- sambZ5306EI0 contributionsGreat excursion in Cozumel.I would highly recommend this for an excursion and Cozumel. It was very informative. The location was exceptional. The food was good and the lady that put on the tequila tasting was very informative.Written 18 November 2024
- rachelsM4851FQ0 contributionsSwimming with sharks and rays!I am so glad that we booked this excursion for our cruise day in Cozumel! The facility was well set up and organized, and the guides clearly have a lot of love and respect for the animals. We learned about the rays as well as interacting with them. We also got some really fun pictures of us with the rays (you have to pay extra to purchase the digital copies of the pictures they take). The snorkeling was probably our favorite part, because there were so many rays, as well as other fish. We saw two nurse sharks as well. I wish we could have snorkeled for longer than 30 minutes! We brought our two kids, ages 6 and 9, and they loved it so much. The only bad thing was that there were a lot of waves when we were interacting with the rays, because of Hurricane Helene. I know it’s not the fault of the company and our guide tried to make us as comfortable as possible. It was just bad luck with the weather. But I still recommend this excursion and we would do it again if we were back in Cozumel.Written 27 September 2024
- haleyk950 contributionsGreat ExperienceDaniel was absolutely fantastic! My boyfriend and I visited in January and learned so much. He's very knowledgable and passionate. The tacos at the end were delicious as wellWritten 26 September 2024
- zkemom0 contributionsFun ship excursion!!We booked this as an excursion from a Royal Caribbean port stop, and we were not disappointed! The snorkeling stop was neat seeing coral and beautiful fish! Just the right amount of time before back on the boat for a ride over to their facility where we got in the enclosed area with the stingrays. It was nice being shallow enough to stand. Beautiful, clear water to see them swimming around us too. They provide water shoes. And then another area to snorkel with nurse sharks was fun as well. Enjoyable lunch at their tables in the sandy/beach area, with neat over-water swings to enjoy too. Open bar always a bonus. During the snorkeling and stingrays they had a photographer, and I appreciated how low pressure purchasing their photo package was. That was refreshing, as was the price for the photos! The boat ride back to our ship port was super fun with loud music, conga lines and tequila tastings. Fun, fun day and educated, quality staff too! Highly recommend for anyone, but as a Mom of 3 I’d add that I was far more relaxed with 15 & 17 year olds with me than I would have been with them younger for this 4 hour excursion.Written 19 September 2024
- Yanez K0 contributionsHorrorful! We‘ve not been there (inside) BUT it's a sad sight: dozens of giant stingrays trapped in a relatively small area, their stingers removed, and unable to swim freely like their counterparts in the open sea. It feels like watching circus animals forced to perform tricks for their food. If that's the sort of thing you enjoy, then you might like it. But honestly, I don't understand how anyone could recommend this.Written 1 September 2024
- nathancE101HF0 contributionsExcellent time, particularly the snorkeling. We did the stingray feeding and snorkeling. Jorge, our guide, was excellent. Our time was wonderful. Photos were more reasonably priced than other attractions and there aren’t a ton of upsells which I appreciate. Really, the best part was the snorkeling. There are a great variety of other fish and we really enjoyed it. In fact I wish they had the option to return and just do the snorkeling. We would gladly pay for that as the stingray education is pretty much a “one and done”.Written 7 June 2024
- annasS1468OL0 contributionsGreat experience and welcome! The guide is Pedro and Javier. They make us laugh and have fun with rays. They make sure we feel comfortable! As we are deaf, they are great to show and make us sure we understand and not left us out. And I want to give thanks to Pathi. She knew some sign and great explain to purchase the pictures and stuff! We feel pleased to have her and our guides! This is wonderful experience and feel welcome! The pictures with rays are worth it!Written 8 April 2024
- cikeller0 contributionsAbsolutely incredible! This experience was everything I could have hoped for and more! I’ve been obsessed with rays since I was a kid, and this was a perfect way to appreciate and interact with them. Our guides, Manuel and Ricardo, were kind and helpful. They made sure we were comfortable and well-informed about every aspect of the experience. I was able to touch, feed, and swim with probably a dozen stingrays. They were peaceful, friendly, and beautiful. Small kids loved it, parents and grandparents loved it- you should check it out for yourselves. Also- the snorkel gear they provided was clean and fit well. Clean bathrooms/changing area. Their photographer, Maggie, was awesome! I ended up purchasing the full package of pics she took, and she even included great underwater shots of the rays, sharks, and birds at the beach, I cannot recommend this place highly enough, and I can’t wait to go back!Written 18 March 2024
- 594kce0 contributionsAvoid at all costsBeware! This place is the epitome of a dodgy tourist trap, and they will nickel and dime you for everything. We booked a 3.5hr experience from our cruise ship. Although the guides were great, we got 30 min tops in the stingray area, most of which was an assembly line of taking kitschy pictures with their photographer. (You aren’t allowed to bring your own cameras into this areas and get your own pictures with the stingrays…they want to charge you for these later) Then the “snorkeling portion” is a maximum of 30 min in a caged area in guided loop (you aren’t allowed to use this time to snorkel on you own and explore if you have experience : /) After this time, you are rushed out of the water because they have tours scheduled behind you. That’s it…there are no other activities and you aren’t allowed back in the water on your own. They had a macaw set up outside and my kids asked to hold it and take a picture with it. The gentlemen said if we bought a picture package they could. We proceeded to buy their entire picture package and then they said, “Nope…you are going to need to buy a separate Macaw picture opportunity now.” The manager is there is the worst…so condescending and corrupt. These people are ALL about the money and all they care about is how they can get more from you. They definitely don’t care how hard you worked to earn it or about you having a good time/making memories. Avoid at all costs and hold your wallets tight.Written 14 March 2024
- Y5044JHjeremya0 contributionsMust do in CozumelI really enjoyed the whole experience! It was fun to learn about both male and female stingrays. Pedro was an amazing guide. He was very knowledgeable and helped everyone hold the stingrays for pictures (I wish I purchased a picture holding one.) I loved how he made sure that everyone was having a good time and made sure everyone was okay. Will definitely do it again next time. Highly recommendedWritten 13 March 2024
- ssnyder970 contributionsThe best excursion of our whole trip! Danny is the best!Daniel was such a knowledgeable and personable connoisseur of tequila and Mezcal. And he shared recipes as well that I can’t wait to try. I could have spent days there learning from him. I will absolutely be back! I highly recommend this experience. You won’t be sorry.Written 2 March 2024
- katarinar9980 contributionsAbsolutely recommendI'm not sure why this place got bad reviews. We did this excursion as a part of our Disney Cruise. We had an amazing time. From the moment we were picked up on the boat I knew it was going to be fun. The crew members on the boat were playing great music and entertaining the kids. They took so many pictures for everyone also. Once we got to Sting ray beach the instructors were funny and very personable. We learned alot about the stingrays and even got to kiss them! During the snorkeling part we got to swim with the sharks and the stingrays. Afterward, we had a nice lunch at the little beach area and the kids got to race crabs. Overall, it was a really fun expierence and I would definitely do it again!Written 29 February 2024
- RyanMayberry170 contributionsSwimming with stingrays and sharks and learning about Ocean conservancy and marine life.Jorge is an amazing stingray guide as well as his team. Hilarious and personable, and a lover of marine life; I would recommend this experience to anyone staying in Cozumel! HUGE SHOUT OUT TO JORGE GRACIAS POR TODO WEI!Written 22 February 2024
- T5874BEjosephm0 contributionsNot all that!Very small fenced in area to snorkel with a handful of sting rays and two sleepy nurse sharks. Not a bit of any live plant life on the bottom. Then you go to shallow water for a photo that they charge $70 for... whole thing just seemed like a scam. $100 pp to snorkel and another $70 bucks for photo. This was not for us! This was a Norweigian Cruise excursion.Written 28 January 2024
- dank6520 contributionsGreat family adventure for all ages!We had a fantastic time visiting Stingray Beach in Cozumel. We were 4 families visiting together ages 8-80+. It was easy to travel there by the Cozumel ferry from the resort we stayed at in Playa Del Carmen (just a short taxi ride to the Ferry terminal) Those who wished were taken on a short boat ride to the snorkel area. The senior family members appreciated the option to stay back and use the many facilities on shore, (maybe get a massage!) Safety was always a top priority on the water. The staff were very attentive and gave special attention to those who had not snorkeled before, making sure they were comfortable. On return, the highlight of the trip, getting to feed and swim with the stingrays. The staff ensured safety and everyone's comfort level was respected. Everything was captured by a professional photographer allowing you to leave the camera behind. Again, those who wished to stay dry could watch the fun from the private pier, allowing all ages and abilities the opportunity to take part. Lunch was served (authentic tacos!) and the kids all agreed it was "the best meal in Mexico" Thank you Stingray Beach for a wonderful family memory.Written 9 January 2024

Did this 2 hour workshop in the a.m. There were roughly 24 of us in the class. It is held in an a/c room with a beautiful view of the ocean. Started out with a small chocolate martini and some history of chocolate, how the beans are harvested, etc. Lucy was the main speaker and was ably assisted by Eva and another girl. All were very pleasant and made the presentation very enjoyable. This was followed up with the grinding of some chocolate and packing it into a small mold. You are paired up, it's one thick chocolate disc per couple (which you would use in making hot chocolate at home). After that, you are given multiple small squares of various chocolates that are paired first with chardonnay wine then a red wine. They are quite generous with the wine! Following that, you are given a slice of chocolate cake & a small cup of hot chocolate, which was delicious. Before leaving, you are given your chocolate disc and the opportunity to purchase chocolate, etc. from the gift shop area in the same room. This was the best $45 tour I have been on. Highly recommend. Easy access from the Intl cruise terminal (where Bubba Gumps, Margaritaville is). If you enjoy a good walk, I would recommend crabbing to the tour location and then wander back to the terminal. You can see the ships from Stingray Beach where this event is located. Should mention that the room where they hold the tour will accommodate those with mobility issues but I am not sure if the washrooms on the beach level can be accessed. The event room is more or less on street level with a small ramp for thse with walkers, wheelchairs, etc.

This was a truly exceptional experience. Eva lead the day. She has exceptional English and is very knowledgeable about history, chocolate, chocolate making, and wine.
Our day began with making our own chocolate from raw ingredients. We placed the chocolate into models and were then able to bring it home with us. We tried 4 different chocolates with a white wine and six different chocolates with a red wine.
At the end of the event there was a full shop of all the products. We will definitely do this tour again, especially as we can use our resort credits from Cozumel Palace for the experience.

Lucy's presentation about the history of chocolate was well done and informative. Our group of 6 enjoyed making our own chocolate and the wine/chocolate pairing was great! This was a favorite outing for all of us while staying on the island! Highly recommended!

Wendy was very nice and very knowledgeable about the chocolate itself! She was very helpful and encouraging throughout the process and the chocolate tasted amazing!! Everything was natural and tasted authentic! Would recommend this to anyone looking for an experience away from the water while still having a lot of fun.

Had been to Cozumel a number of times & was looking for something different to do. Highly recommend--was one of the best experiences we've had on numerous Caribbean cruises. It's at Stingray Beach in an air conditioned pavilion with clean restrooms. You learn the 500 year fascinating history & significance of chocolate. You get to grind the beans & make your own chocolate (not just a demonstration) to take home, followed by a tasting of nine kinds of locally made chocolate with wine. The presenter (Wendy) was very knowledgeable, helpful & funny. Lots of good chocolate to buy for gifts. A great alternative for adults looking to do something different!

This was an absolutely wonderful and authentic experience. You learn the full history of chocolate….and try so many! But the BEST PART….You will literally make chocolate from cocoa beans to take home!! We were the youngest in the class, and would suggest his class for all ages (assuming you are of age to partake in the wine)! This class is worth every penny and more! Come, laugh, play (rolling cocoa like tortillas), and visit with people from all over the world!

We recently attended this excursion from the Disney Fantasy. We went for the afternoon after shopping from the port. The afternoon trip was just 2.5-3 hours. It is a short drive down the beach in a taxi. Once there you are introduced to the history of cocoa. How it grows and is harvested. How the beans are converted into paste and then turned into chocolate. After you make your own cocoa you are then given samples of several different types of chocolate that are paired with two wines a light white for the sweater chocolates then a dark red to go with the dark chocolates. The overall trip was quickly over and they let you take back you cocoa paste for making your own hot chocolate.

We've been to Cozumel enough times that we wanted to try something different. This was a great choice. The venue is beautiful, comfortable, and not a long ride from the port. Lucy did a great job of educating us about chocolate and wine production, particularly in Mexico, and she made the whole class a lot of fun. I'd highly recommend this experience.

We had an amazing experience with our chocolate guide Wendy. It was fascinating to learn the history of how the chocolate we all know and love came to be, especially how it relates to ancient Mayan culture. It was truly an organic and captivating presentation. Afterwards, we all got to make our very own fresh chocolate bars which was a lot of fun and surprisingly easy! We finished off our tour tasting a variety of different locally made chocolates and sipping some fine Mexican wines. If you call yourself a chocolate lover and you find yourself in Cozumel, you can’t pass this up!

I appreciate your positive review, especially since I was the one who came up with the idea of creating a Chocolate Workshop. I had seen a presentation in Miami by a famous chef on the processing of chocolate and realizing that the Mayans had discovered this process thought it should be made into an informative "tour". (The Mayans never figured out, like the Swiss, to add milk to their formula. Likely due to their not having COWS!) It was also later at a dinner party where I was having a chocolate brownie for dessert with some leftover red wine, that I discovered how well the two went together. Again, I love that you enjoyed the experience!

Very enjoyable two hours learning and experiencing chocolate. It started with a wonderful chocolate martini, because of course it's 5 o'clock somewhere!!! Learned a lot about chocolate and then made our own chocolate bar. Finished the morning with wine and chocolate tasting. Never knew how much the various chocolates could change the taste of wines. Lucy made it an enjoyable day. We walked here from the Cruise Port.

Do participants provide their own transportation to the location?
Written 25 July 2019
We were on a tour from a cruise ship that provided transportation, but I would think you can provide your own transportation. If providing own transportation, I would call about available times to be sure a tour group isn't scheduled when you plan to go. Space is limited with only one class at a time.

We are coming in on a cruise. Do we need to arrange own transportation to this venue? If so, how much should we expect a taxi to cost and how long to get there?

If you are on a cruise ship, most likely you would book through them.
