    Kootenay National Park
Stop: 2 hours - Admission excluded
You'll hike on an easy trail along a bridge across the frozen Vermilion River and and along the snowy path winding through a forest of pine trees to the fascinating Paint Pots, which are mineral deposits once used by First Nations people for rock painting. Along the way you will hear stories from your friendly guide of Banff’s indigenous people, explorers and fur traders who lived in and traveled through the Rockies. After having a go at the crazy carpet slide down the hill (if you wish!) your guide will share hot chocolate and make a sweet frozen dessert in the snow for you to try - delicious maple taffy. This three-kilometer (1.86 miles) afternoon tour is an excellent trip for beginners as it covers a mainly flat terrain with minimal elevation gain, and also suits anyone wanting a pleasant activity outdoors in the majesty of Kootenay National Park.

I enjoyed this trek through the wilderness;...I am a city girl! Scott was very knowledgeable and guided our small group of 7 on this tour. I went solo as my family was skiing. Everyone was very nice and friendly. We had plenty of opportunities to take lovely pictures, enjoy hot chocolate, and cookies. Just a heads up, the description states this is an easy walk...a few of us found 2-3 areas to be challenging on this trek, but the group will wait for everyone to catch up before forging ahead.

Highlight of Banff - definitely recommend!
Feb 2020 • Couples
My partner and I partook in the afternoon snow shoe to Paint Potts with Anick, and both of us agree that this experience was definitely the highlight of our time in Banff.

Anick was truly brilliant - one of the best tour guides I came across in our 3 week stay in Canada and America. She clearly loved her job, had excellent knowledge of the history of Banff, and made the experience both enjoyable and fun for all involved. She made the effort to learn everyones names, and made it possible for us all to interact and have a fun time together.

I definitely would recommend this experience to anyone visiting Banff.

Fabulous afternoon snow shoe walking
Feb 2020 • Family
We had a fun afternoon snow shoe walking to Paint pots. From snow Angels, toboganing, learning about the local wildlife. Hugh was a great guide giving expert advice on everything from how to put on snow shoes to making maple taffy. Really recommend this for tour.

Fantastic afternoon adventure
What a great time we had on the snowshoeing walk today, the weather played ball and we had glorious sunshine with no wind. The guide Nick was so friendly and knowledgeable, and really patient with everyone as we tried out snowshoeing for the first time. Even though I went on my own there was plenty of chat and laughter through the outing and the trail was beautiful with lots of fresh snow to have fun on. Highly recommended.

Best Tour Guide Evaaaaaaa
My best friend and I visited Banff for the first time ever and decided that a guided tour would be the best way to fully experience this beauty of a place. We thought an evening hike would be ideal because you’re not typically allowed to do such a thing on your own. Rob was the best guide to have taken us through this tour because he was just so sweet and so patient no matter what our physical stamina was in terms of hiking. He stopped at exactly the right locAtions to talk about the area we were at and allowed for those who were not able to easily follow along to catch up and rest. We loved that he was so personable and made us feel comfortable to ask him questions regardless if it was stupid or not. If I didn’t believe in the abominable snowman before, I’d believe it now just from Rob’s convincing demeanor. I mean he convinced three of us to do a belly slide even when we were so unsuccessful. We still had an amazing time. I felt so comfortable and he made all of us feel like we were long time friends. Id come back to Banff for more tours as long as Rob was my guide. If he was that amazing, I’d like to think all the other tour guides also do a well done job. But can Rob just be my tour Guide for life?!

Surprisingly the Best Tour of Our Holiday
Jan 2020
It was borderline as to whether our tour would go ahead as the weather was so cold.
Our tour guide, Matt asked the group if we would be happy to move the tour to a more sheltered location in Marble Canyon. We were all agreeable and we had the BEST time ever in around -23 C degrees!

Matt was an absolutely A grade guide - knowledgeable, friendly, a great communicator, fun, safety conscious and a real Canadian!! 😳 😂

We had some great tours on this holiday, but I think this was the best as it was such a surprise. I would thoroughly recommend Matt and this tour. 🏆🤗😁

A huge shout out to both Scott and Annick who took such good care of us and had all the details looked after, it was magical. They picked us up right up at our hotel and then we learned all about the area on the drive in to BC. Once there we were given our snowshoes (when they ask if you want hand warmers the answer is yes!) and you are guided along snow covered trails, it was so beautiful, to an open meadow to get lots of photos. Scott and Annick are so knowledgeable and really made the afternoon fun. All the treats and surprises they brought make this tour a must. Don't miss out on this fun adventure.

BEAUTIFUL SCENERY!
Wow, what an adventure! My friends and I have never been to Canada, let alone snowshoeing and our guide Gina was amazing! She made the best maple syrup lollipops and gave us plenty of time for photos. Hand warmers are your best friend. I highly recommend booking this adventure!

Fun tour with stunning views

We got picked up by our guide Neil and enjoyed a nice drive to Kootenay National Park while Neil was sharing interesting facts about Banff, Kootenay and the history of snowshoeing.
Snowshoeing itself was great fun and the scenery was awesome. Along the way we stopped for a carpet slide (so much fun) and maple taffy, which you absolutely have to try. Really enjoyed this tour.
