- Julie W0 contributionsFabulous mountain town and a great place to visit, with loads to do across a 3-night stay.Fabulous place to visit. 3-night stay, which felt long enough to do everything we wanted to. - L2630GVjocelyns0 contributionsBest way to experience the sights around Banff. We booked the Hop On Banff bus so that we could see all the best tourist places around Banff without driving. I highly recommend this as it took you to Johnsons Canyon, Lake Louise and Lake Louise Gondola and Moraine Lake. From what we saw, driving there is a nightmare, the traffic is horrific so taking the bus just makes sense. Plus the drivers and the guides are all really nice, they take the time to talk to you and personalize your day making sure you know when and where to catch the bus and what to see. They also talk to you about the locations, the wildlife and the history of the area. We were able to plan our day and make it fit in with what interested us and what we wanted to do, as there was ample time at each stop. Best decision ever to book with them.Written 24 August 2024
- geraldinep3900 contributionsWelcome Aboard! HOPONBANFFSo pleased we booked this tour. We had a fantastic day and fitted so much in thanks to Tyler and Dominique assisting with our own adventure style tour. We managed to visit Johnston Canyon, Lake Louise and Moraine Lake. At each destination we had plenty of time to explore and take photos before boarding the bus and going on to our next scenic stop. Great value for money and highly recommend.Written 25 September 2023
- SightseerPDX0 contributionsGreat tour in Canada's National Park!Tyler was our guide (and owner) for most the stops of this creative tour company. He helped us figure out which route was the best for us to do. We would highly recommend this tour. Great way to see Lake Louise, Moraine Lake and Johnston Canyon. It would have been impossible to find parking if we had driven ourselves. Tyler is very personable and the other tour guide is very humorous.Written 13 September 2022
- Gayle P0 contributionsGreat day!Our guides visited with each group on the bus so we could plan our day. They marked our schedule on the itinerary so we would know when to get back on the bus, and everything worked out perfectly. We were able to visit the most popular places and not worry about parking. - Experience2017930 contributionsTyler made it rightTyler is awesome in responding to my concerns. I missed the bus at the train station based on wrong information. Although I missed it, Tyler rectified the situation and we spoke. He is professional, cordial, courteous and went beyond what I expected in rectifying the situation. Even though I was misinformed as to where the bus picks up at the train station, he promptly solved the issue and went back to the source of misinformation to make sure his customers are not misinformed. I would try the service again next year. Thanks, TylerWritten 6 August 2019
- 12lovestotravel120 contributionsPerfect! This was the best tour we booked hands down. So easy, comfortable and Tyler made sure we had our itinerary planned and helped us decide what was best for our family with 2 younger children. A relaxed, and casual, but fun way to see the sights. My wife and I had a fantastic day on the Hop On Hop off bus in Banff. While we had rented a car but we decided on doing the tour as we had read about the problems of parking in the favorite tourist spots. It was great travelling on the old yellow school bus and we picked it up at 7.50am at Banff Train Station, (you can park your car at the station FREE for 9 hours). We were met by Tyler with a warm welcome and he gave us a bus timetable of all the stops, once everyone was on the bus and we started our journey he went around everyone asking what we wanted to do during the day, highlighting the arrival and departure time from each stop we wanted to do and the best order to get the most out of our day.
We arrived at Johnston Canyon at 8.25am and departed 10.10 am.
Lake Louise arrived at 11.15 am departed at 1.40pm James was the guide on this bus.
Lake Moraine arrived at 2.05pm departed 3.05 pm arriving back at Banff Train Station 4.55pm. these stops gave us sufficient time at each stop,Tyler and James were great guides,Ron and the Lady driver ( sorry forgot her name ) were great. We saw some wildlife but the highlight was the Black Bear just on the side of the road on our return to Banff, where Ron stopped the bus giving everyone the opportunity to take photos.
This has to be the best way to see the lakes as the car parks are full by 5-6am, we can not praise Hop On Hop off enough, excellent day.

A very big thank you from all of us that were able to be a part of your experience here in Banff. The drivers and guides get to read all of these reviews and it really makes their hard work more rewarding.
As much as we are transportation to all of these places, we are still tour and customer service focused. So the sighting of the bear and Ron making sure to stop safely for viewing is just as important to us as James' great service and humour.
We will make sure that everyone gets to see your review, and thank you for writing it.

This tour option was an absolute delight. Driver was extraordinary and as enthusiastic as the guides. All were exceptionally well informed and excited about sharing all of the beauty of the Banff/Lake Louise area. The guides spent time with each of us individually to make sure we each had the experience we wished and at the same time shared history, stories and information about all of the sites and the travel in between. They are young entrepreneurs with a wealth of experience and contagious enthusiasm. I recommend them without reservation.

This was an awesome way to experience the major sights and sounds of Banff, especially if you have limited time. We only had 2 days and wanted to make the most of our time. The Banff Hop On Hop Off crew did an incredible job. There are many options to see the places that are of most interest to you. At the start of the day they check with each party and customize their schedule to know what time to catch the bus at each of your preferred destinations. We went to Johnston Canyon, Lake Louise, Moraine Lake, and ended with the Lake Louise gondola. They were all stunning and majestic. The HOHO crew were awesome! Friendly, helpful, and provided great insights that enhanced our experience.
They were fully booked on the date we needed but they encouraged me to check back as cancellations occur and that’s exactly what happened.
The cost was more than reasonable.
We had a group of 5 - 3 adults, our 18 year old son and 4 year old daughter. No cost for our 4 year old but we needed to have a ticket to secure the space. It was a full day for our little one (picked up at the Banff train station at 7:50 and returned at 6 pm) but she handled it well. We did the first loop hike at Johnston Canyon which was well within her capability. The HOHO crew had an activity book for littles which we filled out throughout the day and she got a keepsake when it was finished.
I’ve recommended HOHO to family and friends already and wouldn’t hesitate to recommend to anyone. Do it, you won’t regret it.

Everything about this was fantastic. From the early morning pickup in front of the train station in Banff, hopping on the big yellow school bus and having lots of individualized attention from the drivers and the guides, we enjoyed every minute. When researching how to visit Lake Louise and Moraine Lake, it was clear that there was no way we could drive ourselves to either of these two destinations. We came upon Hop On Banff and figured this was the best way to see all of the major places people want to visit nearby to Banff. We signed up for the full experience, early morning pickup to last bus back to town. We started in Johnston Canyon, and had a great hike up to the falls. We then went to Lake Louise where we picnicked lakeside. Our bus picked us up right in front of the Fairmont so it was an easy on, easy off at this stop. Next we went to Moraine Lake, which was spectacular. It was chilly so we went back to the bus a little early and had a great chat with our driver and learned a lot about the area. Our last stop was the gondola/chairlift at Lake Louise ski area where there is a panoramic view of the mountains and beautiful blue Lake Louise in the distance like a jewel in the crown. We traveled along the Bow River Parkway both ways and looked for wildlife as we traveled.
I highly recommend these folks - they keep it simple and share a lot of information along the way. At the end of the day, you felt like you had some new friends in Banff.

We had an amazing day!
Dominique and Tyler were both so friendly and knowledgable. We liked the fact they interacted with the customers rather than just talking at us. The drivers also super friendly!
The day was really well organised and explained to enable you to easily visit all the places you want to (we visited Lake Louise, Lake Moraine and Johnston Canyon, all amazing experiences).
Travelling on the school bus not only made it easy to spot in the busy car parks, but as we come from Europe where they aren’t used, it added to the experience!
We would 100% recommend this company to anyone visiting Banff!

Best way to see the highlights.
The shuttle spots to Lake Louise and Morraine Lake booked up 4 months in advance, so needless to say, we didn't get a spot. And I wasn't about to leave it to chance and hope that I can nab one of the last minute spots (those open at 8am, 48 hours in advance) and get booked in 30 - 60 minutes.
Book this tour, you will see Lake Louise, Morraine Lake and Johnston Canyon. There's a couple different ways you can plan your day, but don't feel the need to get overwhelmed beforehand. Tyler and Dominque will sit with each group at the beginning of the bus ride to help you plan it out depending on what you want to see and do. They will also stop at various scenic stops during the tour and will stop for wildlife (we saw elks and even a black bear). If you want to have extended time at Lake Louise, skip the gondola. You can always come back to this location on your own, there's tons of parking as it is the same place as the shuttle park'n'ride. Maximize your time at the sites where there is very limited parking.
I would recommend doing this tour on your first full day in Banff. If you want to spend more time at Lake Louise doing the hikes or Johnston Canyon to visit the upper falls (we only had time to make it to the lower falls), then you can plan for it on a later day.
Park at the Banff train station where the bus picks up. Plenty of free parking.

This is not a hop on hop off bus (unless you want it to be). It is so much more. The guides (Dominique and James) will curate your day for you, depending on what you want to do (walking around Lake Louise or hiking to the falls, etc.). They will advise what is possible and what you should focus on. Although we had a hire car, we decided on the tour because of the problems parking around the popular lakes. Our plan originally was to only go to Lake Louise (which we did), but Dominique was quite clear that we would be missing out if we did not go to Lake Moraine. We were glad we followed her advice. Like i say: So much more than a hop on hop off bus.

I think the one thing we have, and will always be proud of, is our commitment to making sure that our guests get the full value of what we offer.
Many of our guests book on with us because they know that we can always get them to the one attraction they are after. But we know that we can show them so much more!
So thank you for trusting Dominique and James with your day here in Banff.

Excellent owner team. Made sure that each group on the bus knew what bus schedule they should follow based on what they wanted to see inside the Park. The absolute best way to move around the park. Banff National Park is very crowded during the summer. There is virtually no parking unless you enter the park at 5am. Hop On and Off gets you to every prime park location with plenty of time to see each major park attraction. Or, you can do a hike and catch a later bus. Tyler and Dominique are very accommodating and helpful. I was so glad I booked this service and did not have to drive and wait hours in line to get parking at Lake Louise and Moraine Lake,

The staff and the service were fantastic. If you are going to Banff and want to see the tourist sites around the area, this is the tour to take. The place is very busy, to be expected in August, and the car parks are very full, with cars doing the circuit to try and get a spot. The bus is a much better option, straight to each attraction with preferential parking and in particular access to Moraine Lake, where private cars are not permitted.
Tyler and Dominique were fantastic throughout the day. Their knowledge and experience helped us get the most out of the day and allowed us to visit everything we wanted to see. Having travelled from Australia, this tour provided the opportunity to see all of the major attractions in the area, with a minimum of fuss and plenty of good advice and local knowledge. I cannot recommend this tour enough.

We chose Hop On Banff for our day tour after researching other options, including the Parks Canada shuttles. They offered the best value and most flexibility in our schedule and gave us ample time at Johnston Canyon to reach the upper falls, at Lake Louise to make it to the Lake Agnes Tea House (a bit hectic but doable) and to marvel at Moraine Lake atop the Rockpile. There was an additional stop available to take the Lake Louise Gondola, but we opted for an earlier return in order to explore downtown Banff and get dinner. Free parking at the Banff train station was easy and convenient. Our drivers and guides were all first class and the retro feel of the school bus was fine (tip - avoid sitting over the rear wheels in back, as it gets quite bumpy).

Written 5 October 2022
As Q1042BHamyn above stated, there are only 2 places; the Moose Hotel on Banff Ave. (within walking distance of many hotels depending where you stay) or the Railway Station near downtown Banff (free parking), where you can catch the Hop On Banff bus (as of June 2022) Be aware of the time you have to catch the last Samson Mall bus in order to get back into Banff. Check the Hop On Banff website for details as it runs differently than most Hop On Hop Off buses.

Hi, I and my friend plan to visit Banff on Jun 18th, 2022 and we choose the hop on hop off bus. I wonder if the weather at that time will be good enough to hike or not. And is there any of the staffs help us to plan our trip at Banff? Last question, where do they usually pick us up? I did rent an airbnb and I dont know if they will pick me up at my airbnb or I have to go to downtown and wait for their busses. Looking for someone to help me answer these questions! Thanks a lot!!!

We are staying in The Rimrock hotel resort on the 10/09/2019 where is the nearest pick up point to do the hop on hop of bus as we have bookings for the Banff gondolier on the same day any advise please for two young at heart senior citizens

Moose Hotel and train station. Neither close to Rimrock. If you are not driving, then use the ROAM bus (hotel should give you a free pass good for your stay) which has a stop at your hotel and very near either train station or Moose. If you are looking to go to the Banff gondola by bus, the Roam bus would be the way to go and it's free with the pass. The Hop on Hop off bus takes you to some distant places.

Hi, Gale, do you know if one can start the tour later than 7:45. Also, can one end it earlier than the 5 or 6 pm I am seeing? thanks

They are very flexible and you can start later if you want. To do it all justice it is well worth starting early, especially if you want to do the canyon as that gets very busy later on.

we would like to hike around Lake Louise & Lake Moraine. I was wondering if this hop on hop off tour would be the best. How much time at each of these 2 spots would we have?

There would probably not be enough time. Talk to Tyler at hop on hop off they will help you
