This is my third trip to Guadalajara and each time I’ve hired Diego to provide me with amazing experiences, insights and tastes of this amazing part of Mexico. Our recent day trip to Ajijic & Chapala was another 5-star experience. We appreciated the pickup at our AirBNB, the authentic birria tacos breakfast stop, the cultural aspects of these towns and of course the history and beauty of the lake. Diego always maintains the perfect pace and keeps us engaged with his knowledge and great energy!

I thoroughly enjoy the tour with Diego, not only he showed his great knowledge, insights and professionalism, but also his passion towards his hometown. We had great conversation throughout the tour with topic varies from the Mexican politics, social issues and local cultures. Diego’s flexible on handling the tour, for instance, the Bernabe Workshop was not open on that day, Diego was quick to suggest alternate activities or attractions to open my eyes and deepen my understanding towards the local communities and neighborhoods. In addition, Diego’s recommendations on the food places were legit. The street foods and local shops suggested by Diego provide the warm, fresh and reasonable-priced foods which you won’t find in tourist-trap areas. Last but not least, we took the metro to go back to the centro area where Diego accompanied me to Hospicio Cabañas even though it’s not part of the tour package. In conclusion, if you ever happen to be in Guadalajara, choose Diego and you won’t regret it. P/S: Diego is also a good photographer who helps travelers to take tons of great photos.

I had two full-day tours with Diego, one for Guadalajara/Tlaquepaque and one to Tequila/Guachimontones. Diego’s tour caught my attention because he actually studied tourism and seemed to have a genuine desire to help bolster his hometown’s image in the tourism world. Diego exceeded my high expectations by offering more than just history lessons and translation. He effortlessly tailored the tour’s pacing, food choices and timing, as well as the topics we discuss to my personal preference. I felt comfortable during the entire tour. Being a world traveler himself, Diego is well-versed in international cuisine and very fluent in English. Diego’s restaurant recommendation (Rio Viego in Andares) and food choices were on point. I tried deep fried tripe tacos and tejunio for the first time during our tour. Carnitas would not be my first choice for tacos in the U.S., but Diego opened my eyes (taste buds?) to different cuts of carnitas. Jowl and loin carnitas in Mexico is so much more flavorful than what I’ve ever had. Who knew you could pick and choose the part of pig you want to eat from? I learned so much about the tequila-making process and the supply chain during our private distillery tour. We even snuck a couple pieces of agave behind-the-scenes! I highly recommend a tour with Diego. You are sure to learn a ton!

Loved this trip. Area was both quaint and modern. Diego was a caring and knowledgeable host. His expertise in the history and current day politics of the area enhanced our experience. The balance of escorted tour and free time made far a most enjoyable day.

This was an unforgettable tour with an incredibly knowledgeable guide. We started our day at the local market for some delicious birria breakfast, went to a museum, bought tickets to see an orchestral performance at the theatre, and then toured and learned about the city and it's people. I wanted to see a library and we made a stop there just for me! We got to see the city's beautiful churches and eat yummy pastries. My boyfriend wanted to know about some of the artisanal local beers, and we ended the tour there.

Diego was a great and knowledgeable guide. He new all the local history and just about every building. Took us to some spots we'd never would have found on our own. He took us to breakfast and to get some bread at local spots that were amazing. Highly recommend this tour.

This is an amazing bilingual experience, you get to experience the authentic side of Guadalajara cuisine and culture. Diego did amazing job allowing us to really experience Guadalajara.

Diego shared some fantastic places to eat authentic Mexican food. I loved tacos at Felippes for breakfast and unbelievable ceviche at another stall in Mercado Libertad. The highlight was lunch of traditional Birria in a beautiful old hacienda El Pilón de Los Arrieros. It was so good we went back for dinner the next night!! Thank you for sharing your extensive knowledge on historical sites we visited along the way.

Diego was very knowledgeable, offered multiple recommendations based on what we were asking for, and answered a bunch of questions we had about anything and everything, not just food. For the tour you will be going to a local market (very authentic Mexican), as well as a nice restaurant after a walk. Food was delicious, and the tour filled with interesting information about Guadalajara. It's a private tour, so make sure to ask for recommendations. Diego was very generous and everything he recommended was fantastic.

My husband and I had a wonderful time with Diego. He was so knowledgeable about the city and its history that it truly amazed us. Diego was also very accommodating to our needs and we thoroughly enjoyed our tour and visit to Guadalajara.

Diego was awesome and extremely knowledgeable about the historic sites we visited. He was extremely accommodating and at no time, did we feel pressured to move at a faster pace. During the time we were there. an issue with international cell service caused us to be "disconnected" outside of hotel WiFi. He helped us find a place to remedy the issue, so we had cell service during the rest of our stay. Diego is also excellent in keeping in touch with you. We chose to do this tour as a couple and that was one of the best decisions we have made compared to other tours elsewhere we have taken in the past. It is well worth the extra charge. His tour was the most memorable time of our stay in Guadalajara. We would highly suggest this tour and do it EARLY in your stay. He has great recommendations for places to see and eat. That way, you can take advantage of those to plan the rest of your stay. Had we more time, we would not have hesitated to take another of his tours to Chapala or a tequila experience. Excellent tour! Diego grew up in the area and has a great understanding of how history, culture and food all connect. The food in the market was delicious and Diego also provided a locals perspective on Guadalajara history as you walk to the final food spot. I really enjoyed both the food and Diego's company. Highly recommend.

Diego provided a perfect tour of food in the market. It could be easy to get overwhelmed, but he knew exactly where to go to get the best “barbacoa”, “tortas ahogadas”, and the finale “birria” in a picturesque plaza we would never have explored, if not for Diego. Diego grew up in Guadalajara and has personal connection to this city. Highly recommend his tour.

Diego led me around Centro and Tlaquepaque finding a great tour and history lesson. We walked at my pace as he pointed out the must see buildings, statues, and artwork. I really enjoyed the casual, not rushed tour of these areas. I can whole heartedly recommend this tour as a fantastic way the spend time in Guadalajara.

After reading reviews about this excursion, we decided to book this with Diego Hannon and we could not have been more pleased. He knows so much about the people and customs of this area He was very attentive to our needs and we enjoyed spending the day with him. We had a great lunch and saw so many local artisans which is what we like to do in new places. If you are in Guadalajara you must do this. You will not regret it.
