About the operator
Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- J5421OEbrandonb0 contributionsGreat ExperienceWe very much enjoyed our trip to Tulum with our fantastic guide Enrique. The tour was great and our guide was very knowledgeable about the culture as well as the archeological site. We followed up our tour of Tulum with a nice cenote. The cenote was beautiful and our group was fantastic. The tour offered great pictures at the end but it was not required to purchase. We enjoyed our entire trip with Enrique and would do it again.Written 12 January 2025
- KC7100 contributionsChichen Itza Sunrise tourI was looking for a tour of Chichen Itza from Cancun, and this one was perfect. I was picked up at my hotel promptly at 6:00 AM and then headed straight to Chichen Itza. Snacks and drinks were provided, and we stopped for a restroom break as well. Once we arrived, we walked right into the grounds and began our guided tour. There were two other groups and our guide did a good job of keeping everyone informed and moving through the various sites. We were also given time to explore on our own before departure. Back in the van, we were provided lunch and refreshments. One more bathroom break on the ride back and then I was dropped off back at my hotel by 3:00 PM. This tour was exactly what I wanted and our guide did a good job of explaining what we were seeing. I was back at the hotel with plenty of my day left. I definitely recommend this tour for people who want to see Chichen Itza without losing a whole day.Written 12 January 2025
- 951kurtc0 contributionsTulum, Akumal, SenoteThe trip was amazing. Amazing ruins. We saw so many turtles snorkeling and the swimming in the cenote was unbelievable.Written 10 January 2025
- 517mahil0 contributionsDon't miss out on this amazing tour! This was an outstanding tour. The pick up at hotel lobby was right on time. Our guide, Carlos, was terrific; very knowledgeable and attentive. The tour of Tulum ruins was quite an experience. I would have liked more time to explore on our own. Next stop was snorkeling off of Santa Fe beach. We saw sharks, rays and many friendly turtles. They provided brand-new snorkeling equipment. The water was warm and so clear. Next stop was coves and cenote - truly the highlight of the trip: we entered the cove/cenote from one location and swam through the brightly lit coves while discovering bats of various sizes. We exited the cove at a different location. Our guide, Carlos, was continually proving us with geological and cultural information about the bats, the coves, and the cenote. We ended the tour with a traditional Mexican lunch near the coves. Best tour of our trip to Cancun.Written 10 January 2025
- frankkD5759JL0 contributionsFun timesMy wife and I had a great time on this tour. Enrique our guide was very friendly and organised. We particularly enjoyed swimming with the turtlesWritten 10 January 2025
- RStair1230 contributionsSuch an amazing dayWhat a fun day trip! Our guide, Marina, was fantastic. So informative, so fun, and an all around great tour. The tour schedule was well-paced – we did so many awesome activities, but it didn't feel like we spent a ton of time in the van. My favorite was swimming in the underground cenote. I would definitely recommend this trip and Marina as the tour guide to anyone visiting Tulum! With snorkeling and underground cenotes, I would sugegst leaving your camera/phone in the van. For a fee, you can purchase photos taken during the day by a professional photographer. Their underwater pictures are WAY better than anything I could have taken on my phone!Written 9 January 2025
- JeremyD2210 contributionsChange of ItineraryAlma was a very fun guide! Due to bad weather the tour was changed — instead of going onto a boat and looking at coral reefs and the life there, we went to a lagoon to swim. The lagoon, although filled with fish life, was a little disappointing as I was looking to being in the Caribbean Sea. On the other hand the cenote was one of the best I’ve visited. Finally, we could have had a bigger minibus. Every seat was taken and with bags etc, it was fairly cramped by the time everyone was on. Overall, I would recommend going on this tour.Written 9 January 2025
- christinetU4458CO0 contributionsTulum, Turtles and CenoteIt was the highlight of our trip to Mexico. Alma was fabulous and the whole day was wonderful and well planned. My whole family loved it my husband and my 19&21 year old sons.Written 9 January 2025
- tamic20250 contributionsThe best excursion annd tour guide ever! Our tour guide, Paco was absolutely outstanding. He was very knowledgeable about Tulum, and gave us lots of history about the ruins and Mexico in general. When we swim with the turtles, Paco assisted even the weaker swimmers so that they were able to participate in the excursion. Our photographer was able to capture the most amazing pictures of turtles, fish, and our family. The cenote was the favorite of several people in our family, and is one of the most beautiful things I’ve ever seen. My nine month old granddaughter absolutely loved swimming in the crystal clear water! I cannot recommend this trip, or Paco as your tour guide enough!! 10/10 recommend!!!Written 9 January 2025
- Jonathan O0 contributionsFamily snorkeling adventure, cenote and TulumClaudia did a fantastic escorted private tour for my family. She was very knowledgeable and candid in providing the history and local norms of Tulum and the Cenotes. The snorkeling was absolutely fantastic. We saw both sting rays and turtles as well as the beautiful reef and its other inhabitants. Alan was our photographer and produced amazing shots during the snorkeling adventure. I would highly recommend this excursion.Written 8 January 2025
- sushibear10 contributionsRecommended adventure with great storytellingSuper sweet trip to Tulum and Ocean Adventure's cenote, which were huge, winding, and well-lit. We saw bats! Enrique was a great guide who provided rich details about the places we visited and the culture and history. Lunch was provided at the cenotes - fresh vegetarian-frieny bean & mushroom tortillas with fiery good hot sauce. There was a very cute gift shop that gave us free tequila shots and plenty of hammocks to relax. Highly recommend the tour, and if you're lucky, Enrique will be your guide!Written 7 January 2025

We were picked up on time at Playa Del Carmin in a clean van with good air conditioning, & cold bottled water. We were staying in Cozumel and took the 0700 ferry across to Playa del Carmin. If you are reserving on-line, you must select a hotel for pick up, and there was no option for pick up at the ferry terminal, so I had selected a hotel nearby. Then the operator emailed us and said it was not necessary to walk to the hotel but instead just to wait at the entrance to Senior Frogs right outside the ferry terminal which worked great - our guide Rachelle was waiting right there for us! Our total group size was 10 people, 8 French Canadian and us 2 Americans. Rachelle spoke both French and English very well. First stop was the snorkel to see turtles at Akumal Bay. For us, that part of the tour was just average, as it’s crowded, and we had to get in/out of a small boat to ride only about 100 yards to the snorkel area when we could have easily just swam out. BUT, as advertised, we did see several see turtles, and our 2 guides were very focused on safety and keeping the group together. On the ride from Akumal to the Cenote (last 15 mins dirt road very bumpy), we were given a snack of local made empinadas after the snorkel, hot and tasty. The Cenote was AWESOME! We went to both a dry and deep water Cenote. Nice paths, easy walking, (bring bug spray!) then steep steps with good handrails in/out of the Cenotes. We were floating/swimming (easy in life vests) inside of multiple caves with stalagmites and stalactites, straws, & columns, very beautifully lit & unique! our guide was very knowledgeable on the geological formation and history and some of the Mayan rituals. There were bathrooms and changing rooms at both spots. On the way back Playa del Carmin, the photographer Lucho showed all the pictures he had taken - great photography & reasonable price to purchase them on a thumb drive with extra pics they added. Definitely would recommend this tour as great for families and agile seniors (we are ages 62/65). Loved it!

There was another tour operator that bailed on me so I choose this tour the day before the actual program: despite the timing, the operator was great in communicating with me and all the logistics were great. Collin, our guide was awesome in communicating with us in 2 languages and always gave us the details what we needed to know. During the snorkeling we saw 3 turtles and in general enjoyed the program. Despite the fact that the Akumal bay is quite popular, we did not feel crowded, had ample space to swim around and explore. The time spent snorkeling could have been more :)
After that came the snorkeling in the cenote that felt more like a cave. I am a bit claustrophobic but Collin was great, gave me a torch so I felt more secure and could participate in the whole program. We also did a small walking tour where we had a chance to explore the surrounding nature.
It was also a nice extra that we had the chance to buy the pictures that Luco made during the trip.
Overall I would totally recommend the tour :D

This is a great tour. There were 9 of us, 4 adults and 5 kids ranging in age from 10-17. We booked a private tour and requested Tlaltemoa (David) because we had him as a guide earlier in the week to swim with whale sharks and loved him. The company was easy to work with and helped us pick the day with the best weather for our availability. The trip from the hotel to Akumal flew by as David kept us entertained with information about sea turtles, the history of the area and the Mayans. We had a great time snorkeling, the ocean was a little choppy and the visibility wasn’t great but David, and our photographer Tony, did a great job finding sea turtles for us to see. David was great with the kids, even pulling our youngest on a life ring when he had a hard time keeping up with the group. In addition to swimming with several turtle we also got to see a sting ray!
The Cenote part of the trip was awesome too. You drive through the jungle for a while to get there and when you step out of the can you feel like Indiana Jones. The cenote was so refreshing after the heat of August in Mexico and David was so knowledgeable about the Cenote explaining how they were formed and pointing out special features. We had a blast exploring the Cenote and the kids loved jumping and diving into the crystal clear water. Highly recommend getting the picture package, Tony did a great job and it was nice not to worry about having a camera. Highly recommend this tour and our guides

We loved this fun half day trip! that we took on 9/16/22! It was 8 people which gave the tour a semi-private feeling plus our wonderful team of Baltazar (driver), Nadia (guide), Natalia (photographer). We started off early in Akumal and were amongst the first groups there. Natalia, our photographer, did a group/couple/individual photos on the beach before snorkeling to start off the day. Then we were taken out on a small boat and snorkeled our way back to the shore. All the snorkeling equipment was provided. We were able to see a wonderful variety of rock formations, coral reefs, fish, stingrays, and turtles! We then proceeded to explore Xtun cavernas, an underground cenote. This required a pretty extensive drive on a dirt road that we would've never been able to get to if traveling by ourselves. Inside the underground cenote, we were the only group, so it was a very private and peaceful environment. The water was clear and beautiful, and swimming through the caverna was amazing. Then, we had empanadas for lunch and watched a slideshow of photos from the half day. The pictures taken throughout the day were very high quality and quite affordable for the quantity ($40 USD for all digital photos for the day). Everything went smoothly and the entire tour was perfectly designed!

Wow !!!!! What can we say from the start to the finish this was Awesome.
We got picked up at 8.30am bang on time and was offered refreshments on boarding the mini bus.
Claudia was our tour guide on the day she was so pleasant and nice, she never stopped smiling all day. We set off to the Telum Ruins and arrived there 20 mins later. Claudia was very knowledgeable about every part of the ancient Ruins and the mayan tradition.
We stopped for a group photo infront of the Ruins. We was given a snack bag containing pretzels, biscuits and pastie.
We then went to the cenote which was under the ground in caves, the water was very clear and fresh. Claudia's knowledge of the cenote was unbelievable and really interesting.
We jumped into the water and swam and walked through the cave. We saw fruit bats and little fish inside the cave.
We then exited the cenote cave and was seated with lunch where we could pick from 3 choices of fillings rice , pasta and taco's.
Drinks where also provided orange , water or mixed juice.
We then drove 25 mins to the Akumal beach where we got changed and ready for the swim with turtles , we got issued with mask and snorkle, and a bouyancy aid. We then had photos taken by a professional photographer that worked for ocean tours.
We then all boarded a boat for a short 300m ride out to sea where we jumped off into the water. From there we saw fish of all shapes and sizes , then we saw them the best sight ever Turtles big ones and small ones on the sea bed and they came up to breath to which was so close to us.
We got to shore by swimming and it was so easy as you just floated my wife and mum did this which had never done this before and they loved it and glad they did it.
On the ride home the photographer showed us the pictures he had took and they was amazing , we thought at 1st we wasn't going to buy them but $170 was the price for 206 photo's of very high standard honestly they are well worth the price under water shots, modelling photos next to a boat , group photos in the sea and inside the cenote.
Alls left to say is we had a fantastic time and would give it 10/10 Claudia was amazing thankyou so much for a great day.

I really enjoyed this excursion, however I have to give the experience one star because I still have not received my pictures after paying $40 for them and sending multiple emails requesting them. My boyfriend and I did the excursion on 1/24 and after seeing the photos decided we wanted to buy them. At the end of the trip we paid $40 cash and received an email receipt which said we would be able to download the pictures within 72 hours. After getting home from our vacation I realized we still had not received our photos. I wasn’t too concerned and figured I may have misspelled my email when giving them my contact info. I sent an email on 2/1 to an email provided on the receipt explaining the situation even including my order number. I did not hear back and on 2/3 I sent another email. I have yet to get a response and now almost a month later have not received my photos after paying $40. I am extremely disappointed and frustrated by this experience. I do hope this is an honest mistake that can get sorted out but I would caution anyone wanting to buy photos to pay with a credit in the event that a similar situation happens to you you are able to at least get your money back. Hoping that this review will be enough to get Ocean Tours attention so they can rectify the situation.

We had an amazing day snorkeling with turtles in Akumal with ocean tours. We saw three turtles and got close enough to watch them eating and bobbing up for air. We also saw loads of fish, live coral and stingrays. We paid for a private party of 8 which was well worth it as it wasn’t crowded and we had the guides full attention. On that note Chema our guide was amazing. Very knowledgeable about the turtles, conservation, local plant life the history of the area. He obviously loves his job and his dedication showed.
After snorkeling we went to cenotes caves. The caves were beautiful. We had a light lunch before entering the caves were Chema told us all about the Mayan beliefs of the underworld and upperworld and how the stalactites and stalagmites, and tree rooted were all part of the culture. We swam in fresh waters and discovered the caves.
The tour was well worth the money.. also the photos were amazing. We obviously paid extra for the photos but they are memories we will have forever. Excellent quality photos and the photographer captured moments we didn’t know were being photographed.
Overall .. a wonderful day with amazing guides and we made memories to last a lifetime. If you do anything in mexico … do this.. you will not regret it.

Absolutely amazing time. Akumal bay was stunning and we saw several turtles, rays and lots of beautiful fish on the reef. There were 8 of us but paid for 9 to get the private tour- but was definitely worth it. Our guide was Chema who was very knowledgeable about everything, professional and great with the kids in our group. The tour, bay and Cenotes were still enforcing social distancing, mask wearing and there was plenty of sanitizer around until you were in the water so everything was clean and safe. Just when you thought it was worth the money just to snorkel you were then taken to the Cenotes. They literally are breathtaking! Chema again was an amazing guide explaining everything in great detail. (The journey to the Cenotes is a little bumpy so if you get travel sick maybe pack a tablet or too!). Chema also kept a couple of surprises for the end of the tour which everyone loved. Would definitely recommend this tour!

My boyfriend and I went on the half day sea turtle and cenote cave tour on a private tour with Xenia, Stefani (photos) and Daniel the driver extraordinaire! I highly recommend a private tour as we had the entire cave to ourselves. I also recommend private as the sea turtle snorkel portion felt much more intimate and you got much longer time observing them in their natural environment. What really made the excursion though was our hosts. Xenia was fantastic! She was so well informed and told us everything we needed to know prior to the excursion as well as throughout. Her excitement is infectious and you can tell she truly loves what she does and I cannot say enough good things about her! Please request her if you plan a day with them! Stefani was also wonderful! So sweet and kind to take pictures and allow us to focus on having a wonderful experience! Daniel was our driver and helped us with everything including equipment, water, and providing help with anything we needed to stay comfortable during the drive. Loved this group and we had such a great time spending the day with them!

I took this tour on my very first trip to Mexico on my very first day. The hosts in my resort tried to detour me from going and book something more expensive with the resort since the van was not allowed to enter the property. I nervously went to the entrance, met the guide Rachelle and quickly realized I was in excellent hands!! Our driver Emmanuel was absolutely amazing and our photographer Steffi was so talented. The tour of the cenotes was not only a lot of fun, but Steffi’s knowledge of the history and passion for nature made this experience so educational as well as adventurous. Here we were treated to some delicious empanadas before heading to a beautiful white sandy beach to snorkel with the turtles. We swam for a bit but once we saw these beautiful turtles, it was well worth the effort. Rachelle led us so safely. Steffi truly shone here. I am not sure how she did it but she was on top of every photo moment and caught some of the most hi def photos above and under the water. This experience truly set the bar and actually made other snorkelling tours feel sub par. Thank you all for the life long memories. If you do only one excursion, I highly recommend this tour. Be sure to ask for the team if Rachelle, Steffi and Emmanuel!!!

Am I able to use my own snorkel instead of the ones provided? I have a snorkel that covers my entire face so no need for a traditional snorkel

Sorry if this is too late. Did this tour yesterday, the snorkels they provided were fine. Others were wearing the masks you've described so yes you can.

How long do we spend snorkeling? I am very excited about snorkeling for the first time and seeing sea turtles is a huge dream of mine. I want to spend as much time in the water as possible. What time is pick up from Playa del Carmen and how long does it take to get to Akumal? Is the transportation time included in the tour time or separate?

Can I bring my own dry bag to your around with all my personal belongings and is the use of personal cameras/phones prohibited. Just trying to see if we’re forced to buy photos from the tour guides bc some excursion enforce that

You can bring your own camera/phone/GoPro etc. They have no issues with it. But they do have a photographer assigned to the tour. He takes the photos and reviews them at the end of the tour. If you like them, you can buy or decide not to buy.

Do you provide lockers to lock up our belongings? Or do they stay on the bus?

Yes, you can bring a GoPro! I wouldn't suggest your phone because it will get wet!

We will be staying at the Iberostar beach resort. Do you pick up there? If so do I choose Riviera maya?
