- chrisbQ1210DW0 contributionsMarvellousI cannot give high enough praise for this Company, having booked this trip our guide Mia Sam and driver Massive were excellent hosts and even had a surprise picnic lunch on the beach with rum punch of course. Botanical Gardens was beautiful together with the set of Pirates of the Caribbean, the waterfalls and the beach it was certainly value for money. Don’t hesitate to book with these guys x thank you for a brilliant day xWritten 9 December 2023
- scotteF4359LW0 contributionsDemiron is aceExcellent tour, Demiron is a great guy and an excellent tour guide. His energy and enthusiasm is exactly what you want from a tour guide. He clear is very proud of his island and rightly so. He cant do enough for his tour and explains all about the island in great detail. The tour we went on went to went out of Kingstown up to Fort Charlotte where one of Demiron's friends takes you around and explains a bit of the history. You then head up on the long ish drive to Dark View Falls which a a great Waterfall which you can go into if you want. Demiron then gave us a snack box with wonderfully sourced local snacks (cake, patty etc) and a cracking rum punch. We then headed on to one of the sets from Pirates of the Caribbean then on to the beach. England were playing in the World Cup so we wanted to get back to the ship, Demiron was more than happy to drop some of us back to the ship and head back to collect the tour who stayed at the beach. I was fortunate enough to ride in the front of the very comfortable minibus so got to speak to Demiron who is a really nice guy and clearly wants you to have the perfect tour for you. The only word of warning for me is that the falls are quite a long drive across the island and if you get travel sick it could be a bit tough due to the roads on the island (but the falls were definitely worth it IMO). Sadly, our next cruise doesnt visit the island else we would definitely use Detention Tours again. Great guide, loves his island and knows it intimately which shows.Written 18 January 2023
- sunstreaked0 contributionsA major trip highlight!Everything about this experience was fantastic - it was a highlight of our eight-day trip to SVG! Can't say enough good things about it - the whole day was 'ours' and was perfect. Demiron Samuels (Sam) picked us up at the Kingstown Ferry Terminal (as we were staying on Bequia), and whisked us off in his van (with wifi!) to Dark View Falls. Based on our interests, he included a stop at Fort Charlotte and at Wallilabou Recreational Park on the way to the falls. He even arranged to get us complimentary fresh nutmeg as a souvenir of our day after learning how much we love to cook/bake. We also had lunch after the Falls at Beachfront Restaurant in Chateaubelair (amazing roti and local juice), all included through the cost of the tour (absolutely no extra costs once we paid for the tour). The scenery along the way up St Vincent's Leeward Coast was jaw-dropping, and the company was even better - my boyfriend and I loved spending the day with Sam, and all the knowledge of St Vincent he shared with us. He was just the right amount of 'chatty' for a tour guide. We hope to visit St Vincent again, and when we do - we'll definitely be booking another tour with Detention Tours!Written 21 November 2022
- Liz R0 contributionsRelaxing day in the rain at Botanical GardensI went to the Botanical Gardens to spend time with a friend and on that day it rained. However we spent a lovely time in the gazebo chatting, eating and enjoying the sceneryWritten 21 September 2022
- Morgan W0 contributionsGetting to Know the IslandGood tour with many opportunities for pictures, plus chances to buy local crafts, while learning more about the local history. It may have been a time thing, but the churches we drove by as oppose to visiting. ( But it was Holy Week, too.) We spent the most time at Fort Charlotte. Would advise to wear comfortable walking shoes.Written 21 April 2022
- Holidayfromcamberley0 contributionsFantastic tour of St Vincent! We spent the day with Samuel and had the best time! He tailored our tour to exactly what we wanted and even tweaked it on the day when we needed to change it. We started with a visit to Forte Charlotte and has an interesting guided tour by one of the guides. We then went onto Dark View Waterfalls which require trekking through a beautiful rain forest (amazing!!) before heading to the Pirates of the Caribbean film set. We were also celebrating a birthday and Samuel arranges a cake! We had fun on the bus and he provided drinks, beer and WiFi - we named it the ‘beer party bus’! St Vincent is beautiful and he knows everything! He is also the best driver on the island :-)! Highly recommend booking him!Written 19 January 2020

- Tricia E. C0 contributionsVolcano HikeDuring a short active visit to St. Vincent, we were collected by Detention tours specifically the amiable Mr. Samuel, to take us up the Windward trail and back down the same way, Mr. Samuel had informed us that this would also be his 1st hike of La Soufriere. One of our party has respiratory issues and was not a hiker, so the ascension of the steeper portions of the trail was somewhat challenging and Mr. Samuel stayed behind chatting, and self depreciating humor to make what may have otherwise been and arduous journey, very enjoyable. Along the trail at intervals there are bamboo stairways, the surrounding vegetation was lush and provided ample shade on what was otherwise a warm clear day. The views and general atmosphere at the top makes the effort to get there totally worth it. The sky was clear the air cool, the views are magnificent. We took pictures and stood in awe of the natural beauty. The ascension took approximately 3hrs for the entire group, and the descent took approximately 1.5hrs. We would heartily recommend Mr. Samuel as a tour guide because he is knowlegable about St. Vincent and his humor, professional yet easy going personality kept us well entertained, he also provided enough water and snacks to restore our energy upon our return to the vehicle. Overall this was an unforgettable experience, with a fun guide. Recommended!Written 21 November 2019

We have visited St Vincent previously and were looking for something different to see on this visit. We were visiting via cruise ship and Samuel was waiting for us just outside the terminal building. His van was comfortable with AC, although in the end opted for opening the windows for a natural breeze. I contacted Samuel directly and he was very prompt and responsive in answering all my queries. The tour was very interesting with Samuel being a great guide and also serves an amazing rum punch! Would highly recommend a tour with Detention tours.

We had the pleasure of experiencing a captivating New Year's day around St. Vincent thanks to our outstanding guide, Demiron.
His passion for his island, & knowledge about the history, culture, and natural beauty enhanced our trip through some of St. Vincent's HIGHlights. Literally, driving through some of the hi-elevation attractions, we loved the windy roads & breathtaking views, including Fort Charlotte, Soufriere & surrounding islands from afar.
Exploring Dark Falls, Pirates filming locations & black sand beach were of course fantastic. Demiron also took us to hidden gems off the beaten path, showcasing the authenticity of St. Vincent beyond the typical tourist spots. We appreciated his infectious enthusiasm, attention to our enjoyment, professionalism, his homemade rum punch, special mocktail & snack-lunch & surprise treat were icing on the cake!
He left us with great memories, also a newfound appreciation for this Caribbean gem, thanks to Demiron's genuine hospitality. Highly recommended!

We were on the P&O Aurora in November 2023 and wanted to visit the Dark Falls in St Vincent. We booked a tour with Sam whom we met on arriving at the port in Kingstown. We were the only guests on the tour that day, so Sam organised a friend of his to provide a taxi for us instead of his normal minibus. Ashskian operates Fluffy Taxi on St Vincent and has a very comfortable Toyota taxi. She took us to the planned destinations and accompanied us to the Dark Falls, across the bamboo suspension bridge. I was able to take a shower under the Falls - amazing! We went to the Inn where Pirates of the Caribbean was filmed and had the best rum punch ever (included in our tour price).
The weather was liquid sunshine all day unfortunately, so the beach was off. We were back at the ship with a couple of hours to spare - a very enjoyable day.

When we arrived on Oceania Riviera we intentionally did book a shore excursion as we knew once ashore we would have a great choice of local tours provided by wonderful island taxi guides. We met Demiron Samuel who has a very good size vehicle where the 5 of us enjoyed a beautiful 4 plus hours seeing the best sights views and hearing Demiron perspective of St. Vincent it’s people how they live in this challenging Caribbean paradise. He also served as our official photographer at various places. If you are going to visit St. Vincent do reach out to Mr. Samuel he knows everyone on island and will make your experience one you will always cherish and remember. Steve Heydt. Global Traveler.
