About the operator
Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- X831PTmikeb0 contributionsWorst excursion ever! Not worth time it takes ( picked up 6:45 am returned 8:30 pm) especially when majority of time is riding in bus or on an open safari truck Pick you up in smaller van and then take you to a transfer spot where others arrive awaiting for your bus. (Organization skills could use some work) Takes about an hour before you start driving to Samana. As usual on excursions have to stop at a roadside souvenir shop to donate some money sir buy drinks In total close to 3 hrs to get to boat dock for 30 minute ride to Levantado island. Was told buy tour rep before we booked that it was only 1 1/2 hours to get there! The island is great with one of nicest beaches you will ever see. Was told by tour rep drinks were included in package ( did get a rum and coke on boat ride) but at the island there were no included drinks except for a coke or water at lunch. Including lunch you are on island for 2 hrs and 10 minutes From island short (15 minute) boat to another dock where you board an open air truck for a transfer to waterfall portion of trip. Takes about 30 minutes to get there. Here you go by horse to waterfall. It’s another 20 minutes going on a downhill rock path ( would not say very safe) with a guide constantly nagging you about his tip. Once you get to end of horse trail you have another 10 minute walk down at least 250 steps to the waterfalls ( there should be a warning that only fit people do it!) The waterfall is nice but it’s so crowded with people and their guide taking pictures ( guides trying to get more tips) and access to waterfalls not the best After 10 minutes you have to reclimb the steps and then ride horses back up path to starting point. (Listen to guides go through how much they want for tips all way back again) They do offer you a water or a rum before you get back on truck to go to dock where you boat ride back to bus Of course bus ride back you have to stop at souvenir shop again (bathroom and buy drinks as nothing on bus) Takes about 3 hours again before your back at hotel Would definitely not recommend as spend more time in transportation than actually doing anything Paid 150 USD per person for 3Written 25 April 2024
- 32dmitriir0 contributionsNot worth it.260 USD is too much for a taxi ride and a mediocre lunch. Unfortunately, it is impossible to contact the provider until you book an activity. We paid 160 USD when we booked the activity, then we were asked to pay additional 100 USD for a pick up.Written 25 April 2024
- adelong5920 contributionsFun fun!So fun! Our driver Manuel was so great! Such a fun experience! Only downside was that we were there with every cruise ship passenger on the island. It was BUSY!Written 27 March 2024
- MiliLove0 contributionsReady.Set.JumpGreat adventure. Be prepared to swim whole journey. If you bring your cellphone, make sure to bring a 100% waterproof case. It’s about two hours walking, hiking, swimming.Written 3 February 2024
- C3790KLjodief0 contributionsHorrificThe horses are forced to walk 1-2 miles on softball sized rocks. Several have bloody cuts on their lower legs due to this. The horses have trouble walking and trip making it unsafe for them and the rider. Each person is assigned a guide to help with the horse, at the end of the ride the guide tells you that they are not paid by the ranch and you owe them $20 per person. Our tour guide confirmed that they are not paid and you are expected to pay them. If LIMONE RANCH would fix their trails so the horses could walk you wouldn’t need a guide for each horse. Not to mention guests wouldn’t be horrified by the awful conditions they make the horses walk trough or get badgered by the guides for money. The travel time to and from is 2 and a half hours each way by bus, you spend about 2 hours traveling by boat during the day with limited time doing any activities. There is a buffet style lunch between the ranch and the island. So 50 other people go trough the buffet with you, there is nowhere to wash your hands and no sanitizer. This tour is a nightmare just like Limone Ranch. I strongly recommend that you spend your money elsewhere.Written 18 January 2024
- L2418RIwendyk0 contributionsAmazing!Absolutely stunning waterfall! GET A GUIDE! Trail was buggy and muddy. We hiked the entire thing. A little over 8 miles. Do your research. This hike is no joke…and getting to the trail head is a little tricky.Written 5 December 2023
- lovethebeachsand0 contributionsDon't Do It!!By the time we left our resort and got back it was over 10 hours. Long bus ride on crazy busy roads, braking, turning. That ride was over an hour. The catamaran ride was almost an hour, then walking through dark caves, another long catamaran ride to Cayo Leventado where you walk to a hut for lunch, $9 drinks and sit at a beach for 3 hours where you are inundated with people trying to sell you massages, t- shirts, shells, cigars, drinks, food. Jelly fish in the water and on the beach. Should have stayed at our own resort beach. Another long ride back on catamaran and bus. The worst thing is the guide talks the whole bus ride and tour of caves which would be informative but he first does everything in Spanish, then French, then English. The washrooms at the places we stopped were disgusting. Toilets but no water to flush them, so basically outhouses. Overall, we felt we wasted an entire day of our vacation and night as well because we were ill after it was all over, for $100 US eachWritten 30 November 2023
- kar4840 contributionsComplete immersionSpectacular experience you just can't get taking pictures of a waterfall in the distance! Note: folks from the cruise ship seemed surprised at the hike up - it was long and steep. And worth it! Also, you can only purchase the photo package prior to the tour. I was disappointed after.Written 18 October 2023
- 661britth0 contributionsVisit to el Limon waterfallThis tour was not like other tours/excursions I’ve done. It was essentially a private tour with a local family of three guiding the horses for my family. I wish I had known that because usually we end up being part of a larger group. They work only for tips so I tipped 40% because this family literally walked the entire trek and was so patient with us despite the language barrier. Even then, I don’t feel like it’s enough. Local guides should be fairly compensated. The waterfall was beautiful and well worth the hike! And the local lunch that was provided was the best meal we had in the DR!Written 1 July 2023
- karolisg1650 contributionsGreat day tour full of activities!!We missed our initial day booking but communication was great and we got booked for next day. The actual tour was well organized and the guide was helpful with everything we needed. A great day tour to see natural beauty of Samana bay and meet the locals. Highly recommend it!Written 1 April 2023
- GREENCHAIN0 contributionsMajestic mammalsLovely watching these majestic mammals in their natural habitat and only down side was too many people on the boat and not enough time to observe. It is truly a bucket list thing to do in the Dominican Republic in March.Written 28 March 2023
- MRM26_travels0 contributionsMust do!Amazing!!!!! I was pregnant during this trip and they were very careful and accommodating. The your guide was very knowledgeable and dedicated. We had such a great time.Written 25 March 2023
- TeaBurns0 contributionsScammed from a localThe whale watching was magnificent! Bacardi Island is beautiful but be wary of locals on the beach and your purchases. Certainly put a damper on an otherwise amazing day.Written 25 February 2023
- SandrannCaterham0 contributionsMaybe the worst excursion everWe were on the coach, with a change of bus, for three hours before arriving at the the coast. We were not told this. Very hectic there, ushered onto a catamaran, which was overcrowded in my opinion. The captain of this drove like a complete idiot, throwing people around and soaking a good number of us. We were not warned that we would get wet. There were very few whales around, but every time someone from another boat or our boat saw something, we shot off at great speed. No self respecting whale would stay around. The sea was quite choppy and a number of people were ilI. I really felt for them, but still we kept dashing around and being thrown about. Even if there had been whales, the catamaran would have been completely unsuitable as only those sitting at the side could see over the side without standing up and this was impossible as it was so rough. Eventually arrived on the island, which was heaving with people. Toilets were not great, beach loungers came at a cost. The included meal was mediocre and there were flies all over the food. We had been told we would eat at the best restaurant on the island! It was awful. Then had to hand around for 21/2 hours for return catamaran on a beach that was nowhere near as good as the one at our hotel. Wished I’d stayed there. Our guide, was rather hyper, did his best to be jolly, but was really rather irritating. Avoid this trip at all costs.Written 10 February 2023
- Christopher H0 contributionsGreat experienceWe had a wonderful experience with this tour. Jonathan was our tour guide and he did a great job. Our group was small, just us and another couple, which was way better than some of the huge groups we saw on other tours. The waterfalls were a great time, and the other stops around the city gave us a feel for the local life. Very happy with our experience.Written 9 February 2023

Was a wonderful experience! We booked a room the night before so as to arrive early and was delighted to see that a restaurant was next to the place we were to be picked up at.
All-in-all, we had a wonderful time and our tour guides were very attentive, patient, answered all questions, and gave us many many details.

We boarded a boat in Samana for a short 40 minute ride to Los Haitises National Park. It is a beautiful park consisting of caverns that have pictograms from the Taino Indians. Afterwards, we boarded back on the boat to Cayo Levantado for lunch, beach time and shopping. This small key is off the shore of Samana which boasts an All-Inclusive Adults Only Resort. So those of us on the tour only had access to other side of the island where we had delicious food waiting for us and access to the beautiful beach and time to walk around and visit the different, kiosks to purchase trinkets and souvenirs. This is a must do excursion!

We sat three hours in a bus, we sat a further five hours on iron benches on the catamaran on a choppy sea, only to see a few birds, two small caves and a lot of dirt brought by in the inland rivers into the ocean.
The lunch on the "famed" Cayo Levantado was abysmal for the price we paid for the trip.

Caves really exceeded expectations. Do take a flashlight and good walking shoes. Some climbing involved.
