Each 9-hour tour — first of Chichen Itza, then the archaeological site of Tulum — takes place over two consecutive days, starting with hotel pickup in Tulum in the early morning to escape the afternoon crowds. You're provided with a boxed lunch (chocolate bars, potato chips a juice box,a bottle of water)
Day 1: Chichen Itza
Learn from the expertise of your guide as you explore this UNESCO World Heritage site, also named one of the New7Wonders of the World. Receive information on the archaeological surveys of the site and the ancient Maya civilization that once inhabited the city. On your walking tour, view the pyramid of El Castillo (The Castle), aka the Temple of Kukulkan, and see the Temple of the Warriors and the great ball court. You'll also glimpse pre-Columbian structures such as El Caracol (the Observatory), Las Monjas, and Akab Dzib.
Day 2: Tulum ruins
Tulum is one of the most studied archaeological and ethnohistorical sites of Quintana Roo. On this morning visit, you'll take time to admire its architectural and natural beauty. See the emblematic building known as El Castillo, once used for religious rituals and as a beacon for Maya merchant ships sailing along the coast of the Yucatan Peninsula.
