by the strong waves. Prepare to get wet. Also No bathroom on this tiny boat. Do not recommend Most of the couples were 60 and up. No rum punch offered, and had to ask for water. We've done whale watching tours before from Viator, and had a great catamaran, bathroom, snacks. This particular one was not worth the steep price.Written 2 March 2024
- chrisbM5380FK0 contributionsWonderful snorkelling experienceWe had a wonderful snorkelling afternoon tour to Champagne Beach and Scott’s Head on 22nd Jan 2024. The crew, Brittany & ?Selwyn were really friendly and and great guides. There were only 4 of us doing the tour so plenty of space on the boat. The snorkelling was superb at both sites, beautiful clear water, pretty reefs, plenty of fish and of course the incredible bubbles at Champagne Beach. Unfortunately we couldn't go to the hot baths as the water levels were too low but this was compensated for by sailing close to a pod of dolphins. I highly recommend this tour & this company. Thank you for a great afternoon.Written 2 March 2024

- 337andrewl0 contributionsSperm whales here there everywhereGreat trip. Saw many sperm whales, one pilot whale, and a dolphin. Got a great boat trip along the west coast of Dominica. Guide was great.Written 12 February 2024
- Claudia G0 contributionsAmazing experience with 2 very good whale loving guidesThe experience was amazing. We were a small group and 2 phantastic guides that really did everything for us to have a great experience. The boat was equipped to find the whales and our guides were really knowledgeable about the whales and the families in those waters. We also did not get closer to the animals than as per the guidelines - which some other boats do and that bothers the animals who then just dive much quicker. The boat had a sun shade, we got offered water and a rhum punch on the way back. We had 5 sightings - we were lucky and we had good guides. I would book again with this operator and highly recommend them. Also the information regarding meeting time was communicated the day before. All very professional.Written 4 February 2024
- 350gabys0 contributionsPH - awesome in every way!PH tours So my story with PH tours spans two years- I went out last year and first time no sperm whales..but met the wonderful warm team of Brittany and Sellou who were almost more disappointed than me and so got me back not once but twice! Each time was a joy despite no sperm whales- I saw dolphins and pilot whales and enjoyed wonderful boat rides and the excellent and expert company. ‘ I’ll be back! I promised. This year I returned to a big hug from Brittany- (honoured they even remembered me from all the hundreds of guests!). We went out again. Still no whales. ‘I am cursed!’ I moaned. We joked that clearly one of my ancestors must have offended sperm whales because this really was exceptional bad luck- each time people were seeing whales the day before and after - with an average 80% chance of seeing them. They got me back again ‘we specialise in breaking curses!’ Finally! a stray female had luckily remained slightly behind her family. They identified her- ‘Pinchy’ I was almost in tears I was so happy! The only sad thing was a couple of bigger boats had people on who they were taking out to swim with the whale. The whale was clearly distressed by it, trying to get away from these idiots chasing them to get their shot. I was quite ashamed at humanity. PH have a small boat, they stay a respectful distance ( yet still get you gently as close as possible)and really care and know about the whale families in the area. My whole experience with them was amazing - they feel like friends who did absolutely everything to give me the privilege of seeing one of these amazing creatures. If you decide to go - don’t be a greedy, embarrassing idiot and try to swim with them- they are driving the whales away and soon no one will see them anymore. Go with PH, the intelligent choice!Written 3 February 2024
- Philippe G0 contributionsPerfectThe team is very knowledgeable and is sharing a lot of information on the whales - the boat is great and fast, and the hydrophones lets them localize the whales so that we go to the right place - we have seen multiple whales, it was a great experienceWritten 1 February 2024

My first time snorkeling with a guide and it was a great experience to learn about what we were seeing. I never would have seen the electric ray or known what the eel was, without Kerry. Even his simple tip to turn toward the setting sun made the bubbles brilliant. Our youngest was anxious about snorkeling in the deeper water, and Kerry was so kind and gracious that our son became comfortable and was able to enjoy it with the rest of us. Highly recommend.

Incredible snorkeling! Kerry, our guide, was exceptional. He would dive down and point out various fish and coral. Saw a wide variety of wildlife. Quality equipment and truly the best snorkeling we have done this trip. Highly recommend this tour company. Very service oriented and committed to maintaining the nature preserve.

We had a lovely time on this tour! Selwyn made it easy to arrange a tour for three people and the price was great. We saw all sorts of fish, eels, squid, and octopi, the famous champagne vents, coral reefs, and part of a shipwreck! We highly recommend!

We went with as a group of 4 and it was excellent. I’m not the best at snorkelling but our guide Trevor took loads of time to make sure we were safe and happy in what we was doing. Saw loads of fish, the reef and even an old cannon. We really enjoyed the experience and recommend it to anyone visiting the island.

I came for just a casual swim to see the bubbles but I met Adin and he offered to take me out for a guided coral reef tour.
Talk about nearly missing a blessing!
While my head was underwater Adin pointed out several beautiful fish, interacted with different parts of the reef in a safe way to show me how diverse and interesting it all was and he had plenty of cool information and humour for when my head was above water lol
The best part for me after seeing the bubbles was seeing an octopus! And then watching him WATCHING ME swim past what must have been his hangout spot!
10/10 recommended and definitely ask for Adin👌🏾

I spent the whole day at champagne reef and did a one hour snorkeling tour with PH Whale Watch. I saw a yellow frogfish at the table top coral, the champagne Bubbles and a lot of other marine life. The guide was excellent and all was very safe. They provided me a snorkel vest which I could oral inflate. Mask fins and snorkel were perfect fit. Got a free drink and nice conversations at the bar with the friendly staff.

Amazing! We saw a lot of fish including a Barracuda and camouflaged Electric Rays on the sea floor, as well of course the bubbles at champagne reef.
Our guide Selwyn was great at diving down and pointing out things of interest, and was super friendly and helpful selecting the best equipment and ensuring we were both happy through the tour.
Finally we were let down by a taxi driver at the end of the day, but he saw that we were waiting and helped us find an alternative way home, which he didn't have to do. Thank you!

Celwin was a fantastic tour guide. Was really great to also have Pam (owner with husband Harry) join us on the reef. He was very knowledgeable and went out of his way to point things out on the reef. My favorite part was the hot spring bubbles coming out of the reef. Looked like champagne bubbles, thus the name. We benefited with a very personalized tour with low season and no cruise ships!! Loved it! (PS. They are located right below the welcome to champagne beach sign, we missed it the first time)

Had a great time, I was on my own with a family of four. The coral isn’t too far off the beach and with the fins there isn’t much swimming needed. Nice relaxing time, with points of interest explained… glad I went for a tour instead of doing solo and hiring fins as I would have missed all the good spots

This was the best snorkeling 🤿 experience ever !! Zee was an excellent guide!! My husband and I were the only ones so we had a personal one on one with Zee helping us in anyway we needed. He was very patient! The champagne bobbles, the reef 🪸 and all the beautiful fish 🐟 🐢🐠 were very beautiful. The only negative is the walk on the shore of rocks. Very hard to walk and a little hard getting in and out of the water. Once again he helped with that. All equipment was provided. Definitely recommend!! 🙏🏻🫶🏼😎
