When my niece was planning her trip here to Jamaica, she only wanted to book one tour, The Kingston Music Tour. From the start, Karen, our tour contact, ensured we were kept updated thru regular calls. She sent an itinerary along with contact info for the driver, who showed up ON TIME. The tour includes the complete Bob Marley Museum tour, a stroll thru National Heroes Park, a vegan lunch at Ibo Spice Portal (get the date/nut smoothie for dessert), a stop at Orange Street Music (founded by Pablo Moses), then a drive thru Trench Town before walking down Water Lane to see the colorful murals. Sonja bought LPs by Garnet Silk, Ina Kimozee and Desmond Dekker at the record shop. I moved home 23 years ago and this is my first time taking a family member on this tour. It won’t be the last!

We spent a week in beautiful Jamaica and the Kingston Jamaican Music History Tour was easily one of our favorite parts of the visit. We are big music fans and can't recommend the tour and its gracious guide Karen enough. My boyfriend and I were en route to a wedding in St Elizabeth, so we only had two short days in Kingston. The calendar tours fell on Thursday each week, but Karen was kind enough to take us on a day that worked with our schedule.

We began the day at the Bob Marley Museum (formerly Bob's home). Inside the house, our charismatic tour guide showed us everything from the mixing console responsible for many of Marley's recordings to his favorite denim shirt to the bullet holes in the old kitchen walls from the failed attempt on his life. Outside the house we saw the tree beneath where he wrote "Three Little Birds" and got to meet famed Jamaican percussionist Bongo Herman who we bought a few records from.

Following our lunch break, we went to the Jamaican Music Museum near the harbor which highlighted the origins of Jamaican music and housed many archival recordings and instruments. We followed this up with a trip down Orange Street, driving by Prince Buster's Record Shack and stopping at Rocker's International where we met curator Mitchie Williams and picked up some more vinyl. Karen then took us to Studio One where founder Clement "Sir Coxsone" Dodd's son Courtney let us rummage through some old record boxes and purchase some 45s. We ended our day at the Trench Town Culture Yard, a museum dedicated to the history of the 'U' block community yard where Bob Marley, Peter Tosh and Bunny Wailer met and lived while forming the Wailers and while making their first record.

The Music History Tour was so comprehensive that we ran out of time to go to Tuff Gong International, Bob Marley's recording studio and record plant. Karen went above and beyond and offered to take us there the following morning before we left Kingston. We were so glad she did because this proved to be a highlight of the tour. We enjoyed The Jamaican Music History Tour of Kingston and our trip to Jamaica so much that we're already talking about a return visit!

It was on of the best day ever. I love Bob Marley and reggae music. I have been dreaming to do that tour for a while. And on the top of that Karen is an amazing tour guide. I know what I am talking about because I work my self as a tour guide !

Tour was great, Karen picked me up on time (which is pretty rare on the island), we started with 56 Hope Road (Bob Marley House) , and the tour of the estate was amazing. We then went to Devon House for a typical Jamaican Patty lunch, then to the Jamaican Music Museum , was small but very well done. Orange street and a car tour of Downtown Kingston was next. Karen was very knowledgeable and gave us great info on the sights as we were driving by. Lastly we went to Trenchtown, and had a great tour of the location where Bob Marley used to live and where the Wailers were founded. it was another great tour.

In Summary, this was a tour made for music lovers and if you are in Kingston and love Reggae, do not miss out on this tour!!
