The nature was spectacular and otherworldly. My wife and spent more for the newer jeep and it was worth it. 2 people fit extremely comfortably (as driver and guide in the front) Driving around with top down was such a cool experience . That being said, it was January so it was COLD in the wind, so make sure to dress in layers, wear a hat, scarf, and most importantly, a wind breaker. Our guide Bong and driver Thang made our experience even better, taking us to many fantastic lookouts and also helping us buy warm clothes on the journey (what we brought wasn't enough but we easily got new clothes at local market for cheap)Written 11 January 2025

We got lucky and the weather was sunny. Our group only consisted of 2 people and a tour guide and everyone rode their own bike. The tour guide Tony was really good - very knowledgeable about the local area and explaining relevant information about the way of life of the tribe people. We rode a lot the first two days, stopping occasionally to see viewpoints. We sometimes went on roads that other groups did not take so we didn’t run into too many other tour groups. We stayed at home stays that we’re comfortable and the food was good all around (rice with side dishes of meat, tofu, and some vegetables). Only complaint is that I feel we sometimes rushed through landscapes and didn’t stop enough to take it all in, but maybe that’s because we were the 3-day tour on a tighter schedule.
It is definitely possible to do the Ha Giang loop on your own (following other tour groups or doing it completely independently) and this is likely a cheaper option, but having a guide was an awesome experience!

We were recommended this tour by our hostel owner in Hanoi and it was the best experience! Our tour host Chiên was so knowledgeable, friendly and confident and made us feel completely at ease and made sure we had the best time, we arrived at 10pm at the homestay in ha giang which I would really recommend as we got a great first night of sleep to set off well rested for the tour.
We booked the tour with easy riders which we would highly recommend as the route is quite hairy at times and the easy riders handled them like pros and made us feel completely safe the whole time. We were unlucky with the weather and so got caught in the rain but all the wet weather gear was provided and chiên changed his stopping points to suit the views that were visible and make the most of the incredible scenery.
Both the nights in the home stays on the tour were so beautiful, we had private rooms in both so again got great night's sleep which we really needed after long days on the bikes. All meals are provided and we loved them all, a great variety of meat and veggie dishes and some happy water to cheers with.
This was the last thing we did in Vietnam after travelling for two weeks and it was the absolute highlight! Incredible!!

Wow! What an amazing experience. I Didn’t know what I signed up for as my friend organised the trip but the whole experience was definitely beyond my expectations. Our tour guide Frank is so friendly and helpful and has really made me fall in love with the city and the people. Frank took all measures possible to make sure we felt safe and looked after, checking on our riding skills and always making sure we were well rested and well fed. The local food is delicious, nutritious and just really taste like a home cooked meal. The home stays were all so friendly and welcoming, making us feel immersed in the village culture. It is such a humbling experience to be able to witness the village life and how happy everyone especially the young children are. Always waving and smiling living in the most basic conditions. This will be an unforgettable experience and Frank our tour guide has really given us a new insight to life. I would highly recommend this tour to anyone who currently lives the city boy/girl life. You will gain a different perspective to life. We have so much in city life, yet we can still be so stressed and depressed. This tour and our guide FRANKALICOIS has been life changing.

This was absolutely the highlight of our trip in Southeast Asia. The views are the best I’ve experienced in my life, and the tour itself was fantastic. Frank, our lead guide, was a burst of positive energy and so knowledgeable around the people of Ha Giang and the loop itself. Our group was never more than 9 people and actually reduced to 5 after the second day. The home stays were all clean and had a really fun vibe with LOTS of karaoke! Most importantly, everyone in our group felt safe - these roads can be very challenging but each driver in our group was excellent at navigating through it all. 10/10 would recommend, it is a life-changing drive led by people who genuinely enjoy the journey with you. Thank you thank you!!

Can’t recommend this group enough! I’ve lived in Vietnam for almost 5 years and this is one of the top things that I have done here.
We booked a 3 day, 2 night loop tour with Authentic Ha Giang (booked high quality package with private rooms and limo bus transfer from/to Hanoi).
Communication was excellent even before we started the trip, and once we hit the road things just got even better. Our group leader Niên was fantastic and I was lucky enough to have him as my driver for the loop.
I was unsure whether I wanted to drive all of the route or not as I’m only used to driving semi automatic bike in a city, so I had the option to either sit on the back or else swap around with my friend who was driving herself and drive her bike at times when the roads weren’t too scary.
I was so happy that this option was provided as it meant I was able to enjoy the amazing views for most of the route but still drove a small portion of it and got to experience driving the twists and turns.
Food was delicious and there were plenty of rest stops along the route to stretch your legs and have a drink. First night accommodation was in a homestay in Du Gia village with karaoke which was great fun and the second night was in a small hotel/homestay in Dong Van town. Hot water and cosy beds!
Views were incredible and the drivers were pure experts, knowing when to change the route depending on worsening weather conditions to keep us safe. Not once did we feel scared knowing these superstar guys were behind the wheel!
We came as a group of 1 couple and a friend and all agreed it was the best weekend we’ve had in a very long time.
Thank you so, SO much to Niên, Luu and the rest of the guys who helped make this such a special trip!

We had the most amazing 3 days doing the Ha Giang tour with these guys. When we were looking into doing it, they were so helpful and answered all our questions really quickly and thoroughly. They organised everything from our transfer from Ninh Binh to Hanoi then into Ha Giang, food, accommodation, water etc. for the 3 days so we didn’t have to plan anything at all. They were fantastic drivers - the loop isn’t always the easiest terrain and they navigated it expertly so we always felt safe and comfortable. The home stays were great and food excellent. The group was small which was fab as it felt safer and we had a bit more control over timings etc., and could take our time at viewpoints etc. if you’re looking to do the Ha Giang loop I would highly recommend this company, can’t fault them!

This was a really an amazing trip with stunning views! We really recommend booking this tour because it is a small groupso we had more time to see everything. Our tour guide Zaj is a local who knows the area really well and you can see how much he cares about this place. The drivers were also amazibg and we felt really safe during the trip. I would strongly recommend bringing sun screen and and long sleeve clothes because you will probably burn otherwise. All in all we highly recommend this trip - one of our favourite experiences!

After looking at a few other companies I ended up going with this one and could not recommend it enough. I had poor communication from other sellers but this company was quick to reply and answer all my questions and provide me with all the information I needed before my trip.
I was a solo traveller, it was a small group of seven and our amazing tour guide Javu and the wonderful team of drivers. We saw bigger groups on the way but I would definitely recommend a smaller group. As a solo traveller I found it easier to connect with everyone and had a wonderful time meeting people. As a smaller group we were also able to go on a hike to a cliffface which was definitely a highlight of the trip. The private room was another luxury that I was very grateful for and the hot showers an delicious food (with “happy water) was excellent too. All three days were full of the most unbelievable views and beautiful scenery.
I cannot praise our guide Javu and the drivers enough. The drivers were so attentive and looked out for us, they were truly dedicated to giving us the best experience possible. I had not had much experience on motorbikes but felt incredibly safe and comfortable. Javu was amazing and told us stories and shared knowledge about the culture. They constantly checked on us and asked if we needed anything such as extra blankets. It also happened to be my birthday and unbeknownst to me they had organised a surprise birthday cake which was so special and lovely. Every single day was amazing and I will always remember this trip and the people I have met. I cannot describe how beautiful it is.
One thing though: pack warm! It was a lot colder than expected and the windchill can be very harsh. The drivers were really nice and helped us all buy some warm gloves and face warmers at the first stop. An amazing experience and well worth it.

The tour was exhilarating with absolutely breathtaking views. Our guides, Nien and Du, drove safely, respecting our comfort levels and ensuring we got back in one piece. I also loved passing by local villages and see the Hmong people in their daily lives. The homestays were a beautiful touch, with welcoming hosts that sit and share a huge family feast and drink with you - a truly authentic experience!
I would also like to write about the human component of this tour. We seek experiences where we are treated like human beings rather than just another paying customer. And Motorbike Tours definitely did that. Our guides were personal and fun, while still very attentive and delivered quality service. They truly went above and beyond to make sure we were taken care of. Even with a situation after the tour on an unrelated bus company’s transportation back to Hanoi, where we felt unsafe; we reached out to Nien and he got in touch with the appropriate contacts to ensure the situation was rectified immediately. Nien continued to look after us even after the tour <3
Mr Thai was very responsive, and patiently provided quick and thorough responses to all of our inquiries. I can’t stress how important this is to booking a tour online. This was the main reason we chose to book with this company over the rest. You get what you pay for!
Overall, it was an unforgettable experience with memories and lifelong friends made along the way. Definitely recommend!
TIPS: Cover up during the tour, the sun is strong and you will likely get burnt. Also be prepared for some sore butts! (But, haha, this is all part of the experience)

Mr Thai was very responsive, and patiently provided quick and thorough responses to all of our inquiries. I can’t stress how important this is to booking a tour online. This was the main reason we chose to book with this company over the rest. You get what you pay for!
Overall, it was an unforgettable experience with memories and lifelong friends made along the way. Definitely recommend!
TIPS: Cover up during the tour, the sun is strong and you will likely get burnt. Also be prepared for some sore butts! (But, haha, this is all part of the experience)

We did a private 3day/2nights tour with motorbike tour ha giang in early to mid September 2022 and had a blast on the back seat of the motorbike with stunning views of mountains, vast valleys and lush green rice paddies. Although there were others tours doing the Ha giang loop, it didn’t feel touristy/crowded since the region quite big. We considered taking a car because we were worrying about weather and bump and back problems ( mid-fourties), but it really wasn’t a problem and looking back we really would have missed out on this feeling of freedom if we were sitting behind the car windows most of the time. I think being out in the open in this beautiful piece of nature really makes a big part of the of the journey.
Our guides were Tony and Tu, and we couldn’t have had better guides. Despite they’re young age, they were very respectful and took care of everything from
getting a coffee to packing our stuff on the motorbike to finding a suitable toilet when needed or carrying our luggage. They were very knowledgeable und informative about the history and the culture of the Ha Giang region and were fun to be around with.
We felt save at all times on our backseats, Tony and Tu knew when to drive carefully and when it was ok to speed things up a bit. It was the 279th time Tony did this loop, so he knew each and every corner and bypass.
Communication wasn’t a problem at all, especially Tony spoke very good English, I was surprised to hear an American accent. I am especially thankful they took us to authentic but yet save restaurants beyond the typical stir fry western tourist usually get served on tours ( like in Sapa).
Long story short, we had a terrific time in the Ha Giang Region with motorbike tour Ha Giang ( in fact we liked it best on our Vietnam trips so far) and wanna say thank you to Tony and Tu for this amazing trip.

Are we allowed to drive the bikes ourselves on this tour?

Yes, two people in my group rode themselves. You require an international driving license to ride yourself. There were multiple police checkpoints when I done the loop
