          Full day Tour
Guided Tour from RIU Playacar with XCaret. Eduardo - Driver and Alfredo - Guide. Well organised and excellent history lesson about the ancient Mayan civilisation. Although a very early start (05.30) it was well worth it to arrive before the crowds. We knew very little about Mayan culture before the visit but their achievements, particularly in science/astronomy and using, but not abusing, the natural world are most commendable. The latter especially represents lessons to be learned in this day and age. Following this a swim in a Cenote and a buffet lunch. Not sure if you can buy cheaper tours but this was certainly good value.

          Fantastic!
We were picked up at our hotel by the coach. We had an excellent guide by Xcaret who was very knowledgeable. Chichen Itza was absolutely magical. We spent enough time there but not too much which was good. You MUST bring your own water. We purchased water there and was charged the equivalent of £12 for 2 waters. They absolutely rip you off at the shop. On top of this, the experience is slightly soiled by the sheer amount of vendors that are set up along the paths. You can't take more than 2 steps without someone trying to sell you a magnet. Takes the historical sense out of the experience getting pestered every 2 seconds. We then went to a Cenote which was unreal. Not too crowded, loads of catfish and crystal waters with the roof lined with birds. Just magical. Life jackets were mandatory and provided.

          Amazing tour!
Amazing tour! Our guides were Margarita and Fabian, and our driver was Alfredo. They were all so lovely and so knowledgeable, you’re so incredibly lucky if you get this team. Like many others have said, this tour is long, so be prepared. However, it did not feel as long as it was. This was the tour I was least excited for as I’ve seen Chichen Itza before, but it ended up being my favorite. They say that in total you’ll be away for 12 hours, but everyone in my group was always on time, so we ended up home at around 6:30pm. Some people say that the food you get is low quality but oh my gosh it is NOT. The buffet here is the best I had my whole trip and maybe my whole life (I’m Mexican so I’m credible). Amazing time, I would love to do this trip again.

Place was amazing, lucky to say that I already got to see 1 of the 7 wonders of the world. It was really hot tho during our visit, so I recommend you to bring your hat or umbrella, sunscreen or anything to cover you up from the sun ☀️

Best experience on tour to Chichen Itza, a cenote and Valladolid
Dally and Santos were excellent guides. They gave historical and cultural information at every turn. Even the meal that was provided was really good! The cenote we visited on the way was gorgeous and unforgettable. Unique experience, safe and they provide water at Chichen-Itza. My fiancé and I loved it! Highly recommend! Tip your guides well!

I went to Chichen Itza today. Xcaret has a great organization, they were on time for the pick up at the hotel in the morning, and they offer a very professional service! 👌 Our guides ARTURO and SARAH and the bus Driver as well ANGEL were all so kind, experienced, friendly and very professional! The tour was perfect thanks to this great team! I recommend it a lot! Gracias for such amazing day! 🙏❤️

          Xichen on a budget
This was a trip that you just have to take. We got the deluxe package, which meant that you got an umbrella and a drink for an extra $20. The good - The guide was very knowledgeable, and if course, the historical significance of the sites speaks for itself. The Xenotes at the end was a very nice experience, but also jam packed. Needs work - The group size was pretty huge, and transportation seemed to take forever with drop offs, transfers and stuff. All in all, one of the only reliable ways to see these sights.

          Epic but flawed
Journeying early a.m. (0700) from our Hotel near Cancun, 45 mins wait for a connection at a busy Petrol Station, then another 45 mins wait for 2 remaining passengers- so at least an hour and a half before we even set off, then at what seemed a leisurely pace along central highways heaving with roadworks. Barely functional air conditioning and patchy in-coach WIFI was frustrating. Arriving at Xichen, the throng of tourists and the coach park with engines turning over pumping fumes is quite disappointing. UNESCO I’m sure aren’t aware of this? Finally entering the main site we are besieged by hawkers and souvenir stalls at every opportunity which tbh spoils the grandeur of the main event - the Temple and associated buildings. This isn’t enough time to explore the vast site, however access is strictly time allotted. A whistle stop 1.5 hours before we’re leaving in the coach and off to a nearby Cenote (underground water hole) which was amazing. If it wasn’t for the issues I’ve mentioned this would be 5*. A very long day - arriving back 20:30. Our tour guides Eduardo and co. were outstanding.

This was such an amazing tour! Nefy was an extremely knowledgeable tour guide and was very conscious of everyone’s first language so they could understand what he was saying. It is a long drive so bring a book or headphones while you are in the bud, but it is well worth it!

Not enough time at each site. I felt rushed. Also, we were told right from the start the bus bathroom was only for “number 1”. Wth?
I would not do it again. They should skip one of the stops and allow more time at each place. By the time the tour guide was over we had 15 minutes left at the Chichen itza site and given the distance between buildings, I could not see what I wanted or take pictures. I felt it was a day of my vacation wasted. A long time dream to see the pyramids and the complex and it was at arms reach and I had to leave.
I spent more time on The bus than sightseeing. I was told it was 2:30 to get the and back but add another 1:30 to get to the city and another 2 hours to change buses and stop at other hotels.
I wish I would have looked at the other reviews before buying g this.
Also the lunch was late. Very, very late. We are at 3:30pm. My teens were starving. I would say bring snack but then, what is the point of buying a deluxe tour where you have to bring your own snacks??
It is not 12 hours. We left at 7:15 and got back to the hotel at 8:30pm. I missed reservations I had done because I was told we would be back by 7:00 by by he sales person. At least our guide was super, super good and kind and attentive. I would give him 5 stars!
Bring pesos- Almost all vendors at the city will not accept credit card or dollars.
Notice this is not a review of the sites but a review of the tour. All places were amazing!

This was the worst tour I have ever been on. We were picked up from our hotel at 7am. An endless coach journey on which we were supposed to be served breakfast....well, if you can call a stale ham and cheese sandwich, a weird muffin thing and a carton of orange juice served in a plastic box breakfast? We specifically asked for a vegetarian option when booking the tour and it didn't happen - we didn't eat anything until the afternoon stop for lunch at 2:30pm....we were absolutely starving!
The first stop at the cenote, was a waste of time. The cenote itself was very beautiful, but we weren't given enough time to have a decent swim. The mayan village was non existent, so a waste of time.
Chichen Itza was beautiful, however the amount of traders trying to sell you their tat was awful. The charm of this wonder of the world has been completely taken over by market traders and the vast flea market as you go in.
Again we had a bit of a tour, but it was mostly in Spanish, so I ended up buying a guide book to read up on it myself. We were not given enough time to explore this vast site, so we didn't manage to see it all which was very disappointing indeed - this was the main reason we decided to come to this part of Mexico, so we feel incredibly let down.
The best part of the day was the afternoon lunch at the restaurant we stopped at. The selection was fantastic and we were starving, given that we hadn't had a single crumb for breakfast.
Eventually, we arrived back at our hotel around 9pm, after what felt like the longest coach journey in the world - it really was not a pleasant experience. The trip was very overpriced with hardly any English translation, so I definitely wouldn't recommend doing it (unless you desire to sit on a coach all day).

We visited the famous Chichèn Itzà on Wednesday 18th May. The temples itself were amazing and I am pleased I can say I have seen a wonder of the world. But the deluxe tour we were on wasn’t that great. I felt the tour guide was very biased towards all of the Spanish speaking people on the bus. Even though there were English/American there too. He was very hard to understand at the best of times. Plus when booking the tour we were not told about the transfer from one bus to the other, we were under the impression that we would be picked up from the hotel and taken straight there. We ended being on the bus from 7am to 11:30am. Not good at all. Also what was off putting was the amount of stalls that were allowed to sell you things. It’s all the same stuff and they were really annoying as well making silly noises to try and impress people.

If I had the chance to do this trip again I wouldn’t bother. Once is enough.

THIS tour lasted 14 hours! We were not told that we would only get one meal, and that we should probably bring snacks. We were not told to bring a swimsuit so if we wanted to swim we would have to buy one there, and a towel. And we were not told that 10 hrs of this trip would be spent on the bus. I feel like if they told people the truth nobody would go. The trip could have been better if the bus went straight to the cenote instead of going 2 hours out of the way to switch buses in Tulum.

Ignore Your Tour Guide. They will tell you not to buy from the vendors in Chichen Itza, saying it's poor quality and you need a receipt to take gifts home. Total rubbish. Because what will happen is they take you to an expensive restaurant and then take you through a gift shop where all the same products Tue vendors were selling are all there, except 10 times as expensive. By then it's too late. And don't fall for the birth certificate rubbish either for 50 dollars. What a con.

Dear visitor, We'd like to mention that one advantage to buy products at our store is that they come with a warranty, as opposed to souvenirs from vendors. We hope you can visit us again soon. Kind regards. Alexis A. Grupo Xcaret – Customer Service. + 52 (998) 883-3143 - US 855-326-0682

Not enough time on places. Few times the guide give us a meeting point but was at another place.
No Covid safety regulations! No mask asked in the bus, people coughing and sneezing in the bus without mask. It was more important for the guide that we could drink beer than people had to wear a mask in the bus…. No control of temperature before entering in the bus.

We did the Xichen Delux tour while staying at Xcaret Arte. Our guides Marcos and Omar made the long 12 hr trip a very fun time. Marcos helped us on the tour to understand the Mayan history in the area and to help clear up some misconceptions people had while on the tour. Don't be afraid to ask questions about anything while on the tour. Marcos and Omar did a great job of presenting the complicated history of the Europeans and Mayans in an informative way. The second part of the tour is to a cenote in the area. It is a gorgeous swimming experience, but there isn't a lot of time there so I suggest wearing your swimsuit under your clothes so you can spend more time enjoying the cenote. The last segment of the trip is to Valladolid to have a late lunch and do some shopping for gifts and memories. Don't spend too much time eating if you want to see the town and you can spend too much time bartering if you don't watch out. All in all Omar and Marcos made the experience unforgettable and extremely entertaining. If you get car sick take dramatize or skip because you will be spending a lot of time on the bus, over half the trip.

Way over priced and the tour was more of a marketing scam. We paid about $130usd for the tour for two people. The ticket to see Chichen Itza was about $56 for two people. The first stop for lunch at the "authentic" Mayan hotel was a joke. All they did was try to sell you way over priced items. We sat there for 2 hours waiting to go to Chichen Itza, which was the reason we wanted to go in the first place not the lunch. Then after Chichen Itza, we went to a cenote where you had to pay for the life jacket which is mandatory if you want to swim. Finally we got to Viallodid and only got to see it for 30 minutes. This whole trip was a waist of time and money. If you want to see these beautiful places, just go on your own.

The bus showed up to our resort 40 minutes late and there was no way for us to know when or if it was coming. That was really nerve wracking. The in bus wifi was a nice touch but it was really slow and unreliable. The bus should be upgraded so that people can use them to go "number 2", not just to pee. The whole bus should not have to stop at a gas station for someone to go. The bus should give out more water not just pop and beer. We only got water after 3 hours of being on the bus. The breakfast turkey sandwich and corn muffin were very good. At the cenote, a locker should be included in the tour. It is 30 pesos additional cost. The change rooms at the cenote were very bad. No where to put down your items to change or to sit down. The cenote Tsukan itself was beautiful. The tour at chichen itza itself was pretty good. They did a good job of explaining el castillo and the ball court. I wished they would've taken us to the other buildings and done the same. The food and ambiance at la casona was quite good. The whole tour felt extremely rushed, which is understandable given the amount of ground to cover. However, even just 15 minutes more at chichen itza and the cenote would have made a huge difference. Overall, you can probably find a good deal at your resort/hotel with better communication.

Our guide Ricardo was amazing he was very informative and you could tell that he had a passion for history. On the bus the refreshments were perfect. It was difficult to hear the history video. On other tours in other countries, inexpensive ear phones are use to help hear the presentation. This would have been very helpful. I would have loved to go inside and or visit a museum to view artifacts and maybe a video or show that would reflect about how life was. Also, more shade opportunities and or cooling stations would be great.
