Santo Domingo: the first city in America founded by Europeans, the capital of the Dominican Republic. It was founded in 1496 by Bartalomé Colón, on the east coast of the Ozama River. In 1502, Nicolás de Ovando moved the city to the west coast of the river. It is a cosmopolitan and flourishing city, full of historic buildings that show the Spanish conquests of the American continent. It is the largest city in the Caribbean. Santo Domingo is a varied and interesting area for both tourism and its people. There are many invaluable old buildings that can be visited in excellent condition today. A pleasant walk through the historical part of the city is needed to discover how important and beautiful these buildings are.

During our trip, we cross Altos de Chavón (city of Coral), an artistic city near La Romana, on the southeast coast of the Dominican Republic, one of the most famous places in the country.

We saw the most amazing beaches and turquoise water. The staff was very entertaining and made the day so much fun. Lunch on the beach was delicious.

Overpriced even for a bargained price
Unprofessional, unsafe, overpriced even with a bargain. You ll have to make the best out of despite all. First, be ready to get loaded to a back of a big truck with broken seat, and no safety belts, for a 35 min ride to the location. Once you check, you ll get a personalized salesman selling you the souvenirs. If you choose boogies, take with you your own scarf, else you pay $5 for each. Also be ready to get muddy. They ll drive but you and get muddy water all over u. Part of the experience 😜 The ATVs are pretty rusty, old, no seat belt, no helmet, rusty breaks, swinging the car when you hit them. Ask for God’s mercy! They take you first to the coffee/ cacao plantation. It s a more of an open room for sale pitch to get you buy products. Busy and crowded two speakers in Spanish and English, barely can hear what they say. I read so much about DR coffee and cacao beans, and was expecting to visit a real plantation and get a real tour. DR has one of the world’s best coffee and cacao beans. Next they take you to Macao beach. We were told when buying the tickets we ll get to swim there and the water is shallow. Yet, when you get there, they try to get u to spend more money, and tell you can t swim. Next is the cenote, definitely not what they showed us on pics and videos the prior day. We came to DR for fun and adventure. We made the best out of it and had fun as family.

          Overpriced and awful
Advertised as a snorkeling trip . Only got 15-20 min in the water very little to see . Lunch was horrible! We were left sitting in the bus on the way back , for over an hour waiting ( it wasn’t ever communicated as to the reason . The ttour leader was extremely rude yelling at people . THIS WAS OVER PRICED AND AWFUL . Very disappointing

          Shuttle central transfer and excursions
Amazing service especially from the representative I was assigned with called Lovely. She was so nice and extremely helpful. She not only helped us with finding our transfer but also provided us with lots of information on different things to do in DR and the different excursions. She also helped us with booking the excursions and stayed in contact with us throughout our whole trip. Great customer service overall! Will definitely recommend booking with shuttle central and try to request for Lovely if you can as she is the best and will make your experience in Punta Cana easier

          Not good at all.
We found the agent with my name on the plate. All good, I thought. No, she told me the driver was late and would spend the waiting time to sell us tours. After she took no for a no, she called the driver, who was there all the time. I saw him the second we came out of the terminal. The car was a wreck and neither the driver or the agent knew where Jewel Palm Beach was. We preordered the trip and they knew the name of the hotel. What about a little research?

          DO NOT BOOK THIS
not a good time...boat would not start to begin the trip. would not start after the snorkeling pit stop. transfer AT SEA into small dingy with NO LIFEJACKETS in 6 foot waves was terrifying, and they packed over 30 into a boat for 20 at most! DO NOT PAY EXTRA FOR LOBSTER. we were a party of 5, and 3 of ours were so old the meat was chalk like and inedible. another couple gave us their lobster as they would not even try it. The buffet lunch was good, the island was nice, but that is all I can say that is positive about this trip, and we paid $780 Canadian for the 5 of us. What a waste of money and a day of vacation time.

Used this company for the transfer from the airport to our hotel and absolutely safe, recommended. Tomás was informing us perfectly about their tours too.

          Driver didn't show up
Unfortunately I have bad experience with this company. 16th of October from Jewel palm beach on our way back to the airport, the driver didn't show up. At first we were told he will be 10 minutes delayed and then after this time we were advised to call a taxi if we can't wait any longer. We paid for a private transportation however at the hotel ,same time , there waited another person to be taken by the same driver who paid for a private transportation. So the company took money twice.

          Best Shuttle Service
I loved my experience with one click. They send you notifications with pictures of who your driver will be and give constant updates on arrival and departure times. They also were a big help when I needed to book excursions out of the resort. I highly recommend them. Ricardo was the best. Thank you!

They messed up but made it right.
Update: Ive changed my star rating for the company as the representative reached out to me and sincerely apologized for their oversight and refunded me for the return part of the trip. Because of their acknowledgement, ive given them a better rating as they were on time and we didnt have to wait even one minute. Their vehicle was great with fantastic air conditioning. Original Review: I want to start off with a warning to everyone. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY if you don’t want to get scammed. I saw a few bad reviews of this very same scenario but ignored them. Im guessing a lot of the positive ones are planted by their own people. Im just thankful I didn’t get conned into booking anything else with them through their contact at the airport named “Jose Martinez” or Rafael as they tried to also sell us some excursions with tempting offers. We probably would have been screwed over with those too. Because of all the negative reviews I was super cautious. It didnt help that the booking module on their site was in Spanish with no English option so I was a little hesitant. I decided to price out a single one-way journey first for my group. For a one way journey, it showed that the distance from the airport to our resort was 15km and the price also reflected that. Then I priced out a two-way return journey and the distance doubled to 30km as did the price. So at least I was confident I wasn’t confused with the language. So I proceeded to booked them. I felt a little reassured that there was an option to pay at the airport instead of paying online so I opted to pay in-person when we got there. I got my confirmation email with a little note saying thank you and all the usual pleasantries. I was told I would be contacted a day before my flight with further instructions on where to meet. I didn’t get any email a day before my flight so I sent out my own email to them and I didn’t get a response till an hour before my departure. I was given a nice image of where the driver would be waiting for me in the arrivals hall and I was told how I can connect to the airport wi-fi upon arrival and how I can reach out to them. I felt a little reassured that all was well. Upon landing in Punta Cana, I got a welcome message from Rafael checking to see if his rep Jose had reached out to me. I informed him that he did and let him know that Jose told me he was waiting in the arrival hall. We met Jose and he seemed like a great guy. Anyone will behave great when they want to fleece you. He gave us tips on the country, offered us excursion packages and other goodies. He asked me to pay off the full amount and I didn’t have a problem with that but I asked him to confirm that it was a return journey. He asked to see my confirmation letter and he acknowledged that it was indeed a return journey. With that reassurance I settled them in full. We were in Punta Cana for five days and my spidey sense kicked in two days before our departure, I reached out to Rafael to confirm our pick up at the resort and he didn’t respond at all. I reached out to Jose and he said he would take care of me and will make sure we are picked up on time. Again I felt (falsely) reassured. The night before we flew, I again messaged Jose to remind him that we would be at the lobby at 1:00 and to make sure his man is present. He said “no problem”. I finally messaged him the morning of our departure sending him a gentle reminder. Finally it was 1:00pm and we checked out of the hotel early at 12:45 and we were ready for our pickup. Nobody showed up! There was no vehicle. I messaged Jose and he tells me he JUST checked with the office and they told him I only paid one way. I forwarded the invoice to him showing him that it was a 2 way journey with double the distance and double the price and he said the big boss is saying it’s only a one way fare. I argued and he wouldn’t budge. I had no choice but to source out a vehicle from the resort. Stay away from these scammers. The ruined a beautiful holiday and left a horrible distaste in my mouth for the country.

Stayed in the Zona Colonia which is really good area for food, drinks and close to the places of interest in City. Easy to find good food and everywhere was clean. Used Lonely Planet which is from 2017 and very out of date! As usual, found quite a few restaurants had closed down but there are quite a few new ones. Food is reasonably price, something for all budgets. Restaurants all very clean and every toilet we used as clean with plenty of handwashing requirments.

Be aware that it is difficult to find English speakers at most places. There are also new attractions not in the guide - zoo (which we didn't visit but is supposed to be good), aquarium (also not visited), cable car ( did visit but need a taxi to get to start, well worth a visit, takes an hour to go to the top and back and cost £1! Good view of the so-called barios), Museo de la Atarazana great museum about shipwrecks and their history with signage in English, Plaza de la Cultura park is not a 'scruffy place' but has been refurbished and work still going on, worth a visit.

Modern Art museum closed, Museum of the Dominican Man has only one floor open, Alcazar de Colin closed, Museo de las Casas Reales has only one floor open, Fortaleza Ozama closed, Las Damas being dug up and lots of road works all over the city. Also, lots of churches closed most of the time, have to keep trying to find them open! The 4D cinema was entertaining!

Transport - there is a new metro system but nowhere near the Zona Colonia. Without my partner's Uber it would have been haggling with taxi drivers. Uber was brilliant for long and short journeys, arrived very quickly, no haggling and very cheap!

I booked an English speaking tour and was placed on a Spanish speaking tour. Luckily the guide was able to explain some of the things to me but I felt like I missed a lot of information. It was also very difficult to confirm the pickup time. My voucher said 12am, when I called the company to confirm they could not give me any information, Viator told me 12pm, and then I finally received confirmation less than a day before.
