Awesome tour with LISA!!!
Nov 2021
This was one of the best tours we have ever done on a cruise vacation! Awesome local food and drinks - the conch chowder was the surprise hit for us. And we learned about both food traditions and the culture and history of the Bahamas. However, what made our tour was our guide, LISA!!! She made us feel like her family for the day as she took us around Nassau. She was personable, funny, knowledgeable and we really enjoyed our time on the tour with her. We have been recommending this tour to all of our friends and family who cruise and are looking for something "different" to do in Nassau. We'll be back to Nassau in May and my husband is already talking about which restaurants he wants to go back to! I'll also add that Murray was very communicative about a small change to the drink offerings and quickly responded to our question about my food allergy. For anyone concerned about health protocols, sanitizing was required at all stops, we dined outside at all locations as the weather was nice, and my husband and I were seated separately when dining from the other family on the tour with us.

Fabulous tour, lots of local food, drinks and history.
What a fabulous food tour . Lisa, our local guide was funny, passionate , knowledgeable and an absolute delight. We had 5 food stops at little restaurants that you would not find on your own. Don’t eat breakfast before and you may not want dinner afterwards. Wear stretchy pants. Lisa is passionate about her history and we learnt a lot during our walk . I’ll always remember the Bahamas flag now. Definitely recommend.

A great way to spend a few hours in Nassau
What a fun afternoon! Lisa was our guide and she was wonderful!!! She made sure to quickly break the ice for our little tour group of 8 people so we were soon all happily chatting like old friends! We got to try a nice variety of food which was all tasty, but it was more about learning a bit if history and feeling like we got to soak up little bit if the local culture. I highly recommend this tour.

Captain Ron made this tour incredible!
This was our first time in the Bahamas and I felt that Captain Ron made the experience 100x better. Right off the bar of meeting him he was super charming and friendly. He made you like a longtime friend. And to top it off the food was delicious. And I love his little history lessons he included in the tour.

Fulfilling on all fronts!

This was a great way to spend some time in Nassau and taste some scrumptious food whilst finding out all sorts of fun facts. Our tour guide, Mark, was super informative on all sorts of things, history, culture, food (!) whilst also being very entertaining. It was very fulfilling both mentally and in your tummy! I would absolutely recommend this tour.

Excellent food tour
I love to do a food tour when I’m traveling. I personally think it’s an excellent way to get a feel for the city or town, get exposure to some local spots, and get some cultural / historical tidbits while walking around.

I thought Tru Bahamian Food tours did an excellent job! Our guide Lisa was AMAZING. She was super knowledgeable and I was thankful for all of the history and information she provided. She also was hilarious and was a pleasure to spend a few hours with!

The bites were great, we started a Bahamian Cookin a spot I had wanted to check out and got some steamed chicken, conch fritters, Mac and cheese and peas and rice. They also brought us out some excellent homemade spicy hot sauce. If you can handle a bit of heat definitely ask for it.

We also had probably the best bite of the whole week in the Bahamas the conch chowder. I’ll be honest this was the bite I was least pumped for and I ended up liking it the most. It was a tomato based chowder versus cream (eww) and I think that’s why I loved it. It somewhat reminded me of Gumbo. Delicious.

There were other bites too but I don’t want to give it all away, but take this tour. You get a nice walk around downtown Nassau, a lovely afternoon, and some tasty bites!!! I can’t recommend it enough!
