What to Expect
Hierve el Agua—“the water boils” in Spanish—is one of only two petrified waterfalls in the world. The bubbling, hardened mineral deposits are shaped like two cascading rock formations, making the site one of Mexico’s most captivating natural attractions. Once worshipped by the indigenous Zapotec people, the waterfalls can be difficult to reach by public transportation. On this convenient and action-packed combo tour from Oaxaca, enjoy plenty of time to admire the stunning natural wonderland. First, visit the traditional weaving town of Teotitlán del Valle, where Zapotec textile techniques have been passed down over the generations. Then, take a dip in natural mineral pools and stroll through the calcified landscapes. Finally, head to a local mezcal producer for a tasting tour of the sweet and fiery regional brew, including different flavored shots.

We went to 3 attractions and here are my review of each of them: 1. Textile tour: very educational and we learned about how they dye, weave and make rugs/tapestry. However, DO NOT, Under any circumstance, buy anything from them. You can get similar products in the Oaxaca city

We mostly booked this for Hierve el Agua and we were disappointed that our driver handed us off to a Spanish only speaking guide for this portion. The rest of the tour (mezcal and wool) were offered in English and were amazing!

Response from EnjoyOaxaca, General Manager at Hierve el Agua, Mezcal Tasting, and Teotitlan del Valle Tour from Oaxaca

Hello! Thank you for taking the time to write your experience; I am very sorry that the native people of "hierve el agua" do not speak English, this makes it difficult for you to have a better experience; In Oaxaca many towns live a type of government called "customs and customs" and they have their own laws and regulations, a rule in this place is that only native guides, can go with tourists on the trails, they make their Better effort and do not charge, just ask for a tip that is optional. This is the reason why our partners often cannot accompany them. I'm glad that your experience at the mezcal and teotitlan del valle factory was good. We hope to see you again on your next visit to Oaxaca.

Base on the price, I think it is a decent deal. But here is no guide, just the driver, it is a very hard path to get in the Hierve el Agua, I would not want to drive there myself. They did offer a guide service at the Hierve el Agua, no charge but tips required. The hike was

Hello! Thank you for taking a few minutes to write your experience, I am very sorry that you have a confusion regarding the guide, since this activity does not include a guide, it only includes a driver who speaks English, we have other activities which if they include a certified guide, they give you the Information of each place they visit. In Hierve el Agua, native guides do not speak English, they have rules in their town which does not allow guides or drivers to accompany tourists, and it is something we must respect. The tip to these guides is optional, they do not charge. We hope that in the future this rule can change. We hope to see you again in Oaxaca,

We really enjoyed this tour. They picked us up straight from our rented apartment and took us to a textile workshop where we got to learn about the weaving process. The place had beautiful rugs, pillowcases, purses, etc. We then went to Hierve el Agua, which was absolutely
