You should do it at list ones.
It is a great experience , but check a weather forecast. If there is no sun and too wavy, your fun will be cut in half. Staff are very professional and helpful although.

          Instagram opportunities galore
The trip was nice however felt more of a 'instagram tour' rather than to see the area. Loads of opportunities to take photos by signs, swings, hammocks and in the water. This was lovely but not exactly what the tour described so we were a little disappointed. Loads of swimming opportunities, you do get a small amount of free time to explore the area in Bacalar which has a fort and a few stands selling items and food (which were really nice and worth having). Mainly swimming spots though. Only issue we found that although the guide spoke English, he didn't come on the boats with us so we didn't understand any of the pirates element of the tour because it was all in Spanish. Some other guests were super helpful for us translating what we could however as the main guide knew we booked and English language trip and the locals spoke no English (which is absolutely fine) however felt he could have come along to help us a little more rather than waiting on the dock.

          Unprofessional
My partner and I were refused service, the steak had me sick the whole entire next day it was not cooked at all, we ordered 3 drinks 3 different times as we were asked by the host what we wanted and he said he would bring it, never brought it, then two waiters asked us what we wanted to drink and never bought our drinks to us but brought the couples next to us there drinks it was very very unpleasant experience.

No regard for our time. Left hotel at 7:35 am didn’t get back till 7pm. we felt trapped and felt like we were held captive waiting for them.

          Great snorkel experience
Our guides Raphael, Kevin and Christian were wonderful, pick up and drop off with Jorge was seamless. The Whatsapp representative was prompt with answering messages and confirming information. The reef gave us the opportunity to see many fish, including Trumpet fish, Barracuda, conches, coral, and many varieties of colourful marine life. The snorkel activity provided the gear, goggles, snorkel, flippers. After the snorkel adventure, we had the opportunity to learn about the production of tequila and have a sample tasting with generous pours, which we very much enjoyed. We were then escorted to lunch at a restaurant on the beach where we were served tacos, the fish tacos were the catch of the day and delicious. Our guide Raphael took us into Puerto Morelos for a little walk around the town square for more photos and souvenirs. We purchased on this tour our photos, tequila and some souvenirs from a local shop. It was a wonderful experience, highly recommend this tour for snorkelling, all the guides were top notch. Things to know - sunscreen is not allowed as it damages the delicate coral, so bring a long sleeve rash guard, they are also available for purchase at the tour counter. Cellphone/cameras are not allowed, as if they are lost, the lithium batteries will kill the coral. The guides take better photos then you could take with your own camera anyway, so let them do their job. 5 stars

          Amazing, unforgettable experience!
Our trip began promptly at 7am outside our hotel which was the Grand Oasis, we were shown to our coach by a lovely man and we drove a short distance to another location where we had to change to the mini bus we stayed on for the day. We were introduced to another man who handed us a breakfast bag which contained a ham and cheese sandwich, an apple, some juice, a snack bar, and a bottle of water - having just had breakfast at the hotel we saved this for later. We were firstly taken to the Tulúm ruins which took us around 2 hours - the coach was well air conditioned so we didn’t mind the journey. We picked up lots of others on the way. We then got to our first destination - we were given instructions on what to take into the ruins but with the tour operator only speaking Spanish we couldn’t understand too much! Another tourist let us know to take water, a hat and sunscreen. We got to the ruins and were shown to a guide who showed us around and explained a lot of the history behind the ancient ruins! Very interesting and informative although again - English not great but we did get the gist of it. On the way back from the ruins it is a long walk back to the meet up location and having run out of water and not having anywhere to buy any more at the ruins it was exhausting and quite scary. We got to the meet up location and bought a litre of water immediately and drank the whole thing - if you are going - MAKE SURE to take LOTS of water!!!! We then got inside the boiling hot tour bus and because I was already feeling extremely faint I honestly thought I was going to pass out and felt extremely ill at this point. We were luckily taken just around the corner to a beautiful Cenote where we were given a life vest, told to take a cold shower off (this saved my life) and shown down a short path to the Cenote! We all got in and we were introduced to a lovely guide who explained very well all about the Cenote depth and what to expect etc. It took around 30-40 mins to swim through this beautiful Cenote and have opportunities to have photos etc inside. After this we felt extremely refreshed and we were excited for our turtle tour! We got to the bus and it was nowhere near as bad after having our cold dip in the Cenote - the journey to Akumal took around 20 mins, during this trip we ate our breakfast bag that we were given earlier on - which was delicious! We arrived at Akumal beach around 3pm and we were provided with a life vest and snorkelling equipment and shown down the beach to where you swim out to see the turtles - this was the highlight of the entire day! We were told in English the signs for turtle, stingray and jellyfish and the rules of what to and not to do. We walked in and started swimming out to where the turtles are feeding on the sea grass and almost straight away we spotted a turtle! We saw at least 20 turtles and other exotic fish as well which was an amazing experience and one that we will never forget! We managed to take in our phones and the lovely tour operator (a young girl) managed to get my phone working through the plastic case while we were swimming for me to capture these incredible moments so thank you so much! We then showered off afterwards, got changed and had to leave the beach almost immediately which was a bit disappointing as we thought we would get a bit of free time to enjoy the beach and maybe get a drink - the swimming was exhausting so for non swimmers I probably wouldn’t advise - although one of the guides did have a safety ring which a few held on to towards the end. We then got back onto the bus and taken to our final destination which was a lovely authentic Mexican restaurant where we picked out what we wanted for our food - I chose the beef fajitas and my husband chose the grilled chicken - both came with rice, veg and sauce and this meal was absolutely amazing! We were also provided with a side of tortilla chips and salsa which went down a treat! I wish I could remember the name of this place because I highly recommend it! After our meal we all got back on the bus and taken home - we arrived back at our hotel at 7pm - so 12 hours all in all. Got home with just enough time to get showered change and go out for our evening entertainment at the hotel! Amazing experience - highly recommend, the only thing I would recommend is that the tour guide maybe have some printed instructions in English for those who struggle to understand Spanish. Everyone was friendly and welcoming and we will definitely be back to Mexico 🇲🇽 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

          Changed
The crowds, art galleries, all that made it so special at one time is gone. Taos has relocated it excess "tourists" up the mountain to La Veta CO.

La Herencia, Hacienda Tres Rios, Riviera Maya
Just returned from two weeks in La Herencia at Hacienda Tres Rios on Riviera Maya. Very relaxing time and we were well taken care of by our butlers (Daniel, Gabriel, Gaston, Ruth and Enrique). The head butler, Edgar, has brought some fresh new ideas to his butler staff and in amenities offered and communication with guests. We were updated frequently on events in the resort and restaurant schedules, and butlers checked in with us frequently to see to our needs. Pool waiters Filiberto and Victor kept us refreshed every day. Miguel at the Grill and Luis at Alebrije were always pleased to see us. Alexis, Jesus, and Beto guided us on excellent Segway, kayaking and nursery tours, which were all much fun.

Avoid at all costs. Tourist trap meant to separate you from your money.
Avoid at all costs, this is just designed to herd you and others into tourist traps. The catamaran is too small for the amount of people they jam on board, the drinks are warm and bland, the snorkeling is so short and in a terrible location. They abandon you to an overcrowded marina as the beach for two hours holding your stomach for ransom while they try to sell you crappy souvenirs and overpriced cheap tequila. It's the worst experience. Then onto another beach where they have a terrible buffet and all you want is to go home yet you know you have another 3 hours of this hell. You are never taken to the northern point of Isla Mujeres, so you never get to experience the best beach in the area.

We enjoyed our trip from Cancun to visit the Pink Lagoon at Las Coloradas. We stopped at a crocodile 🐊 farm on the way and also went for a boat 🚤 trip to Rio Lagartus. The boat trip included a stop to apply some mud which we were told was great for your skin.

The late lunch was great and luckily we had some snacks to keep us going, otherwise we would have been really hungry.

Worth the long journey and the people in our bus were good company. We have been even better if our tour guide filled more of the dead time on the bus providing us with some local insights.

If you were only planning a single excursion during your stay I would prioritize touring Mexico's Yucatán Peninsula visiting Chichén Itzá, Cenote and Valladolid.
