Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- peterfS8604AU0 contributionsZihua! Just go!Wish I'd been here before! Zihua is a fabulous destination packed with every vacation option and surrounded by natural beauty. Warm sun, sandy beaches, friendly people and great food! Having a guide to drive us around (found here), is a great idea. When we return, we will hire our guide/driver again. He really took care of us and is super nice.Written 9 December 2024
- kiank4870 contributionsAmazing Waterfalls TourI did the waterfall tour and wow, what a special experience. Not only are the falls and mountains beautiful, you get to explore and eat a delicious, traditional meal on a local farm. Highly recommend!Written 6 December 2024
- Mobile585671626660 contributionsTrip to the Petatlan RuinsI did the Petatlan ruins tour. Our tour guide was very friendly and the destination was beautiful and impressive. We went to a museum first to learn about the history of the area and ruins. The museum representative only spoke Spanish and our tour guide spoke broken English so it was a little challenging to understand all the information we were given. It helped that I understand some Spanish. The best part of the tour was actually seeing the ruins which included the game court and the pyramid and temples. We also went to the little town nearby and visited the old adobe church with the stone carving of the King, Chole in front. After the tour we stopped at a nice open air restaurant for delicious food. Overall, it was a very nice experience and I'm very glad I did it and would recommend it.Written 24 November 2024
- Stacy F0 contributionsBeautiful Waterfalls and Local ExperienceVery unique tour! Visited the local family that owns the land where the waterfalls are located. They made us a traditional Mexican meal, then we visited the waterfalls and spent quite a bit of time in the water. A very unrushed and relaxing dayWritten 24 November 2024
- kiank4870 contributionsThank You!!I went on two tours with Ketavi and they were both great! The staff are so friendly and have fantastic knowledge of the area. I especially liked the fishing tour, where a restaurant prepares your catches for you afterwards :)Written 21 November 2024
- Ian32060 contributionsEducational and heart warmingEnjoyed the educational talk about the various breeds of turtles and, unfortunately, the risks that they have today which are mostly man made. It was heartwarming to release some onto the beach and watch them make their way into the ocean, knowing only a small few will reach adulthood. The sanctuary rely on your donations to continue their good work in trying to preserve the turtles.Written 18 November 2024
- Barbara L0 contributionsUlises at Ketavi Tours provided us with customized, excellent transportation services inTroncones/Zihuatanejo.Ulises is fluent in English. He is reliable, trustworthy, friendly and helpful. We hired him to pick us up at Ixtapa Airport and drive us to Troncones, Punta Majahua. He assisted us with our luggage and ensured we were settled in our condo rental. We highly recommend his services. We would hire him again.Written 18 November 2024
- Elizabeth75110 contributionsAmazing experienceWhat an amazing experience. We were picked up from our hotel and taken to the Sanctuary. The whole experience was amazing. We were so lucky to be the only 2 people there so released turtles and learnt alot too. They do amazing work which relies on volunteers. Such a worthy cause.Written 14 November 2024
- P7961YOtime0 contributionsA great experience, highly recommend!Fabian and Uber did a great job of making us feel comfortable and safe for the entire time. We learned so much about the area on the way there and back, and we stopped at a barista for a freshly ground cup of coffee. The archaeological site was much more interesting than expected, with a great story of the families who live there and have unearthed the treasures on display. They took us to a fondita for a super tasty lunch that was included in the tour. I would highly recommend these gentlemen for such a comfortable and entertaining excursion. There was no language barrier, and I got to practice my Spanish with plenty of translation help. All in all a great experience.Written 7 November 2024
- Sunshine1857820 contributionsWonderful Turtle ReleaseVery educational and Emotional to know these wonderful creatures will probably be extinct within the next 50 yrs or so, despite the efforts of organizations like this. Glad to be able to be part of the efforts to save them.Written 7 November 2024
- Katharina J0 contributionsAmazing snorkeling and food too!! A must do!Ulysses was our guide and he is amazing! Showed us the whole town and made everything easy and so much fun! The Ixtapa island snorkeling tour is absolutely amazing and fish EVERYWHERE! There are also restaurant beach bars to relax at and eat and drink before or after and this is a must do if in Zihuatanejo or Ixtapa!! 10 out of 10!!!Written 5 October 2024
- Katharina J0 contributionsMust do this!❤️We had an amazing time! Everyone was so nice and helpful! Horses were super well trained and behaved! A must do here with a Beautiful Long Beach ride!!Written 5 October 2024
- Darren D0 contributionsBaby turtles and great guides, unforgettable! This was such an amazing trip, Ulysses and Uber were incredibly friendly and super knowledgeable of the area. Once we got to the turtle beach we took a 4 wheeler to the turtles, got an amazing presentation on the different turtles and frequencies of their visit to the beach. Afterwords my wife and I got to see and release about a hundred turtles to the water. They were so eager to find the waters edge, absolutely amazing!!! On the way back Ulysses took us to an amazing taco stand where we tried Goat Tacos. Absolutely delicious. Thank you guys for the once in a lifetime excursion, we’ll never forget it.Written 7 August 2024
- L5244OTjohnw0 contributionsBaby turtles!!!!We used Ketavi for some fun general rides around town and more fun… to see and release baby turtles at a sea turtle sanctuary! Our guides were friendly and attentive, ensuring our comfort and helping educate us on the history of the turtle sanctuary. The turtle experience was truly unique and a must-experience. We helped release turtles into the ocean and watched them swim off - something I’ve never seen before!Written 3 August 2024
- OnAir548765824020 contributionsTurtle release by coconut groveOverall it was a great experience. They picked us at our hotel, drove us to the destination, which was pretty remote, it depends how many turtles they have to release at each location. We stopped along the way to buy snacks in the little towns. It was a remote beach by a coconut Grove. My daughter and I loved the turtle release experience, something we won't forget and hope we can come back again! Our tour guides Uber, Christopher and Luis Gabriel were so nice!Written 30 July 2024

We so enjoyed our tour with Ulises, KETAVI Tourist Excursions, to the Monarch Butterflies! Traveling from Zihuatenejo, this trip offered an experience of Mexico from the tropical environment on the coast to the temperate upland colonial towns to the high-elevation forests. We now feel like we have a more complete and diverse view of Mexico. I liked the combination of structured stops and activities with free time to explore on our own. Ulises was particularly helpful to me, since I sat in the front passenger seat of the van for a period while traveling. At my request, he coached me on Spanish phrases and vocabulary, so helpful to learning and practicing the language! His driving was impeccable and we always felt safe, taken care of, and had a clear understanding of the schedule and what was ahead. Highly recommended!

We just returned from our fantastic tour with Ulises. I highly recommend him if you are thinking of this trip or any other in his catalogue. Our days were full with checking out beautiful historic towns and locally made handicrafts. Uli was flexible with choices of what to do at our stops, and how long to take. Driving through the countryside was beautiful, and we appreciated Ulises’s expert driving skills. I’m happy I chose to do this trip with KETAVI tours.

Ulises provides a unique experience due in part to his personal background. He has extensive knowledge of the culture of Mexico and utilizes this. to provide information and activities that make the tour truly fantastic. He has a passion for providing clients with insights into authentic and historic Mexican culture by utilizing personal connections with indigenous people and artisans.
This tour visited Santa Clara del Cobre where we toured a small copper factory and watched artisans individually handcraft beautiful copper items. The Butterfly Sanctuary in El Rosario was truly amazing! Thousands of Monarch butterflies everywhere, clustered on branches, flying around you. The magnitude was so great that when you stopped and listened, you could actually hear the butterflies' wings beats.
Ketavi tours was recommended to us by several friends and we were amazed and thrilled with our tour.

The staff was courteous, and in particular, the driver did an excellent job navigating the highways. The copper factory was a small shop at the back of a family home. They sold various crafts at the end of the demonstration but we were not given time to explore the town or visit the many copper stores that displayed finer merchandise. The hotel was adequate with a good breakfast but the rooms included in the tour did not have windows to the outside. Fortunately it was just a place to sleep. Morelia is a beautiful city but too little time was devoted to it. The van we travelled in was too cramped for such a long journey. Check the weather before travelling as you might not see any monarchs if the weather is cold and-or overcast.

Thinking of going to see the Monarch Butterfly Sanctuary near Morelia?
Tour versus organizing yourself? Well let me tell you, the tour was well worth the price!
Ulysis of Ketavi Tours made it worth every cent!
He was most accomadating! Stopped when we asked, whether to see some roadside stand, buy a ceramic pot, buy an Olla coffee, use the WC or stretch our legs. He explained the sights, the local crops, the history and more!
Our hotel was clean and within walking distance of what you will want to see! And included a typical Mexican BReakfast!
He escorted us to our first evening out and suggested places to go and see.
Ulysis driving was comfortable and safe.
This Monarch Butterfly tour is well worth every penny! I loved every minute of it!
Thank you Ulysis!

Our trip to Morelia with Ketavi tours, Ulysses, Fabien, and George was perfect. The days are long but worth it.
We stayed 2 nights in Morelia, went to the butterfly sanctuary, had lunch at some wonderful places, made stops in Patzcuaro where we shopped and Santa Clara. In Santa Clara we stopped at a family run, 5th generation copper crafting home. We saw how copper cups and other items are made then shopped their wares right then and there. Fantastic experience.
I would definitely use Ketavi Tours again.
Thank you Ulysses!

The tour to see the butterflies far exceeded my expectations. Ulises and Jennifer were wonderful guides. We were able to visit a coppersmith artisan at work at his home, go to restaurants off the beaten path, and see the markets and beautiful sites in Morelia and Patzcuaro in addition to the wonders of the monarch reserve. I look forward to coming back and repeating this same tour someday.

We had a wonderful trip to see the Monarch butterflies. Ulisses is a great tour guide and told us lots of interesting information and showed us great things during the trip On the way there we stopped in the town of Patzuaro and was so impressed with the old Spanish architecture and town. We then went to Santa Clara del Cobre(Copper town) and visited a family (grandfather, son, and grandson)business of creating wonderful things out of copper. I bought several things for Christmas gifts. We then went to Morelia and what a beautiful city. The basilica is gorgeous and the market and candy market were fun. At last we went to the Monarch butterflies and it did not disappoint. I took a horse up the mountain and it was fun and lots of nice scenery. Once at the top we needed to walk/climb up to the butterflies. One of the tour guides Fabian stayed with me and assisted me up the climb. He was so helpful and caring and such an asset to the tour. His english is excellent! All in All it was a great trip. I highly recommend!

Not a lot of butterflies it was a quick visit and you must rent a horse both ways if you decide to walk be prepared to pay the price because the high altitude will be a killer
