        An incredible 10/10 experience
One of our favorite experiences in Puerto Vallarta. Chef Manuel is a great instructor and creates some incredible dishes for you to enjoy with local ingredients. He’s very knowledgeable about food and explains a lot about how the different ingredients create balance and flavor. I highly recommend everyone enjoy this experience while in PV, both locals and travelors.

        Yumm!
My husband and I loved Manuel’s dishes! He met us at the market, asked a few questions about our preferences, and planned a menu on the spot. It was fun to walk around the market with him, and learn more about the local foods/produce. He kindly answers any questions (and I tend to ask a lot of questions). We really enjoyed watching him cook, learning more about the area, and petting his adorable little dog, Max! The meal has been better than any restaurant we have eaten at so far! We left full, and happy! Thanks for everything!

        Great experience for food lovers
I highly recommend this cooking lesson! My wife and I were visiting PV on our honeymoon and really enjoyed spending time outside of the touristy spots, and with this tour, Manu gets to show you a local side of PV. The market you visit is the same market many of the restaurants use to get their ingredients. Manu is very nice and knowledgeable and has great recommendations on where else to eat like a local. Manu's cooking is fantastic! He's flexible and will help bring your food ideas to life. He presents his cooking in a way that inspires confidence in my own cooking - however it's unlikely I'll be able to get my cooking as good as his! Thanks Manu!

        Will do it again!
Manu is amazing! He has good design on food. Somehow he magically makes the al pastor tacos become fusion taco. Perfect display on food. Especially he picks the most fresh ingredients to make the food so perfect. Gracias Manu Z!

        Cooking class with kids!
We met Manuel at the fish market. We connected earlier on what’s app and he helped me figure out the time to leave from Vidanta the day before. At the beginning when we met we talked about preferences. This is where you come together to decide what to make. Our kids (8 & 6) loved the market. They were his helpers in carrying the produce. They loved the fresh tortillas from the tortilla factory. They were so, so good. After you get all your ingredients he drove us back to his beautiful home where he went through each step with us on preparing. It was a great time to ask him about his knives and see his whole setup. I’ve got some room for improvement at home! The kids played with Max, his dog, while we watched. Our first dish was a ceviche made with yellow belly snapper, key lime and some mandarin juice for the citrus. He also made a chili oil that was to die for to go on top. The kids crushed the small bites of fresh frijoles with cheese and tortilla chips. Lastly the final dish was a chicken Gordita. We had to err on the side of being safe because of our kids palates. Our son ate 3 or 4 of these. 😂. We caught an Uber back to Vidanta. This was a highlight of our trip and will connect with Manu to see if maybe we can do a walking and eating tour with him! He has lots of suggestions on what to do in the area. Thank you again for hosting us in your wonderful home.

        Great chef & teacher
Our chef, Manuel Zuloaga, was an excellent teacher as well as a very good chef. Starting in a small, well-stocked neighborhood market, he introduced us to a large range of local fish as well as very fresh produce. (Did you know there are 5 varieties of mangos? And the different tastes and uses?) He bought fresh shrimp and ceviche ingredients for our meal that he would teach and prepare in his home kitchen. I learned different, better methods of prepping than I had been using for years. Delicious meal, great learning, and super chef/teacher.

        Fun girls night out.
From the start Tanya was inviting, warm and personable. She invited us into her beautiful home and the kitchen was very well set up to teach. We enjoyed some great drinks while she taught her class and let us participate. The food was delicious! We had a ton of fun, laughs and enjoyed a great dinner. If you’re looking for a unique and fun night out, off the boat or away from the resorts, I’d highly recommend an evening here.

        A REAL Mexican meal!
A great immersion into the culture here in PV! A fun market experience, with Manu asking us plenty of questions so we could have a fabulous meal. An intimate visit to his home while we were the only guests! He is friendly, instructive, and a great chef! We had a wonderful time.

        Culinary Adventure in Puerto Vallarta
This was our first trip to Puerto Vallarta and we want to experience something other than the crowds of Old Town, the Malecon and tourist craft markets. We also wanted to learn a little bit about authentic Mexican cooking. We had gone a food tour a couple of days before (which was amazing!) and were now ready for the next step. Our chef, Manuel, met us at a community market about a 10 minutes taxi ride from our hotel. We visited fresh fish, vegetable and cheese open air stores, and a tortilla factory. After purchasing all the ingredients Manuel needed for our dishes he drove us and the other couple in our class to his house. During the next two hours Manuel showed us how to make ceviche and cheese enchiladas…as well ans all the sauces and accompaniments. I have to say the ceviche was one of the best dishes I have ever tasted. I highly recommend this little culinary adventure to anyone visiting PV.

Street tacos - so good and fresh!
Wow! What a great experience from the very start! Manuel took us to his go-to fresh food market where we bought freshly butchered pork and beef, fresh vegetables and dried chiles, cheese, and freshly made tortillas made with the best corn in PV, delicious hot and fresh from the tortilla press! His home is in a quaint and colorful neighborhood and his doggy Max was a hit! He showed us how to make a salsa verde, salsa roja and -- our absolute favorite -- AUTHENTIC STREET TACOS! We learned how to make carne asada and pork al pastor. Delicious, vibrant, fresh and the flavors were WOW! We can't wait to entertain family and friends with our new culinary knowledge!

        Great local cooking experience
A great experience. Manuel took us on a local market visit to pick up supplies, then we joined him for a cooking and dining experience in the setting of his own home. It was a very friendly and pleasant experience with great conversation. Add talented cooking skills on display right in front of our eyes, and it made for a memorable time, we would do it again.

        Don't Miss this Fabulous Class
This was the most enjoyable and educational cooking class I have ever taken anywhere. Manual exudes passion for his craft and is an excellent host, educator and entertainer. His instruction will forever change my cooking. And the food he served us was the best I have ever eaten in Mexico. He taught us simple techniques that make all the difference.

        Local flavors and flare
Manuel first asked what type of food we liked and customized our experience to meet our individual tastes. Our visit to the local market showcased his relationships with the business owners there. He was very knowledgeable and showed us many new ways to prepare and enjoy local flavors.

My cooking experience with Helene was fantastic. She was a wonderful host and her home was perfect for it. Sitting out by the pool and eating our creations was a true treat. We made a number of delicious dishes, drinks and a dessert. Best of all is I walked away with a handful of New Mexican cooking tips and tricks!!

I have been to Puerto Vallarta many times and must say this is the best experience I have ever had. Helene was an amazing host and cooking instructor.

The food was fun to help prepare and so delicious. We made salsa from scratch with totopos (tortilla chips made fresh); ceviche (I don't usually like seafood but this was so fresh and delicious, I loved it!), poblano rellenos (peppers stuffed with cheese); and for dessert mango mousse! Of course we also made margaritas.

Thank you Helene for an amazing experience. I loved sitting around the table getting to know you. A special thank you also to your helper, Lupe. Such a wonderful experience I will remember always.

Helene is an excellent instructor. My sister and I were looking forward to the class and it more than met our expectations.

We made a lunch with corn soup; ceviche, guacamole, chips and salsa; chile rellanos with rice and refried beans topped off by a mango mousse. All was delicious and I believe I can recreate the dishes at home. Oh, I almost forgot the margaritas!

My wife and I spent a wonderful afternoon with Helene at her hacienda in Puerto Vallarta. We picked up quite a few cooking tips and the food was absolutely delicious. To start, Helene brought out the fresh tortillas she had bought locally and what a difference these made to the chips and simple salsa we made. Then it was on to making ceviche towers. Shrimp and chunks of fish were stacked on a base made of perfect local avocados, and it was all topped off with slices of home-grown mangoes. So fresh tasting! Corn soup was smooth, smooth, smooth, and tasty. And, needless to say, the Chile Relleno's, made with a good local cheese really hit the spot. For me, the highlight was a truly spectacular mango mousse for dessert. Then we lingered for a couple more hours, enjoying coffee, conversation and the pleasant hacienda. We recommend highly!
