About the operator
Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- David B0 contributionsRecommended. It was excellent. The hike after leaving the vehicle is on a dirt trail but once you arrive at the falls, nature's beauty and swimming is outstanding. I'm 77 years old and made it. Others can judge from that. Excellent experience.Written 16 January 2025
- CamH1630 contributionsgreat service, but the price almost tripled in 3 1/2 monthsGreat service and price in Nov/dec 2024, BUT when I went to rebook another airport transfer in late Feb, the price went from 66 dollars CAD for a couple return, to now being 177.77! There is no reason for that increase. Super disappointing.Written 1 January 2025
- Explore5237840 contributionsGreat host, Terrible bitesThe host was awesome, picked up on time and was very helpful and spoke great English. However the area was saturated with jelly fish and I was stung over 100 times. My body is covered in bite marks, which leads to my concern, why did the excursion take place if the conditions were not safe!Written 31 December 2024
- Symba230 contributionsAnother beautiful trip to Camino Real16th Trip back to beautiful Hulatulco and staying at Camino Real. This time we stay in a Condo, it was wonderful to see so many of the same staff. Firstly it was a pleasure to see Yasmin on reception. Always with a smile and extremely helpful in everyday. And greeted by Hermann when we pulled up in our taxi from the airport, feels like coming home each time we return, service is impeccable taking care of our luggage. Headed to Breakfast the very first morning, wonderful to see Juanita again service first class! This time we are not all inclusive as we renting a condo for the first time, new experience for us. The price for package holidays have increased so much the last few years it has become extremely expensive, we appreciate like most things have gone up around the world, but everyone has their own budget costs for vacations. Juan who takes care of the bed chairs, always very helpful and pleased to see us again, rinaldo at the beach club always fun times and Luis at the beach resort who always does an amazing job! We had early dinners at the beach club which were excellent! With superb service. And what a view by the ocean. It was lovely to hear quiter background music and not Playing Xmas songs like last year. The management must have read our comments, so big thanks! as we love to sit and hear the ocean . And enjoy this beautiful peaceful setting, it’s why we return year after year, keep up the good work. The grounds are kept so beautiful, the pool so clean and wash rooms at the beach so very clean. We noticed the upgrades, nice touches. We like the idea of signing for beach towels and having to return each day, that way no one just leaves towels lying around. It’s a good feature this year. Thank you to everyone who looked after our needs , for those we didn’t mention names , you know who you are and we appreciate how hard you all work. Look forward to return next year, can’t wait!Written 19 December 2024
- joemccarthysghost0 contributionsBaby turtlesTito did a great job. He knows the area well, being from here, but his English great because of having lived in the US. He made sure everyone in the group was comfortable and explained things to everyone in Spanish and English. The turtle release will be a lifetime memory . Much appreciation to the staff at the turtle center.Written 31 May 2024
- bradziker10 contributionsAverage rideI did the five bays and it took a few hours from the cruise dock. The first half of the ride was very good as the guide spoke excellent English and gain great commentary on the land and other information. We saw a blowhole that was interesting. We stopped for 1/2 hour at Maguey Bay for swimming. This was a major disappointment as it was just a beach - no coral or fish. Others commented the water was a bit chilly, so I did not bother to get in, and seeing fish was one of the reasons I signed up. They did serve bananas, watermelon, coke, fresca, water, beer and margaritas the entire trip. The ride back did not have as much commentary. It overall was average.Written 17 April 2024
- BF111220 contributionsBadFor $65 dollars a person and on top of that $30 to get picked up at our resort was a red Flag! I said whatever we can take a taxi. But then I received a message saying the excursion ppl were stopping by our resort so we can ride with them. Okay kool no problem. Then when we get to the port we pay to get in okay kool no issue there. But then there was a confusion or idk but everyone boarded the catamaran but us that were in the vehicle cuz our guide was late with our tickets. So now we are the last ones to board whatever it’s fine we made it. But then the whole ride was not what we expected or what the excursion said we were going to do. Basically it was not good we should have done the $33 dollar excursion it was the same damm thing. Definitely not the party boatWritten 27 March 2024
- Patricia W0 contributionsGreat day & great guide!Great fun day! Excellent guide … Eduardo! Safety was a top priory for him & we felt very safe with him! He was very specific on walking & climbing with care in the water & on the rocks! He was professional, knowable & showed us a wonderful day! I would recommend this tour and EDUARDO as a guide VERY highly!!!Written 12 March 2024
- noreenm1360 contributionsEco tour experienceIt was a bit of a long drive to get there, once we were there we had a lovely little boat ride and saw many birds and crocodiles. We had a lovely snack on the island there. After we went to release the turtles and saw a beautiful sunset. However we were unaware we were going to the turtles and did not know we needed to bring more money with us.($200 per person in pesos) . We got home after 9pm.Written 25 February 2024
- Corporatepilot130 contributionsMeh.We got a small van on the way to the hotel which was much smaller than advertised. The ride back to the airport the rides were 30 minutes late for pick up and they sent 2 small cars instead of the van. Drivers were friendly on the ride to the airport. Driver on the way to the hotel couldn't of cared less about us.Written 10 February 2024
- carolcX5158EX0 contributionsUnique experienceHour and a half drive from Huatulco to small, non commercial, turtle facility. Short explanation of turtle life, then taken to beach and given 5 baby turtles to release at nightfall. 200 pesos donation. Lovely experience.Written 3 February 2024
- avalondorothyj0 contributionsTour was good but had hidden costs. The guide, Carlos, was good. He had knowledge and a genuine concern for the environment. The actual sites/tours were interesting and what we expected, which was good. What was not good was having to pay an additional 200 pesos per person per site, as the description of the tour states that admissions are included. I understand that these sites are trying to protect and preserve wild life, which costs. But after paying almost $250 CAD for 3 persons, this added another $100 to the trip. The description on TripAdvisor needs to be updated to include this information.Written 31 January 2024
- chander20180 contributionsReleasing Baby Turtles is Fun!This was a neat experience. Eduardo picked up our group of 6 (English speakers) and two Spanish speaking families. 11 total. He gave us some information on the region, in both languages, as we drove the 90 minutes to the sanctuary. Then we had a quick intro, and time for questions, at the centre and paid our 200 pesos fee before being driven to the beach. We each got 5 baby turtles, from Rosita, to name and release. Eduardo had a special red light that didn’t hurt the turtles eyes and he took pictures for us. It was fun to watch our turtles make their way to the sea. We had to coax Floyd as he wanted to stay with us but we finally got him into the ocean with his brothers and sisters. We thought the centre missed an opportunity as they only had six t-shirts for sale. I’m sure they could have sold a lot of turtle merchandise if they had it in stock. We returned to the centre and then we drove the 90 minutes back in the dark.Written 28 December 2023
- erinmT3482GY0 contributionsHighlight of our tripBest tour I have ever done. The waterfalls exceeded expectations, lots of time to swim there. Our guide, Alex, was excellent, gave us lots of local information on the drive up, which kept it interesting. He was really good with our 2 children (6 & 10). Food at the restaurant after was also excellent. I would highly recommend going with a guide as opposed to on your own, as we would not have known all the routes up and down the falls. 10/10 trip.Written 12 December 2023
- KellyKnutsen1230 contributionsA great way to try different tacos and feel like a local. We had a very nice evening out, being taken to 3 different taco spots. Felt like a local! It was fun. Our guide spoke very good English so he was able to answer all our questions about the Huatulco area and the cute town of La Crucecita. I found it a little expensive, but would still recommend the tour.Written 20 November 2023

This was our 2nd time in Huatulco, Oaxaca & really wanted to visit the city. The drive is worth it! Be ready for a curvy drive through the mountains with beautiful views! The stop at San Jose de Pacifico was really a coffee stop but super cute! From there another 3 hours before arriving to the city. Oaxaca City is colorful, beautiful, & rich in history. Since it was only my husband and I , our time was flexible in regard to what we wanted to explore. The Hotel Helena was small but so nice & clean with friendly staff. Definitely take a stroll in the evening, enjoy a coffee, or dinner with mezcal drink! The archaeological sites are more than I could have expected! Rich in history and simply beautiful! Then, the Mezcal tasting was phenomenal! That’s a learn how it’s made and learned about quality. We also truly enjoyed the Artisanal shop. They were we had the opportunity to see how traditional craft is made and all the hard work put into their products. The family owned business was welcoming, kind, and did not pressure us into purchasing any items. However, I could not resist the beauty purchased a few souvenirs. El Tule is a majestic sight to see. Settled in a cute town with favorite flowers and wonderful people. Due to having to return to our hotel for Covid testing, we unfortunately had to cancel one stuff but hope to return and explore Hierve El Agua. Overall, despite loving the whole Experience, I would have appreciated an extra day in the city. The exploring Felt rushed and the reality is that the long drive can and very likely will tire anyone! But it is absolutely worth it! Our guide and Driver, Benjamin Castro, was knowledgeable, kind, funny, and flexible with any adjustments we needed to make. He has great driving skills and I had to go off to him for getting us there and back safely. He also made recommendations along the way for various stops, things to see, or food to try. We are very lucky to have him with us throughout our overnight stay. Altogether, I definitely recommend this trip and make sure to take your camera!

My husband and I went on this tour with another couple and we all enjoyed it immensely. While the drive is long, it's definitely worth it. Our tour guide, Karla, was fantastic. She spoke very good english and reviewed the rich history within the area. She took the time to translate for us and also took some wonderful photos of us during the tour. Our driver, Antonio, was also great and very friendly. He handled the drive wonderfully.
It's important to note that the drive can induce motion sickness. I'm not particular prone to motion sickness, but elected to take a long acting Gravol prior to the trip and I'm glad I did. It's a very curvy, hilly road with a lot of hairpin turns so be prepared!
Our first stop was at a restaurant in San Jose del Pacifico. The mountain view was breathtaking. We enjoyed a hot cup of coffee which I definitely needed to warm up. Ensure you take a light jacket/sweater for this tour as it is cooler in the mountains, especially in the morning (approximately 12 degrees Celsius).
Next we visited San Bartolo for a brief lesson on how black clay pottery is made at Alfareria Dona Rosa. Very beautiful and detailed pottery pieces can be seen and purchased here. Following this, we headed to the ruins of Monte Alban which was the highlight of our visit. We spent approximately 90 minutes here which was an adequate amount of time. It's important to note that upon our arrival here it was quite hot and sunny so ensure you pack the sunscreen and a hat.
Eventually we headed to Oaxaca City and checked into our hotel for the night. The hotel (Sta. Helena Plaza) was very nice, quiet, clean and comfortable. Once checked in, we began exploring the city. Karla led us through the busy downtown area where we did a lot of sightseeing, shopping and, of course, eating and drinking. Karla helped translate the food menu and even reviewed the type of cuisine that Oaxaca is famous for, such as the tlayuda (or as Karla nicknamed it, "Oaxacan Pizza").
The next morning we visited El Tule -- the largest and oldest tree in Oaxaca City. And when they say large, they mean large! I was shocked by its size. We then drove to Teotitlan del Valle and visited Dixza Rugs and Organic Farm for a demonstration of the making of hand-woven wool rugs. The amount of work and talent that goes into making these beautiful rugs is outstanding.
Our last stop before heading back to Huatulco was another ruins site called Mitla. While it is a fraction of the size of Monte Alban, it was still just as extraordinary.
Overall, this excursion was remarkable and we are so glad we did it. Thanks so much for the great experience, Karla and Antonio!

Travelled from Huatulco by Tar Airlines to see the opera La Traviata. Stayed at The Holiday Inn Express (again). A quick trip and as we needed to be in Oaxaca Sat morning, we flew with Tar Airline. A great choice. 20 minutes there and 15 minutes on our return flight. Holiday Inn fabulous as usual. Wonderful performance at the Teatro. Oaxaca didn’t disappoint. Lots of Christmas festivities, lights and decorations.

Our group is most interested in visiting Monte Alban. How much time will be allowed to visit these ruins during this tour?
