    Too many coach trips!
The visit is labelled an "adventure" and having seen it as a kid in the 1970s but not been able to go onto the glacier I had wanted to do this trip since then. Unfortunately the reality was a let down - whilst going onto the glacier is a great experience, the whole process just felt like moving from one coach to another and the visit was focused on people on organised coach trips. There were just too many people and too many coaches on the glacier (7) and too many people in a small roped off area and that took away the feeling that you were on an "adventure" as the name suggests. Unfortunately the smoke from forest fires was bad so we couldn't see up the glacier and even the melt water tasted of smoke - that wasn't the fault of the organising company but didn't help the experience. On the plus side the coach drivers were really good and informative about the area, the glacier and the wildlife.

    Such a beautiful place!
I only booked this tour 24 hours before we arrived as it was exactly halfway along our drive from Jasper to Lake Louise, and as the weather had been unkind to us over the last few days I didn't want to be out on a glacier in pouring rain! Luckily, the weather was perfect!! We paid $105.00pp. The whole adventure including the Skywalk took around 2.5-3 hours (I couldn't find this information on the website) There was a lot of info on how they are trying to be more environmentally friendly with the coaches and the Ice Explorer Bus. I was very surprised that they had so many vehicles going round in circles, and none of them were electric or battery-powered! We went at what was the end of the season, and it was still busy, there was still a lot of people on the ice. Trying to find some peace and quiet to really take in the beauty of the surroundings was very difficult! But it is well worth the time and money to do this unique experience.

    Glacier experience
This was a unique experience! The entire adventure was slick and well organised, and certainly enhanced by the expertise and sense of humour of our drivers and guide: Abby, Cal and Sam. It was a short 5 minute bus ride from the Discovery Centre, over moraine, to the transfer centre. Here we boarded the specialised 6 wheel drive, Ice Explorer which navigated the steep terrain (33% slope!) to reach the glacier. There was a designated safe area within which we could wander for 30 minutes. The blueish glassy sections were very slippery. Less so on the churned up ice. Sturdy walking shoes and warm gear were essential. There was a Canadian flag which made a great prop for photos! If you remember (wish I had!) to take a small cup, you are able to sample the water from streams in the small crevasses. There are no amenities at the transfer centre/glacier, so be sure to make use of them at the Discovery Centre before you depart!

    A memorable visit
I arrived late so they put me on standby. I was able to get on the bus half an hour later. The Guide on the Icefield Explorer was a jovial Brit and he was excellent with information and very funny too. He took photos of me and we got another guide to take photos of us. The Glacier was cool! I even drank the ice cold and very refreshing water. Not too slippery unless you walk down to the stream of melting glacier. Scenery spectacular. The building is beautiful but you have to climb a lot of stairs to get to it. I’m sure there must be elevators for people with mobility issues. Inside, there is a lovely gift shop and a Starbucks. Upstairs there’s a restaurant. The staff are very friendly and helpful.

    Very good informative fun tour
My husband and I did this trip as we wanted to experience standing on a real glacier and get to travel in one of the cool vehicles that took you there. We’d booked through a travel app so just had to swap our E ticket for a paper one on arrival so did need to arrive early to be sure we’d done this. We had a short bus ride from the visitor centre to where the ice vehicles were where we were left with Rocco our guide who was very entertaining as well as being very informative about the glacier. It is sad to realise this glacier may not even be here in 30 years. Although it can be much colder once you get on the glacier, we were lucky that the sun came out so it was quite warm. It did make it very bright with all the snow so take sunglasses! I took an empty water bottle so I could try some of the fresh water/snow from the glacier. You had about 20 minutes to take photos and wander before being taken to the sky walk. This felt a bit scary at first but is great to spend as much time as you want looking at the view, walking on the glass, even sitting on the glass. We both really enjoyed both parts of this tour. You were given a good amount of information from people who clearly cared about the glacier

    Breathtaking place
An amazing experience. The shuttle bus to catch the SnoCoach was super easy, as was parking and check in. The trip onto the glacier was out of this world. Staff were friendly and very knowledgeable, and we felt very safe. The trip back and onto the Skywalk was easy too. Overall great experience.

    Once in a lifetime adventure.
We did this excursion as part of a Trafalgar tour. When you're a septuagenarian and you have a chance to stand on a glacier, you must take it. Our group was fortunate to have PERCY as our driver/guide of the massive, special ice vehicle that took us onto the glacier. Percy was professional, informative, and his passion for his job showed. We enjoyed his wit and humor.

The step ride to the glacier was fun. Walking on ice was a slippery adventure. Collecting glacial water… seeing the ice formations up close. Excellent!

    Great glacier adventure
The glacier adventure and the sky walk were part of our stay at Glacier View Lodge. The skywalk was a bit unnerving, but our guide, Luke “Skywalker” made it fun and informative. Rocco and Luke were our guides on the glacier adventure. Rocco provided lots of information and both included recognition of the First Nations who considered these mountains, glaciers, rivers and lakes as sacred and to be cared for. The glacier adventure from the Glacier View Lodge were the first on the glacier, an advantage for sure.

    A fab day!
This trip was so cool! It was such an experience and really fun spending time on the ice and even drinking the water. Our tour guides (Tex for the Icefields and Chad for the skywalk) were both great, they were so interactive and insightful. Thanks for a great day!

The Columbia icefields is a spectacular site that are a must-see
The Columbia icefields is a spectacular site that are a must-see! We were staying in Banff so we drove up the Iceway Parkway (Hiway 93) to see the icefields. (I remembered it called the Jasper Highway at one point). It takes about 2 hours to get there by car from Banff and less if you are coming off Hiway 1. Be careful with your GPS because there are several versions of "Columbia icefields) that come up. One of them says you need to go 30 miles farther north than you do. However, the signs are very clear when you reach the area. Set aside time to stop at the super-blue mirror lakes and the turnouts at some of the vistas. You pay a fee at the entrance to Hiway 93 because it is all a national park. Also, there is also one place to stop for gas and food about half way to the icefields (and only one!) so gas up for the round trip. The food was cafeteria style and actually pretty good. We purchased our tickets on TripAdvisor and it was a good thing we did. The tickets are for a certain time but they said that they are good for 2-3 days on and after the date. However, we found out that our visit was on a Canadian national holiday and the entire day was sold out! The last tour starts at 4pm. You arrive at the site and pull into a large parking lot. If you are going north, don't take the first entrance. It is for buses and employees. Take the second entrance and you'll see the parking lot. You walk up a large flight of stairs and you are in the building where the ticketing is. If you bought your tickets on TripAdvisor, you have to get in the ticket line and exchange the ticket printout for real tickets. We waited in line for the bus and boarded a typical tour bus that took us up to a transfer station. It only took 5-10 minutes. We then transferred to one of the big buses with the fat tires. It took us on a slow but fun ride up and down some steep rocky roads to the icefield. We didn't feel in danger at all on the ride. We were let out to walk on the ice field for about 30 minutes. The water is supposed to be pure so everyone brought an empty water bottle to fill up. The ice was very slippery so wear shoes with treads. The smart people brought small crapons to attach to their shoes. There were enough slushy areas with traction to get around but one slush pile was a little high so my socks got wet. The ice field is fascinating! You are limited to a good sized area but you can see rivers of water, crevasses, and lots of moraines. The picture opportunities were endless and it was hard to fit everything into a picture. Lots of selfies were taken. We then loaded onto the big bus for another ride to the transfer station where we boarded the tour bus. It took us to the skyway that was about 10 minutes away. The bus drops you off at the skyway and you just pick up the next bus available after you are done viewing the gorgeous views from a very high place. I'm so glad that we say it and experienced it!

    Lots of garbage outside
As a local resident with great respect for our natural world, I was appalled at the amount of garbage outside of the facility. Generally our National Parks are kept pretty clean, which meant I was really shocked to see the disregard for cleanliness. The amount of wind means this garbage flies everywhere. Please clean up!

This was an awesome experience. Our driver, David, from France, was so entertaining! He was full of information about the glacier, and gave us guidance on where we could step and where we could take photographs. It is amazing to think we ventured onto a real glacier. Thank you.

Kathlyn was amazing, she made the bus ride really entertaining and informative. I even too a video with her and she was cool with it.

The sky walk was really breath taking, took a lot of candid photos. Overall an excellent experience and the view was stunning. We will definitely comeback with families.

I was able to enjoy the Columbia Icefield very comfortably. It was good that they gave us enough time to take pictures. The view from the restaurant and Starbucks is good enough, but it was great exprience to be able to step on the icefield. The guide and shuttle bus driver are kind, and the shuttle bus connection with Skywalk is convenient.

Exciting bridge walk on glass. Could be better in Wintertime when snow covered the mountain. However in late June, in my opinion, it is a waste of time and money. It is a civil engineering marvel but does not excite one during summer when all mountains are barren and down below all you can see is a small creek

Hiked the glacier, then followed it up with the Skywalk. Started with a bus ride from the base to the skywalk, and our driver Hans, with Pursuit, was hilarious. Great attitude and real nice guy. Then greeted by hostess Emma at the skywalk, who was fantastic. Felt like we had personal service. An absolutely wonderful experience, with great views. Emma even pointed out some mountain goats below the skywalk.

Visited with my boyfriend. So glad we took the free tour with Tai! Tai had lots of fun facts to share and we felt like it really added to our experience. We also got some nice photos and saw a mother grizzly and her cubs on the bus ride back!

What an amazing experence! This was the highlight of our month long Canada rrip. Columbia Icefield Adventure was excellent! For me, the experence could not have been better. Well orginized, on time, great adventure, ETC. And to be able to go onto a Glacier, what an amazing adventure. I can't recommend this trip enough. It's spending but well worth the cost. We would go again! We chose not to go on the Skywalk as I am not a fan of heights.

Disappointing - the centre was just packed with people. Covid restrictions not really in place.
No restaurants were open.
We did the sky walk - put on a coach for the drive to the skywalk. Have a walk from the car park to the actual sky walk. Have a walk along it - not much different from any of the other views that we have seen on the highway.
For the money, really not worth it at all. Would not bother.
