About the operator
Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- Pooja_10020 contributionsBAMBA, completely rip-off! Please do not use them until you want to pay huge premiumWorst company!!! I have been travelling since 15 years and have been to more than 75 countries now but never came across a company like Bamba, who are total rip-off! We booked the self guided central americ tour with them wherein they arranged our transports and tours which costed us almost 40% extra for what we have paid if we would have arranged this by ourselves. I do expect to pay may ne 15 or 20% extra for the booking they do for us but 40%, complete rip off! On the top of that, they create a tour itinerary which doesn't even mention the grade of the tour (in terms of how tough it is, for example a hiking tour) and when we asked to cancel it, they said not possible and they need a notice of 72 hours! We saw tourists here booking and canceling 30 mins in advance without any issues, however an established company like bamba who is taking huge premium can't help us with this! Completely shambles! Never use them!!!Written 1 April 2023
- LisaF48070 contributionsBamba - do not bookBamba - I booked a trip through this company to Japan. and it was nothing but a frustrating experience and a complete rip off. I specifically paid extra and booked the trip to be in 3 star hotels and they set me up with all dorm/hostel rooms. I had to wait a very long time for booking confirmation (but they were quick to take my money) and I had to make requests about giving me my itinerary, which only came just before I had to depart. They then changed the itinerary after i was already in Japan with NO proper notification, which meant that ALL accommodation was different, tours no longer existed, meeting point for transport was completely different, they lied about there being airport transfer. they did not adequately explain the use of train tickets, despite being queried about itWritten 6 February 2023
- Solotravellil0 contributionsAn amazing Birthday Trip!!!Had an amazing well organized trips to Oaxaca City, San Jose Del Pacifico, and Puerto Escondido. I had the opportunity to have an amazing opportunity to experience a variety of activities including a gastronomic tour, mezcal workshop and plenty of tastings, nature walks, cultural immersion, surfing and experiencing the many beaches of Puerto Escondido. Highly recommend!!!!Written 5 July 2021
- lanabester0 contributionsBamba Hop On Hop Off Pass: Satay WaysBamba are very professional and helpful company. Made things very easy for us, especially with the 2 border crossings we encountered. Sometimes there was a mis-communication issue and we ended up missing an experience because of this but Bamba was hot on it and offered us another tour in place of the one we missed out on. I loved our bus pass and although they obviously charge at a profit, I think it's worth it as there is no hassle or stress - which as a traveller with anxiety disorder, I found this perfect! All staff and tour operators were friendly :) I can't wait to book my next trip with you. Please do one in Japan/South Korea? Thank you Bamba!!!Written 26 May 2020
- Kate987000 contributionsDONT EVER USE BAMBAUsed BAMBA for a trip package of transfers and various day trips. pre- booked in advance before travelling for a total of c$260. Upon arriving in South America we found the exact same transfers costing a total of $115. ABSOLUTELY TAKING THE MICK!!!!! To make matters worse because of the current pandemic, we didnt get our services and now they are offering us a refund based on the cost price of these activites at the lower rate rather than the rate we paid to the company. totally unacceptable. Finally even if you could look past this huge margin they are taking off you our experience wasn’t good either, we sat there waiting for a tour guide who didn’t show up one day so we wasted a day and had to reschedule, the app didn’t update and the tour guide dropped us off too late at an attraction at the end of the day to get in. I urge everyone reading this to reconsider ever using BAMBA.Written 2 April 2020

They have been kind and supportive with excellent communication and follow up at every stage. I have thoroughly enjoyed my travels and it has been made even more fun and easier having the team at Bamba to support me along the way. - 936lucienb0 contributionsDon’t book anything with bamba!!Our 4 months of traveling with Bamba We travelled through Colombia, Ecuador, Peru, Bolivia, Chile and Argentina. Because we didn’t want to spend too much time with planning and organizing during our journey, we decided to buy standard travel passes for our journey, provided by Bamba. Everything started good in Colombia. They booked our buses and activities as we wished and replied very friendly. Unfortunately that’s the only positive thing we can say about this company. After those 4 months we can say, that it has cost us much more effort and MONEY dealing with the guys from Bamba than organizing everything by ourselves. Some examples. Sometimes we had to wait a huge amount of time just to get an answer from them... if they even answered. If not, we had to ask for an answer, and that happened a several timhes during those 4 month. We also wanted to plan some activities by ourselves, besides or additionally to those travel passes we bought from Bamba, but because of that extremely long waiting time for their answers and conformations, it was almost impossible for us to do so, so we had to let go of many activities and trips that we actually wanted to do. What worse could happen to travelers who want to explore the world. They promise you endless flexibility, but what we experienced was exactly the opposite. We also had the feeling that they booked the worst connections and seats for us on purpose, maybe they tried to save money for themselves by doing so. Once we were in Santiago, exactly when the violent protests startet there. We asked them to book a bus for us to the next city in Chile. They really had the gull to book a bus that left Santiago during the night which meant we should go to city center where all the crime happened during the night. Furthermore, there were curfews taking place every night at that time, so leaving the hotel wasn’t a really good advise, unless you wanted to be taken to prison by the army. But Bamba told us that it was impossible to find another bus. We didn’t accept that, so we looked up for a bus by OURSELVES and see there... we immediately found many buses leaving Santiago during the day. Some Emails later, they didn’t see that they made a mistake but at least booked a bus for us that left Santiago during the day. They lied to us several times. A further example... We booked the WTrek in Torres del Paine for mid December. As we travelled faster than we originally planned, we asked them to change the booking to mid November. They immediately told us, that there are no more spaces left. So we tricked them. We tried to book the same activity as new clients on the dates we wished aaaand of course there were spaces left. As we confronted them with this situation, they accepted the change of the dates. Unfortunately for us they had to downgrade us from a guided trek sleeping in Refugio’s to a self guided trek sleeping in tents. It was ok for us as we had no other option. They didn’t offer a refund by themselves. We didn’t expect anything else from this company, so we asked for it. We looked it up and the refund should’ve been around 900USD. All we got was 500USD. All in all we can only recommend anyone to not book anything with Bamba. The list of their mistakes is much much longer but i think this review sums it up pretty well. If you don’t want to spend a huge amount of money for a crappy service just don’t book with Bamba. Book it by yourself or every other travel agency. It would make us very happy if no one else would make the mistake as we did. Thanks for ruining parts of our journey Bamba.. YOU SUCK!!Written 29 November 2019

Bamba were extremely efficient and helpful at all hours of the day and made me feel supported and guided along the way. - timontraveler0 contributionsMOUNT BROMO & CRATER LAKE ADVENTURE 3D/2NWe’ve had an amazing experience climbing these mountains with Bamba! Although the blue fires were a bit weak in Ijen, the sunrises from the mountains and spectacular views were worth the early alarms and the lack of sleep. Definitely one of the greatest memories and pictures of our holiday, thanks the our guide who constantly took us to the right spots to see it in the best way possible!Written 14 August 2019
- Demtapo16030 contributionsInca TrailEaster 2019 I had several trips organized by Bamba I Peru. My contact person, Chris Shier, did an excellent job organizing all the different tours. He was very helpful before I arrived and under my stay in Peru with all my different questions. My main trip was a four-day long hike along the Inca trail. The guide, Francisco Javier, did an excellent job. He had knowledge about the history of Peru and especially about the Inca trail itself. He was also very good at telling about the archeological sites as well as the different eco systems along the trail. His English was excellent. We had an accident on the second day which he handled perfectly taking care of the unfortunate in the very best way. The group was lucky to get a stand in, Henrry Chahua Pinedo, who took care of us in an outstanding manner.Written 12 August 2019
- NicholasJ11650 contributionsArgentina, Bolivia and Chile Tour including UyuniAvoid using this company. They are extremely disorganized and will ruin your holiday through their incompetence. They happily take your money and then outsource bookings to other cheap tour agents that do not follow through with bookings. Customer service is not great either, bizarrely they reply to help requests with smiley faces. Having used many other tour companies prior to bamba, our advice is to skip them and go with someone better. You don't get second opportunities with your holidays.Written 21 July 2019
- SlyHarbison0 contributionsHop on Hop off Peru!My friends and I just completed the Magical Peru Ways and it was fantastic. Their customer service as outstanding, and helped us throughout our trip. A quick email and they would reply immediately to provide us with assistance. It´s so much easier traveling with this kind of support and we felt much better, knowing that they were just an email away. Thanks everyone at Bamba for a memorable experience!Written 27 June 2019

A few days before I found out that they don't pick up at AirBnbs. They did find a hotel close by that they could pick up from. I don't understand what 1/4 mile makes. However walking in the dark at 4:00 am in the morning is not ideal.
That said, the Balloon ride was terrific. Great weather and pilot made it to the pyramids and held position well and also directed balloon the entire 8K area.
Other balloons from other companies did not come close, and landed in some not great areas.
Champagne (fizzy wine) landing, and back to have a good breakfast.
They will then take you to the gate of the complex for 3 hours to view. Pay your own entry.
I would suggest rather get a guide for 780 pesos which includes well guided tour with entrance fees to pyramids, caves, and community area. There is no way you could do this yourself in 3 hours without a quide and get an terrific experience

The tour is great from start to finish. You get picked up early from your hotel to avoid traffic. It is cold in the morning so wrap up. I wore several layers, took a hat and a scarf just incase. As soon as you arrive, you are welcomed with coffee, biscuits and fruit as you register. Once registered you will be called to form a group. The staff for the balloon ride are lovely, they help you on and make you feel so welcome. I was nervous as I'm not the best with heights and the pilot kept checking in on me. The views are phenomenal and you get to see it from all angles as the balloon is moved around. Once back down, you get a nice glass of bubbly. Then, it was breakfast time. What a spread! Tradition Mexican food and lots of it. Whilst you are tucking into it, a mariachi band will be there to entertain you and give you a few shots of tequila. I opted for the balloon ride and visit to the ruins. Before going to the ruins. You learn about the diffferent minerals and resources found naturally in Mexico, which is so informative and interesying. Once at the ruins, you need to pay an additional amount for a guided tour (580 pesos), but it is SO worth it. The tour guide we had was so knowledgeable and was happy to answer any questions we had. I had a brilliant day and was very impressed with this tour company. Thank you!

This was a fantastic experience. We sailed above the pyramids. It was my first time in a hot air balloon, and I was completely comfortable. After the hot air balloon, we had breakfast and were treated to a Mariachi show. The gentlemen was very entertaining. After breakfast, we toured the pyramids, which were beautiful, and our tour guide gave us a detailed historical account. I highly recommend this trip.
Here are a few things you should know:
They will pick you up from your hotel. The people in your van may not be the people you will take the tour with.
Bring some form of personal identification.
The check-in process was confusing for me, but it all made sense. They are well organized. Just go with the flow. GO WITH THE FLOW!!
Bring two types of clothes: cold in the morning but hot in the afternoon.
I would bring sunscreen, sunglasses, and bug spray.
Sign up for the tour guide because after the balloon ride; you are left on your own for 4 hours. Having a tour guide passes the time. The tour guide cost ~ 600 Pesos.
They do not provide narration when in the hot air balloon. You will get that if you sign up for the tour guide.
They will bring you back to your hotel.

The trip was fabulous, and very well organized. The balloon ride and the guided tour of the historical site were both excellent. From the pick up point in Mexico City, to the breakfast, to the guided tour of the archeological site, through to the return to Mexico City, everything worked like clockwork.

The description didn’t match the experience. This tour is the exact same as the cheapest one that had 16 people in a basket! Don’t spend your money on this more expensive option. Either choose the cheaper one or pay $300 for a smaller group

I can honestly say that it exceeded my expectations. I was kind of nervous the night before thinking if I made the right choice☺️, and definitely I did!! The service, the people, the expertise of the pilot made me feel secure and comfortable since the beginning. At the time was perfect, because we were flying at 6:30 am, right to see the sunrise. The pictures I took were amazing.
Transportation was right on time, they picked me up at 5:20am. After the ballon ride I knew we had a buffet breakfast and it was so good😋!!!!!! They had conventional breakfast and regional breakfast to choose from! That was great! And they surprised us with Mariachis 🎼
After this amazing experience I went with them to the pyramid and it was also very well organized. It is a very complete tour and I am so pleased with it that I would recommend it a million times!

My wife and I had a very enjoyable morning in the hot air balloon. Everything was as-advertised. Good communication, prompt pick up from our hotel, clean van ride to / from the ruins, and what seemed like a well-run operation. Seeming experienced hot air balloon captain & crew. We felt safe the entire time, and was a great way to see the ruins in advance of visiting them on foot.

Great experience! Amazing pic moments. Good breakfast and entertainment at the end which aren’t included in some other packages you see. Only issue is the ride within right van amongst others. If you’re a couple try not to get stuck in last row save that for families. Make sure to dress warm.

The whole experience was pretty amazing, the customer service was great and the team helped me reschedule for another day pretty quickly.
Dress warm and wear comfortable shoes as you will be walking a lot in the pyramid area. Unfortunately you are not allowed to walk up the pyramids anymore.
I opted for the tour which was a nice touch as well.

Hi. Sounds good. We are three people.
Q for you.
Is there is a discount if I buy three tickets
How much cash should I bring with me for the day in pesos
Approximately what time would we return
And any suggestions on hotel in Mexico City - just to sleep and shower nothing fancy needed but it has to be safe or atleast if I give me some choices I can check them out. Thanks.
Written 27 January 2020
Hi, a can answer a couple of your questions. Not sure on discount when purchasing 3 tickets.
You don't really need any money as you are picked up and dropped off back at your accommodation. Lunch is provided. There is a few locals selling their wares in front of the hot air balloon office.. Also if you do the optimal guided tour they take you to a shop as well, so all depends if you purchase or not.
As for accommodation I stayed at Ibis Styles Mexico Zona Rosa, lovely ,clean and safe.
Enjoy your time in Mexico I totally recommend the sunrise hit air balloon experience..
