About the operator
Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- Dreamer4025480 contributionsWell worth the price!First, Pedro is not just a "Tequila Master" but has a master's degree in Tequila production, so there was no question too obscure or detail too small that Pedro couldn't answer. I'm not a Tequila drinker, but I found a new favorite spirit at the Cava de Oro distillery (the Extra Anejo is like a smooth smokey whiskey). Cutting the Blue Agave and learning everything about Tequila making was fascinating, and strolling around the town of Tequila was a blast. It's not the least expensive tour for sure, but an entire day with the amazing Pedro guiding us from an amazing local breakfast to tasting more tequila than I ever thought possible to watching the bartenders at Cantaritos El Guero do their thing at sunset, it was worth every penny!Written 23 January 2025
- michael f0 contributionsBest tequila tourThe best tour for tequila fans, very informative and friendly tour guide/tequila master , Mariana. Highly recommendedWritten 20 January 2025

Our tour guide Andie was so knowledgable of the entire tequila process and was such a joy to be around.... We got to see three different distilleries learn and taste some great tequilaWritten 30 December 2024
- DayTrip025554207710 contributionsMust Experience!Spectacular experience that we will never forget. Our Tequila Master picked us up at our Airbnb at 9 am sharp. At the start of the drive from Guadalajara, we dove into many details regarding the tequila-making process. This information would only be available from someone with years of experience or educational background in tequila making process. Our master had both. Down to the finer details of flavor profiling to the history of Jimadores, our trip was nothing short of a wealth of information. Our first stop was just outside Tequila for a delicious breakfast. Handmade tortillas and freshly squeezed juice. Of course ready by the time we got there. We departed to our first location, which was not far from there. The distillery was boutique and personable. We sat in a beautiful tasting room and tried a variety of tequilas. The master distiller walked through the process of properly drinking tequila and identifying its qualities. Such a pleasant experience. As we moved on, we made it to a larger distillery not far from our location. We were met by more tasting and some really unique opportunities to drink tequila out of a barrel as well as try some cooked agave. Closed out by a wondering pairing of tequila from Cava de Oro. As we closed the day out, we made a final stop to downtown Tequila where we had a wonderful dinner. Our tequila master was accommodating and receptive to our requests. He was helpful throughout the process and I felt like a professional when I left. I plan on booking this tour again with friends and more family! Its a must!Written 21 November 2024

Our guide, Andie went above and beyond to assure our experience was first class, making us feel like family every step of the way. Her knowledge, and ability to explain the entire tequila making process took the tour to a whole different level. Like the tour itself, Andie is amazing. Before making a decision on which tequila tour to select, we researched every tour available, and due in part to the many positive reviews, we kept returning to The Agave Experience. Safe to say, The Agave Experience delivered. Thank you to our Tequila Master guide, Andie and to The Agave Experience for making our travel to Guadalajara, Mexico a complete success! - K686YSloganw0 contributionsAmazing tequila tour and experience! This was a wonderful tour and Pedro did a great job showing us the different production processes at two distilleries. He did a great job answering any questions we may have had and also taught us how to appreciate tequila spirits. This tour was valuable because we got to go to relatively small distilleries and see the production process whereas other tours are more commercialized. I would go on this tour again in a heartbeat!Written 5 September 2024
- Vacationer6585780 contributionsCouldn't ask for a better Tequila tourThis is our second Tequila tour with The Agave Experience. Both Giancarlo and Andie were excellent tour guides. We liked going to smaller, artesanal distilleries rather than the mega producers. We definitely plan to use Agave Experience again.Written 5 September 2024

I highly recommend this company headed by Giancarlo.Written 4 September 2024

Our tour guide Mariana was the best. The information that she shared with us didn't feel as if she was reading verbatim from a manual. She is a natural and gets so involved making the tour so much fun and worth the money spent. Thank you, Mariana, for understanding that the weather and restaurant put the tour behind and letting us all enjoy our time at Cantaritos el guero. The range of tequilas were well selected and explained. It was a great day out and would recommend it to anyone. It was a long day so make sure to drink lots of water and fill up at the included breakfast - which was also delicious!Written 14 August 2024

This past November we had the unique opportunity to join Giancarlo on a Private tequila tasting. We enjoy high-end tequila and had always wanted to go and experience the best that Jalisco has to offer. The tour included an authentic breakfast and lunch at a beautiful restaurant was outside with live music. The tastings were amazing filled with great knowledge from Giancarlo who is passionate about his love for tequila and craft. We even got to meet the Master Distiller at one of the the most well known distilleries in Jalisco. We needed our day near sunset looking over a field of agave and mountains in the distance, a breathtaking view that made it the perfect place to propose to my longtime girlfriend. If you are looking for a one of a kind experience, look no further than the Agave Experience.

Giancarlo was not only a great guide for our day in Jalisco touring the agave fields and production facilities but he also took time to help us navigate all of our questions about the city of Guadalajara and the surrounding areas for our trip. He also answered all my questions before we arrived and I can't say enough about what a great experience this was. Outstanding in every way - a must for any tequila drinker or visitor to Jalisco.

If you have an extra day in Guadalajara, there's no better way to spend it than with a personal tour with the Agave Experience. My wife Molly and I were part of a six person tour hosted by Jessy, one of 72 people in the world to hold a Master's degree in tequila.
She picked us up at our hotel and thoroughly schooled us on the history and cultural significance of tequila during the hour drive out of Guadalajara. Our first stop was at a delightful roadside café with an excellent breakfast. My only regret was eating breakfast before she picked us up - something I won't do the next time!
Then we were off to Cava de Oro, a distillery near the town of tequila. We learned about how tequila is processed and what differentiates the various classes of tequila (anejo, reposada, etc.). After seeing the workers process the agave and touring the caverns holding barrels of tequila we arrived at our underground tasting area. Jessy tested our smelling and tasting acumen and explained nuances of each. I didn't do well until told what smells and tastes to look for but quickly came to appreciate the delightful characteristics of the various tequilas we tasted.
Jessy also introduced different flavors - grapefruit, chocolate and others - which enhanced the flavors of the various tequilas. Our visit at Cava de Oro ended with a visit to their store which featured the tequila at significantly less expensive price points than in California (the only state that sells the limited production of Cava de Oro tequilas). Plan on spending about $60 bucks for a bottle that would be twice that in the states.
From Cava de Oro we went to a lovely spot overlooking fields of agave where we enjoyed a drink of tequila and fruit juices. Que bueno!
Our final stop was a visit to the town of Tequila where we had a wonderful dinner (the Agave Experience covers the costs for all of the food and drinks) and were fortunate enough to experience a festival in the town's zocalo / main square. Indigenous people in colorful clothing recreated the fascinating tradition of twirling from a high tower as native music permeated the festivities. There were mariachis and the locals were happy to see us and very friendly and accommodating.
We ended our day dropped off at our Guadalajara hotel with three bottles of tequila from Cava de Oro (you are allowed to bring five bottles back to the US) and the confidence to know how to appreciate tequila.
I never thought tequila was as sophisticated as Scotch, Bourbon or wine but I know now!
I highly recommend a day tour with the Agave Experience. If you're fortunate enough to get Jessy as your guide you will be well served with a knowledgeable guide who is extremely fluent in English. Perhaps all of the AE guides are of the same caliber.
Salud!

The experience with TAE was top notch since the start. Promptly after booking they got in touch to explore my interests and provided an excellent itinerary that hit everything I wanted to see. This was my first trip to the region and I can’t think of a better introduction with a more knowledgeable host! Highly recommend and look forward to coming back! Horse back riding at sunset in agave fields next!

We took the private tour. Andrea, our guide, was friendly and very knowledgeable. She answered all our questions regarding history, production processes and different types of tequila. She took us to a couple of small distilleries although we spent more time in the first in which we had a long tasting experience. After, she took us to a location for cantaritos and small snacks with a great view of the agave fields in Amatitan, ending with a traditional lunch at Tequila town. As a special thing, we stopped in an agave field to contemplate the sunset and Andrea was very kind to take photos of us.

If you are looking for a private tour to Tequila and want to get to know the origin and culture behind this famous liquor, then don't look any further - this is for you. Despite the excellent service with pickup and return to our address, Giancarlo (our guide) really is an expert in everything relating the production and history of Tequila.
The tour included the best tacos we ever had (the place was in a small village close to Tequila, a place you'd never find or go to unless a local takes you there), two Tequila tastings at two different family-owned smaller Tequila distilleries, who still produce Tequila the way it has always been done, a delicious lunch in the beautiful backyard of a 19th century mansion, and finished with the visit to a famous cantarito.

10/10 experience. Highly recommend! My wife and I booked a private tour and were fortunate enough to have Andrea as our guide. It was like spending the day with a friend you've known for a long time. We learned so much about the process of making tequila and it has already made an impact on how we select and experience tequila now that we are back home. When we return we will probably re-book this tour, it was that good.

Andy was an absolute wealth of knowledge and we had the most incredible time learning about agave spirits and Jalisco in general!
We did a private tour due to our trip schedule but I am sure any experience would be great. This was an absolute highlight of our trip unlike any other tour you may have experienced.
The entire company is passionate about what they do and that is clear throughout the tour.
We toured distilleries, learned about historic and modern production, of course did tastings and got to eat delicious local food along the way.
Cannot recommend this enough!! Thanks so much Andy and Juan Carlos

Hola. Tel 8992847168. Te agradecería mucho tu respuesta.
