Beautiful canyon, rest of the tour is a waste of time
Tour starts at pick-up around 9:00 and finishes around 18:00. First you visit 2 viewpoints, keep in mind these are on a completely different route from the boat trip, so it takes around 3,5 hours of driving and 45 min of stopping to see the view. View is beautiful, but you’re there around 11:30, so the sun is high and colors are blend. You arrive at 13:30 at the boat, which takes you on beautiful journey through the canyon. The canyon is spectacular, but note that ALL tours are completely in Spanish, doesn’t matter which tour operator you choose. There are crocodiles and spider monkeys which was awesome. At around 15:15 you arrive at the town of Chiapa de Corzo, of which the only purpose is making money of tourists. It’s not fun, not beautiful, no good food, nothing. And a complete waste of time as they make you spend 75 min there. It’s an incredibly long day for what you get and actually want to see. Unfortunately the only way to see the canyon if you don’t have your own car, is through these tours and all tours are the same.

Canyon gorgeous and wildlife is visible
We booked in advance through Trip Advisor/Viator. We visited the agency shop front upon arrival into San Cris, as we had read another review that the driver required a physical ticket on the day. However we were advised, no physical ticket required. This is a Spanish only tour, this includes the boat ride. The canyon was gorgeous and we saw lots of birdlife and crocodiles. Due to a road block, the driver took an alternative longer route to the canyon boat dock which then meant that we didn’t have time to visit the canyon viewpoints (micadores). Extra time was given to explore town Chiapa de Corzo. We would have preferred to see the canyon viewpoints. Not much to do in Chiapa de Corzo. We headed to the river and had a cold beer under a shady tree. On the return, the morning road block turned out to be protesters and they had extended their activities to cut off the alternative route. We had to wait for hours for police to bring under control and for the road to be cleared of debris that the protesters had placed. We had a nice time in the canyon. The full day tour is a bit of a drag from San Cris.

We saw birdlike, crocodiles and hydro station
This is good value. 2 hours and you go approximately 35 kilometres to the hydro station. Some of the spots we stopped were polluted with trash, plastic bottles. They say there are 7 boats cleaning the river. Not sure about this. The mist on rhe river is , I think smoke from rhe outboard motors. You see plenty of birds.

Long drive for a two -hour thrill.
The bus ride from San Cristobal to the miradores was a drag. We had to travel through the state capital, Tuxla. We saw the epic view from two miradores... but to see that view required loads of driving. The highlight of the trip was the boat ride and we had a lovely guide (you must understand Spanish). We saw spider monkeys, crocodiles, many baby crocs, bright green lizards and lots of birds. There is a lovely waterfall that you go under with the boat (relief from heat and beauty). So the boat ride is very special even though the water is quite polluted. The town of Chiapa de Corzo was not worth the drive. Overall, I wouldn't do this from San Cristobal in a day. It's too much driving.

          Sumidero
The sumidero canyon is a must when in Chiapas. It is truly incredible. However, I recommend going through another tour company. The tour guide, Julian, gave the worst experience possible. To begin with, he never stopped at our hotel. He made a brief pause, asked a random lady if she was me to which she proceeded to say no and so he drove off immediately. Other tour companies get off and ask for you in the lobby. I called him and we chased him down the street. He told me to go back to the hotel and wait, we did. He then calls again and tells us to walk a block and meet him somewhere else. After the boat ride through the sumidero, we stopped to use the restroom being that it had been a two hour ride. He was aware we were in the restroom and still left without us. We had to run up to catch up to him. It was constant stress and anxiety to make sure we weren’t left behind. The experience itself is incredible, but opt for another company.

All about the boat trip so you can excuse the rest
The tour itself is ok. Forget any English support from the bus or the boat driver. There were quite a few Spanish speaking passengers on our trip who also spoke English, they became our tour guides ha ha. We went on a Tuesday which, we found out the day before, does not include the lookout for its closed every Tuesday. In hindsight it wasn’t a huge deal for the day is long without it and having read reviews of the full trip, 10+ would be rough. It’s all about the boat trip through the canyon and it really is amazing. The canyon itself is stunning, and the wildlife ie spider monkeys and crocodiles are prevalent. All in all, good trip for the money

          Cañon del Sumidero
Customer service was great. I called and everyone was nice and helpful. Once in San Cristobal, the van was on time. The tour guide was very nice and helpful. The tour itself made me fall in love with Chiapas. Super recommend this agency for tours.

          Excellent tour from San Cristóbal
Excellent tour, exactly as written. I was picked up on time from my hostel, our guide Mario was great, and the canyon was stunning.

          Great scenery, not great directions
Pick up was on time from hostel. Went to 2 seperate canyon look outs and boat ride through canyon. Great views, nice time on the water. Then dropped at a local town. What was not great was that our driver from the tour company did not introduce himself or give any information of meeting times or locations. The whole group was confused. Once dropped from boat it was a rush around the town to try work out the meeting spot and not be left behind. Other groups drivers were waiting at the dock and seemed very friendly and clear. However ours was not. Made it realy tricky. There was also not enough time for adequate food stops, only chips/drinks so suggest packing food. All the tour on the boat from the seperate company was in Spanish.

Amazing three cave systems, don’t miss them!
Typically I do not like tours but this was perfect because we had enough time at each location. There were only 3 of us and we got picked up in a taxi at our hotels. We went to Arcotete first and had one hour to explore the caves and surrounding woods. The cave system was above a river and at some points got very tight if you’re tall! But it had amazing views. We then went to Rancho Nuevo which had two caves to explore. The first was massive about 2,475ft long to walk through and at the end an additional 350 meters you can pay $35 pesos (not included in tour) for a guide to take you through to the end with hard hat and light since it’s completely dark. It’s worth it to see all the quartz, limestone formations. The cave next to this one Las Golondrinas costs $20 peses (not included in tour) and is not very long to walk but has the most interesting formations like a drip sand castle. A guide follows you to make sure you don’t touch anything since you’re among all these stalagmites and stalactites. All of the caves were exciting to explore and beautiful hiking area surrounding each. The convenience of having a taxi take you to both locations and wait was worth it. They’re both quite close from SCDLC center. The tour guide was really nice too. Both entrance fees to both places were included in the tour price but not the additional two cave walks I mentioned above.

          Beautiful boat ride
I enjoyed the trip. Very beautiful views and boat trip but the driver spoke no English and if it wasn’t for an other spanish speak who also spoke English I would have been quite lost on the meeting times and the when and where for meet ups.

Canyon is a blast - even in dust
The canyon is a blast and worth to see. The tour was great and also our driver was very kind. Regrettably my Spanish is too basic to understand everything so a bit more information in English would be great. Anyway I would always book again with you guys.

          Breathtaking, but be prepared...
I should have read some reviews before we booked this tour. The Miradores del Canon and boat ride through Sumidor Canyon were amazing. I'm not sure if any of the tour guides speak English, but ours did not (fortunately my husband speaks Spanish and could share some of the details). IT'S A LONG DAY! A REALLY LONG DAY! Much of the day is spent in a van. About an hour and a half to the Miradores, followed by another hour and a half to the boat launch, about an hour more back to San Cristobal. Also, the boat ride itself is nearly 2 hours. It's beautiful, but make sure to bring a hat and sun screen and were cool clothing and proper footware. I'm not sure if there are any operators that only provide the transport to the canyon, but that would be my recommendation. Don't be fooled by the "Magic Town" of Chiapa de Corzo. It is a fine Mexican village, but there is nothing "magical" about it. By the time we got there, I was so tired, I struggled to find any redeeming qualities.

Luckily, you can enjoy the beauty of the canyon without understanding Spanisj
The your was overall great given its price. The main disadvantage is that the driver and the boat driver didn't speak English at all. So you have to fully rely on yourself if you don’t speak Spanish. This means you’re given directtions about timing and meeting points in Spanish and it’s your problem if you didn't get it.
