Outback Safari Tour from Punta Cana
Escape the tourist trail in the Dominican Republic on this full-day outback safari tour from Punta Cana, including lunch. Journey around the countryside in an open-top safari truck, immerse yourself in local life as you tour coffee, sugar and cacao plantations, pay a visit to a local school, then cool off at one of the Caribbean’s most beautiful beaches.
What to Expect
Meet your guide at your central Punta Cana hotel and jump aboard an open safari truck to kick off your outback adventure. Wave goodbye to the town and set off into the wilderness to explore the real Dominican Republic, away from the busy beach resorts.

Hear about the sugar, cacao and coffee industries that have been the lifeblood of the Dominican Republic’s economy for centuries. Peek behind the scenes of a traditional sugar cane plantation and learn about traditional techniques used to extract the sugar, such as the ‘trapiche’ mill. Then, discover the world’s biggest cocoa industry with a tour of a cocoa plantation, followed by a visit to a coffee plantation.

After lunch (included), immerse yourself in local life as you meet with a local family and be welcomed into their home to enjoy a cup of delicious Dominican coffee. Pay a visit to the local school too, where you’ll get chance to learn about education in the Dominican Republic and meet some of the students.

After a full day of exploring, finish your day with a stop at one of the Dominican Republic’s most idyllic beaches, and cool off with a dip in the Caribbean Sea. Finally, travel back to Punta Cana, where your tour ends with a drop-off at your hotel.
